Great video 😀 One small correction as I've heard this repeated a lot on the internet: I was one of the developers of Thundercats (at Gargoyle) for Elite. There was never a game called Samurai Dawn; it was just part of a plan set out for three games in one year under the FTL label - Lightforce, Shockway Rider and the never even started Samurai Dawn. We did mischievously give some faked screenshots to a magazine at the time but it was just marketing guff. 🙂 In fact, the unfinished thing (actually not even a game at that stage, just a tech demo) that Elite latched on to, initially had the working title of 'Wolf', long before it was ever Thundercats. No work whatsoever was done on Samurai Dawn, except for a painting/cover art for an advert. The tech demo that Steve Wilcox saw used a modified graphic animation of the walking man from Tir Na Nog, and was pretty much just that at the time. We had almost no time whatsoever to "rescue" Elite, just as we had done previously for them with Scooby Doo a couple of years before. The 8-bit versions were fully written by us and the 16-bit ones were contracted out. Fun Fact: We also made an NES version which was 95% finished and almost ready for duplication, before something "legal" happened over at Elite, and it never saw the light of day. Shame really because it was one of the best games we ever wrote... very 'Mario'. Again, great vid. 😁

Wow thanks for the correction, I do a lot of research but nothing compares to hearing it from the horse's mouth. Does no one have that NES game anywhere?

Well, part of why Future Strike became Future Cop is because the co-designer of the series and designer of Future Strike left the company to go work on other things, like Legacy of Kain, Midnight Club LA, Buffy, Strider, Medal of Honor, etc... etc... One day that designer (that being me) might return to "the Strike Series" but not via EA, since they own the IP and aren't doing anything with it. I'll probably just make my own new franchise, "inspired by The Strike Series".

I'd love to play that if you ever do, loved the strike games

If I recall, Fighting Force was originally supposed to be Streets of Rage 4. Interesting how things change.

If you look at the map for level 3 of the Amiga version of Beyond the Ice Palace, there are blocks on the map with text descriptions indicating where the enemies spawn. The final baddie block placed at the very top has the text 'Mum Ra' written on it (spelt slightly differently from the correct 'Mumm Ra' but it was only 16 pixels wide so that's OK!).

Nice, I didn't know about quite a few of these. One game that might fit in here is The Last Starfighter for NES, which was originally Uridium from the C64. The only thing is that Uridium of course was released first, unlike these games where the original game was either never released or was released later. I'm going to make an in-depth video about Last Starfighter soon.

Yeah mate, I put the last star fighter in the c64 Vs the Nes video I did. Weird that they decided to name it that as it was nothing like the movie lol

Hmmm. CJ always felt very much like the New Zealand Story, so it makes sense.

@oldstylegaming I think Mike Dailly thought of some type of a shooter where little men get blown up with lasers😁😁also it started as an experiment to determine how many sprites can be displayed at once on the screen😃

Hey Mr Old style gaming. I don't know if you be interested in doing a review on the game 'Flimbos quest' for the commodore. I was obsessed with this game as a kid and wonder if you've played it before? Thanks for the content.

Wasn't The Real Ghostbusters something like this? They couldn't secure the IP in Japan so had to make it a more generic ghost hunting game in that market.
