You only need 1 gram of protein per pound if you are natural and forced negatives take the body too long to recover from if you are natural. Also training a muscle once per week when you are natural is too long, when on drugs protein synthesis occurs for a longer period

Injury prevention from a 57 year old middle-distance runner (I know....very different from bodybuilding but the principle remains the same). exercise the muscles through their full range of movement and have a flexibility element to every training programme. Warm up....pre-stretch....training element....post stretch. (and then if you can manage it...swim. I do not know why it is but swimming, especially after a heavy hypertrophy session, is really helpful with recovery) And most importantly, have fun people. Life is to be lived not endured.

for instance on pullups, i get a box and settle it under my feet, when i fail i jump to the top of the wide bar movement and resist all the way down, of course some exercises like bench and squats you cant do it, but there are other creative ways to force yourself without a partner, but like yates says, a partner is the way to go period

I am not in bodybuilding, I am playing tennis and trains accordingly but this man has a lot of real knowledge. The only important thing he might not actually understand is the differences between free weights and machines training. Free weight training is important to stabilize the muscles and balance the movements which is important for various sports; tennis, football, basketball,.. etc.

He's dead right about the abb training, I stuck to body weight exercises for years with good results. Then I tried weighted exercises which didn't make my abbs look any better but gave me double inguinal hernia's which cost me 10 months training including cardio while I waited for an operation and had to recover. Don't go keyhole surgery, recovery was a lot longer than if I'd just been cut.

I no longer lift weights for excercise: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is my thing. However Dorian Yates and these videos are the reason I was able to lose 2st of fat and build muscle and haven't lost any of my size since I stopped lifting. I went from training 5-6 days a week and feeling like sh*t to 3 times a week and seeing massive gains and feeling great(ish). To this day I use DY's principles to my current training with the same results.

8:10 I think gates realized fats lasts longer as energy food, "strength went up"... protein only last around 2-3 hours, sugar lasts 1-2hours, fats last 3-4hours...of course all this depends also on how much you ate, eat more = last longer.
