4 simple reasons why I went from a Nintendo fan to a pc gamer: modding is, 100000x easier, internet piracy (sue me, but I don't have a lot of money), access to more games & keyboard+mouse controls just feel better overall compared to controllers (hot take ik)
@ChasodeyАй бұрын
Internet piracy is fine if you don't overuse it. If you have no money to buy a game, it's an argument to pirate it now and buy later. If the game isn't sold anywhere, you can pirate it with ease. If pirated version runs and plays better than "lisensed" one (like old GTAs) then you can pirate it. But if you have enough money and still pirate every non-multiplayer game including indie and A titles with prolonged support cycle, well, you better check your values then.
@blockofland-qo2ojАй бұрын
i dont care if people pirate AAA stuff because the people behind it get plenty of money already but if you pirate indie games its a bit more of a deal since you should pay them if you have the money but if your just looking for a fun game then idc its your life

Older PC gamer here. I love this kind of video. We don't have any games in common other than DOOM and emulation, but somehow we have the same feelings and enthusiasm for PC. I dabbled playing on the PC a couple times as a kid, but I thought quality on consoles overall was better. But that all went away when I played on an ACTUAL gaming PC in the early 00s (back when it was very expensive) playing the orange box for the first time. Portal made me lose my mind, then Half Life 2, and then I had to know what the older PC games I had would look like on better hardware, then I was obsessed with emulation because I wanted all of my games in the same place.

When I was a little kid all we had in our house was an SNES/SEGA Genesis bootleg until around 2004. After that, my parents bought a PC which came with a bunch of games installed, like GTA Vice City, Star Wars Jedi Academy, NFS Underground, Max Payne 2, Serious Sam, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, Far Cry, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Unreal 2 (which is mediocre but for me it was mindblowing at the time). After experiencing all that, there was no way I was going back to consoles.

Then there was Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Fallout, Gothic, Morrowind also was about the same time... but the game that blew my mind and which was a PC game to the bone was Space Rangers (and Space Rangers 2 was even better). That's one of the few games I keep getting back even today. Another game that I visit occasionally is Left 4 Dead 2, and even though it was a multiplatform game, it's currently available only on PC, still have an impressive player base here and it is a definitive way to play it with all the features available.

They felt like new games even though I had already played them before. Then for multiplayer I got into Rust, Valorant, and Insurgency Sandstorm. I've always wanted to play Battlefield on PC but I'm waiting for one to release that isn't broken at launch, I played Bad Company 2, Bf4 and Bf1 on console but want to get into one on PC.

Interesting. In my case there is different games from your list. I became a PC player back in the end of 2006 and beginning of 2007 at 13 years old age. And my very first PC was a gift from my brother for my birthday. Before that, I started my gaming path with 8 bit Nintendo Entertainment System console, NES for short and then jumped to Sega Mega Drive that is also known as Sega Genesis. So after Sega console, I made a jump to a PC platform and I'm there still. So let's talk about the games that made me a PC gamer. And those games are GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, WarCraft 3, Quake 2, Quake 3, Counter-Strike 1.6, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Serious Sam games and lot more. Sure, GTA was not a specifically a PC game because it is available also for consoles but still, I played them first time on PC and that is why I consider them for myself as a PC games. But, the most impact for me as a PC player did a series of games that were never released on consoles back then, until now. And I'm talking about S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. Made by our developers from Ukraine, I played the heck out of those games, man. I still remember all of them as a back of my hand and I still enjoy them, despite the fact that they are games of their time. So if you ask me to name one game that made me a PC gamer, I would almost 100% say that S.T.A.L.K.E.R series did. And there is a lot of other games that were never released for consoles. Or were released but a lot later and was originally PC exclusive titles. I would name them but my comment is as long as it is, so I rather save it for the list that I'm planning to make for myself, since some of them requires a conformation of, were they really originally the PC exclusive games or not.

What got me into PC Gaming 100% was modding. I love DOOM and I especially LOVE DOOM MODS. I love the ways you can change and shift, and mold your personal DOOM Experience, and all the great mod packs, amazing Standalone Mods like Ashes 2063. But it wasn't just DOOM Mods it was Morrowind Mods and the Open MW Project, and Fallout New Vegas Mods. I loved these games on Console, but playing them on PC with Mods added a brand new Dimension to the game for me. Not even to mention my Beloved Halo on PC, MCC on PC is what keeps me on PC, the tons of Mods and Rebalances, adding new things to games I played for hours as a Child makes me so happy. Along with Mods Old Gold PC Games became my bread and butter, I have to shy away from GOG when I get a paycheck in because I fear I'll buy Almost every CRPG on Sale I see or RTS I find. I found new Hidden Gems (Legit Hidden Gems) Like Septerra Core and Warhammer 40k The Final Liberation. Old School PC Games I never even heard about that I loved the second I booted them up. Not to mention the new Genres that were never on Consoles like RTS,4X,City Builders. I have put more hours in Emperor Rise of the Middle Kingdom than I've had bowls of Chow Mein and Orange Chicken. And you mentioned Emulation, but I have fallen in Love with entire game series from merely playing Emulated Copies of it. I fell in love with the Entire Metal Gear Series By playing them on Emulators. PC is easily the best gaming platform, and I'm working diligently to get off of Console entirely I'm close to actually getting a fully original gaming PC and not just an Office PC with a few extra sticks of Ram, an SSD, and an Old 4gb VRAM GPU.

For me it was Half Life and Deus Ex and Quake 2’s demo. I played Half Life, and Team Fortress Classic and Counterstrike (before Valve owned it), on my family’s Dell PC. It was trash. At like 15 fps when playing online on a 12k modem. I was there for day one of the Steam Store back when people hated it. But for me it wasn’t that PC offered better quality or frames than console. Clearly I wasn’t getting the benefit of that, lol. But what it did show me was that I could have these advanced experiences that we just did not have on console at the time. It showed me that PC had the potential to push well beyond console and when we did get a PC port, like Doom, it was watered down because console hardware couldn’t hang. I’ve never left consoles behind, I’ve always been on all platforms. Except the Switch, I have a Steam Deck but I have been a holdout for the Switch 2 for years now. Will try it then. There are definitely benefits to each depending on the player, but considering how much console players obsess over graphics (and now higher framerates) many of them would be happier on PC I suspect. And probably why PC gaming has outpaced console for new player growth for a few years now.

Technically I've been a PC gamer my entire life but I didn't become exclusively a PC gamer until 2015. But if I had to pick a handful of PC games that really got me into PC gaming it would be: 1. Age of Mythology. I'm talking the original game back on CD. Yes, I've been playing Age of Mythology that long. It was legit the first strategy game I ever played. 2. Dragon Age Origins. I first played DAO on Xbox 360 and the party command system on that game for console was an unholy abomination to the point I really fucking despised the combat system on console. I'm just lucky a friend suggested I give it another go on PC because the PC version wound up being one of my favorite games of all time. 3. Oblivion. Be honest, people. How many of you are capable of playing any Bethesda game unmodded? Especially Oblivion with those damned psychic guards. I know I'm not. 4. Crusader Kings 2.

Witcher 3 is my favourite game of all time. I sunk 450 hours into it and it was worth every second. I won 3 copies of it on PC, Xbox and PS. It's paced so well have just gives you random side quests out of nowhere because a question mark shows up on your map, you are super close so you go investigate and 2 hours later you are still playing the side quest. Better yet is some NPC will reference that side quest 20 hours later in the game which was a completely optional side quest. CDPR were wizards when they made that masterpiece. I ruined gaming for me for about 2 years. Anything I picked up was mediocre at best. I have a new rig now and think I'm going to revisit it and enjoy the ride again. Mass Effect 2 is my second all time favourite game. There is a lot of ME2 DNA in Witcher 3. Decisions mean something and change the narrative often. Sometimes 15 minutes in or 5 hours in. The sex was pretty good too ;) Sunk 1round 100 hours into that one with all the DLC they released. I highly recommend playing the definitive edition that came out a couple of years ago.

I became a PC gamer in 2016. I was halfway into the PS4 cycle and was getting tired of all of the 3rd person open world action games (and I like that kind of game but damn Sony was making too many of them). It was clear to see that Sony was changing (for many reasons) and not the Playstation I liked from PS 1-3. Gaming for me on consoles at that point was getting boring. To note I did try PC gaming in the 90's and I absolutely hated it. It was something definitely for people who had a technical inclination for this and I wasn't one of them. There were no websites or youtube type sites at the time showing tutorials or giving advice on this. 2014 I started to watch a lot of PC vs Console vids. And of course trying it out in the 90's I had a lot of skepticism on what the pro PC players were saying at the time. I started to watch a youtuber named OhnoItsAlex and he was talking about being a PC gamer since the 90's and acknowledging how much easier it was to get into than it was in the 90's. From that point I asked a lot of questions for that 18 month stretch of time. I was almost fully on board to switch but for me It came down to 2 reasons for me to fully pull the trigger. On top of all the great things PC has to offer (Cheap games, customizability, emulation, freedom of the platform, better graphics etc.......) The two things for me was modding and the fact I can hook up a PC to my TV in the living room. I don't know how many vids I watched on modding and seeing games almost fully transform into something different or better through mods and being able to game on it in the living room on my 55in 4K tv with a wireless KB+M and controller while sitting on a comfy recliner. 8 years later still going strong and still loving the shit out of this platform, never going back to consoles. On a side note, playing single player FPS games on PC is so much better for the reason that a setting called FOV exist. I never knew coming from console until I used this for the first time. What a difference..... that and turning off Motion blur.

agree 1000% on witcher 3 i tried it multiple times on console and when i switched to pc i picked it up cause cheap and it has become one of my favorite games. I think its partially frame rate and also partially it kinda just feels clunky with a controller at least to me. Also doom while i liked it on console it is definitely a game that is made for pc not console, i just feel bad for the poor souls that try to play it on the switch.

I finished building my PC in 2019 First games I played was Portal 1 and Terraria I tried using kbm controls on CSGO but didn't like it. I use controller exclusively and PC is still 10x better than console due to the freedom you get, I love emulation I cant imagine a world without that I still use 2016 hardware and 1080p. Don't listen to people who say you need £3000 to build one. You only need to spend what you're comfortable with. I don't use crappy T-AA and artifacted ray tracing bs which you are forced to use on consoles

For me it wasn't any game that pushed me to PC gaming, it was emulation, the fact that I diddn't have to buy or get repaired my old PS2 to enjoy a game I really liked in childhood again. Emulation bypasses all exclusivity and I was fascinated by it. Then I learned about the backwards compatibility and mods and then there was simply no going back. Today is almost 4 years since I built my PC. Looking forward to upgrading it in a couple years.

Wolf New Order is the goat but it sadly doesn't work very well with modern hardware, I still have my old PC with GTX 1070 and the game runs constant 90 FPS but on my current PC it is just not good

I've always been a PC gamer, grew up playing wow on shitty laptops and got my first actual PC(pentium g4560 1050ti) in 2016ish and i could never swap to console. Ryzen 7 9700x and a 7800xt with a high refresh rate 1440p monitor. WITH a secondary monitor. How could i ever want to play on a console

Got the steam deck 2 years ago, switch has been collecting dust ever since. (Guys I'm joking, my switch is in a switch case at the bottom of my Jean drawer, because if the joycons get exposed to air for too long they start drifting)
