The Exodia vs 5d’s dragon was a comparison since both are 1 entity that require 5 cards to summon in game (Exodia) or 5 hosts to balance the power in the anime (the 5d’s dragon). Solomon having a millennium item to help summon Exodia is the exception to the 5 piece rule.

By “Egyptian version” I meant their soul monster. Obviously the skilled could use more than one but each person had 1 “spirit” that worked exclusively for them. Mahado had the Dark Magician, Seto Kiba & Kisara were 2 of the 3 blue eyes white dragons, Mana was Dark Magicisn Girl, & of course Solomon had Exodia. The rule of the old world was if your “spirit” monster died in battles then you as the castor will die as well.

Actually, if you consider the "season 0" movie part of the original series, Yugi did play the Dark Magician against Kaiba's Blue-Eyes, using a combination of magical hats and the spellbinding circle to overcome 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon before being beaten by a new one.

I feel like Yu-Gi-Oh has recently been making a comeback with the recent mobile app game and the upcoming anime movie Dark Side of Dimensions coming to theaters in the U.S. in less than 2 weeks. :) I just hope eventually we'll have real duel disks that project real holographic duel monsters. It'd be awesome to challenge a duelist downtown and getting the opportunity to obliterate them with Exodia, Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, or the Egyptian God Monsters! xD

In Yu-gi-oh "season 0" we see Yugi playing a lot the Summoned Skull card rather than Dark Magician. The attack of 2500 is the same. Someone can say that he uses the Skull because it's easier to summon (6 stars, only one sacrifice), but in the early versions of the fictional - card game seen in the series, the players doesn't need to sacrifice; the sacrifices were introduced later in the "city tournament" created by Kaiba. In the first arc of the manga (on wich the season 0 is based), Yugi rarely uses the Dark Magician card too. The card game, in the first arc, is only one of the many games introduced. Then the TCG became popular among readers and... you know the rest :)

The Bonds Beyond Time film is cannon to 5D's, so I assume that's what he meant. It also shows up in the 5th opening of 5D's for a split second. Lastly there is a character in 5D's so uses Dark Eradicator Warlock, but that needs a Dark Magician to be tributed in order to be special summoned so it can be assumed it does exist. When it comes to Arc-V however, I cannot think of any single time it was even referenced. Perhaps in the 4th intro among all the cards shown at the start of it, but I don't know for sure.

In 5D's, when Rua(Luna) was in the spirit world trying to free Ancient Fairy Dragon, one of her companions that was helping her at the time was the Dark Sage. Also when Team Satisfaction was shown in flashback to be facing off against a gang of spellcaster users, the Dark Executioner(Dark Eradicator Warlock) was being used by one of their members.

IF you think about it, a Dark Magician deck is basically you using a monster(s) (Dark Magician and/or Dark Magician Girl) to obtain every effect in the game. If you look at it one way, the spells and traps of the archetype are essentially their effects.

At the time this video went up there was already a 7th artwork for Dark Magician that came out earlier in 2016, the one missing is from the Darkside of Dimensions Movie.
