I would nearly sell my soul for a remake of Star Wars: Jedi Academy. Honestly, I think that's the game Bioware should have been making, instead of Anthem. As long as they stuck to the "1 to 2 hit kill" model of combat that made lightsabers feel like actual lightsabers (instead of, for example, Jedi Fallen Order where it feels like you might as well be swinging a regular sword), and injected their famous dialogue wheel to allow for greater immersion and a fleshing out of the light vs. dark side choice elements...it could be the best jedi game ever made. Not that there's a lot of decent competition, there.

Eternal Darkness. Sure some horror games since then have worked in "sanity" systems but they either amount to an alternate health bar or otherwise got you killed when it was low. Eternal Darkness used the sanity system to mess with the player. Stuff like making your inventory disappear, having the game appear to randomly crash, entering a room only to end up walking on the ceiling or having the character suddenly turn around and shoot the camera among many others including more subtle things like having statues turn their heads to track you as you walk past or paintings on the walls changing.

I've been wanting Nintendo to do something with the Eternal Darkness name since the first one. It's such a classic and it's a real missed opportunity that there's only one of them.

Sadly it's an IP of Silicon Knights and there's a whole debacle of a tale to be told about that developer. There have been several attempts to bring back the series in various forms all of which have failed. I absolutely love the original and I think at most the best we could hope for is a heavily Nintendo funded remake or re-release on the current gen. Which I would still be thrilled to purchase.

The only bad thing about this video is that I can't give it more than one like. _Jet Set Radio Future_ is one of my favorite games ever, probably in my top 10, and I've played it at least a few dozen times from start to finish. it's about time we get a new game. I'd love if we could get a port to modern systems, but I understand the problem - getting the rights to all the music. Jules, I'm happy to see that you and the rest of the WhatCulture crew are holding up well during this nightmare of a pandemic. I really want a Burnout reboot. I know Dangerous Driving exists and I appreciate it, but the low budget ultimately effects the experience for me because most tracks in Burnout have been in urban environments and DD does not have that (Or a strong sense of gravity). Most racing games nowadays are sims or standard arcade racers, most of them don't promote aggressive driving and the only game I can think of off the top of my head that does it properly is Wreckfest, but Burnout and Wreckfest can't be compared to each other just because they both encourage you to drive like a maniac. EA is literally doing nothing with the franchise and they probably won't give the rights to someone else because they're EA. I, at the very least, want a Burnout 3 remaster because in my opinion the game could really use it. Tone down the motion blur and lens flare, make the roads less shiny, turn off the traffic cars headlights during the day, maybe even add cut color options for cars.

I can't agree more about Jet Set Radio Future. I got that same Xbox that came with JSRF and some racing game. When I got my Xbox I also got with it Halo, Halo 2, X-Men Legends 1 and 2. So I had no desire to play some weird skating game. But when I finally did I couldn't believe how much I loved it. I still have the whole soundtrack saved to my KZbin playlist.

Popping the clutch and accelerator pedals in Steel Battalion, meant the life-saving difference between dying in a bi-pedal mech that you recklessly tipped over at high-speed, and "kicking-yourself" upright to continue fighting. It didn't matter if the CCV gun cameras didn't work. What mattered was knowing the gun still did. The only game I currently play to have a similar amount of neuroplasticity upon their simulated controls and unforgiving physics would be Elite Dangerous. For reboots? Bushido Blade. PSVR.

I'd love to see a sorta sequel to this list as I can list some game series I absolutely adore that we'll likely never see again. Tomba, Galerians, Bloody Roar, Evil Zone, Guardian Legend. (I mean imagine a Guardian Legend game made like Neir: Autowhatever. It'd be bloody brilliant!)
