More people need to see your vids, you've helped me develop so many drills and practice methods! Commenting for the algorithm! I started skating again about 3 months ago, and I feel like I've made more progress in the last couple weeks since finding this channel than in the whole time before!

Im out in the mountains and im lucky enough to have some good spots to skate underground, cant wait to try some of these today! I want to just give you a huge thank you for sharing everything you've learned so far. Your skills and efforts have helped totally recontextualize how skateboarding can be a big part of my life without needing to learn to yenno... tre flip down a 6 stair at the skatepark. Ive had some injuries that have made getting back into skating seem really daunting but I see now I just needed to change my perspective and approach to the sport as a whole. I used to always feel dissappinted after a session because I felt no progress but now I just feel amazing that I got on my board and got a good sweat on. I surpised myself by landing my first clean no comply 180 the other day thanks to your breakdown and it felt infinitely better to have landed an ok nocomply knowing it was the first of hundreds that will only improve. They say representation matters but seriously having you as my peer is so encouraging, so yeah thank you again for sharing your techniques because they work and your videos are helping my change my life!

Wow, thanks Bailey! I'm so happy to hear that. I mean, I can definitely relate to redefining what skating is and how I want it to be part of my life, coming from quitting as a kid and thinking that skating was just ollies and kickflips. I'm stoked that you're feeling better about the progress and congrats on the no comply 180. It's a bumpy road, but worth going down 💪 Honored to be part of your skate peer group and the journey!! 🙌

Thanks for the video; I'm inspired to learn some of the tricks you showed. I have bum knees and I think I'm going to start committing to start learning freestyle tricks with little impact on the knees. Even practicing ollies can be grueling because a good session would involve many, many jump attempts that are too impactful on my knees.

Love the rail tricks will you do any rail flip videos can do varial flips but want to learn double varial flip
@SarahParkMatott3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I actually am a bit afraid of railflips at the moment. 😭 I did quite a lot of railflips over the summer, but rolled my ankle three weeks in a row doing them and have avoided them since haha so, it might be a while before I get back into them. But! I do know that if you want the board to flip more, try moving your flipping foot a little closer to the wheel. If you focus on pushing down there, more power will go into the flip, and less will go into the varial rotation. So, it’s worth experimenting with the power you need and where your foot is next to the wheel. Typically the closer your foot to the wheel, the more flip. The farther your foot from the wheel the more varial spin. So, experimenting with the right position and power should help!😃

@@SarahParkMatott thanks Sarah ur a great skater I hope your ankle gets better and you face the rail flips soon good luck

Do you recommend getting a freestyle board? Also which one of yours do you like better?
@SarahParkMatott3 жыл бұрын
Freestyle boards (whole setups which you often need the first time you get one) are quite expensive. And, because of that I only recommend getting a set up if you really want to do a lot of freestyle skating and tricks. If you only want to learn a few tricks and some footwork, your regular set up might work just fine. And if you want to do more tricks without getting a freestyle deck, you can sometimes get away with just buying freestyle wheels for you regular set up (as long as the trucks axle and deck are the same width). This will help with something like railflips. Mike Osterman has some good videos about freestyle boards and their benefits. Each deck offers something a little different for me. Right now, I am actually saving up for a new freestyle deck that will be a little more crossover between freestyle and street/park 😊 Depending on what shape and style you want, I’ve ridden both Waltz and Mode skateboards, and they’re both great quality 💪

@@dannypabon2973 for freestyle? For freestyle, having an offset freestyle wheel is the best-especially if you want to do rail (primo) tricks. But, any wheel technically can work.

@@SarahParkMatott THANK YOU:) BTW, YOUR CONTENT IS SO AWESOME. IT HAS HELPED ME SO MUCH. QUESTION? SO I'VE DROPPED IN A COUPLE OF TIMES AND HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL AT IT SO FAR, BUT EVERY TIME IM GOING TO DROP IN ON A NEW DAY, IT STILL TERRIFIES ME, AND SOMETIMES I BACK OUT. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO NOT FEAR IT ANYMORE? THIS HAS STOPPED ME FROM PROGRESSING SO MUCH.
@SarahParkMatott Жыл бұрын
@@dannypabon2973 ah thank you Danny! Really happy to hear that. For me, I never did many drop ins, so they still scared me. But for other tricks, it has taken tens of times to start to get over the fear. And then if I don’t try for a little while, the fear comes back. But at the same time, I’ve noticed as I progress in general (riding etc), my fear for tricks slowly becomes easier to conquer. Especially those beginner ones! It all levels up together. 😃 so, don’t worry. It’s a long game and you got it! 💪
