I really like to automate both the overall mix volume and stereo width during the build up and sections where I want to build tension and then restore them at the drop. I'll start a slow volume reduction (maybe down -3dB) and width narrowing (maybe down to 50%) from the start of the section and then pop it back up at the start of the drop - the change is almost imperceptible to the listener but the difference (and release!) at the drop is clear.

Sick! Would you guys make another video on how to make a nice pad that suits your track? (The last one you did was 8 years ago) Ive heard of the plugin called Phonoloop but im wondering if there is a good way to take a part of your track and turn it into some sort of atmospheric pad / ambience that already suits your track. Cheers

If you want to build up some real tension, try leaving the toilet seat up. Works in my home with the girlfriend.
