Dark Crusade was better if you only value multiplayer. The Dawn of War 2 campaigns are vastly outweigh Dawn of War 1. I still replay Dawn of War 2 and it's two expansion campaigns because they are just that good.
@TheRealMinotaur6674 жыл бұрын
@@Ashtarte3D Agree to disagree on this one. I do the same but for DoW1. Personally, I felt it was a travesty that DoW2 pushed away from the base building roots of the original, and that's where it lacked for most people who I've spoken with about the subject. I'm not saying I don't like the game. It's a good game. It's just not a good DoW game. At least in Dark Crusade and Soulstorm you could do the campaign as whatever race you wanted. In DoW2 and it's expansions you were forced into playing as Space Marines, and as someone who prefers Tau, Necron and Dark Eldar (in that order usually), being forced to play as Space Marines just sucks.

True. Some people go in for backstory, but that's in story-driven games, not in "mow down millions of enemies" game. Did I care when Thule got shoved into a walker, not really. Did I fear for my squad when they did their last stand after poisoning the tendrils, nope. At the end of the day, in terms of game, DoW:DC was better than DoW2. Don't get me wrong, DoW2 and DoW2:CR were good and DoW2: R happened, but Dark Crusade was still better. The bosses in DoW2 were stupid-strong (you have 300 health, it has 300,000 - if that Ork has more health than a 1000 Space Marines, why hasn't it taken over the Universe yet) and increased again for Chaos Rising (that end thing - can't remember name - had millions of health, you were fighting it for hours). In terms of DoW, DC was by far the best expansion. SS was okay (once they'd patched it), but felt like a watered down DC. Base game was short and so was first expansion, albeit considerably harder than base. But DC is where it really got its feet.
@GenJuhru4 жыл бұрын
@@robd9413 SS was a let down with the DC epilogue(?) showing various planets in conflict and what you got is a mostly empty battle map. the dow2 warping on another system would have been...a glimpse of a better SS if not better than DC. It also didnt help that the Sororitas used had the most boring color palette...
@robd94134 жыл бұрын
@@GenJuhru For me, two of my main problems with SS was the gates. Firstly, you have the in-lore problem of imperials\SM using elder tech to move between planets - might be wrong, but I'd expect them to trash them, not use them. Secondly, the gates created effectively choke-points and made them more a priority than the others. DC had a free map, SS didn't.

It's an okay for a few hours coop shooter. But pretending to be a Warhammer game where you play a terminator squad is quite a joke and has 0 regard for the actual 40k universe. And the positive reviews are, well the enhanced edition made the really buggy messy original game somewhat playable, and it's fun for 10-15 hours tops, that doesn't mean much in the long run. It plays more like a simplified stompy mech game with highly exaggerated post processing effects, screen shake and so forth than anything else. Also marred by insanely wonky AI, incredibly simple spawning system that kills any sort of challenge even if you're not good at shooters. Let's all just hope someone takes the Legion system from Serious Sam 4 and makes a proper 40k shooter out of it. And the original game has 53% positive reviews, and half of those are hopefuls that want to like the game just cuz it says 40k on it. Sad that DoW 2 beat DoW 1 but I understand it's much more casual friendly, looks good and had a really good campaign mode. While DoW 1 gameplay is far superior in multiplayer but it looks and feels blocky which won't resonate with a casual players and much like Warcraft 3 the pathing issues improves gameplay skill which again casual players don't like. DoW 1 played a big part in my early teen years and improved my love for RTS games and I used to be good at it hitting 1600 automatch rating as Orks back in Dark Crusade which was one of it's high points which I was proud off. I totally agree that Digimon is underrated, but there aren't that many good Digimon games in my opinion. World 3 and the Cyber Sleuth games are fantastic, but everything else is pretty meh.

I don't know if this has been already made or not, if so maybe a part 2. ---> 10 Ending that ruined the story of a game/franchise. And Jules, thank you for your final words on your videos, they do help me a lot.

Technically it’s called “Total War Warhammer” not “Total Warhammer” just feel like it’s a distinction that should be made since that was a missed opportunity by Creative Assembly in naming it as the later.
@helikos14 жыл бұрын
First off it's "latter" and you contradicted yourself. You state it's called “Total War Warhammer” which it is and you put that option first, the former. You then say that they called it by the latter* which you stated that the latter* is “Total Warhammer”

Suggestion for next week. Best games for a partner/non-gamer to learn to use both sticks on a controller at the same time. Cheers man

Excellent video yet again Jules you beautifully round-headed legend. An idea for next week - 10 video game franchises that switched genre... and failed (or succeeded!) Think Halo Wars, Gears Tactics, Spartan Total Warrior

Omg, Shadow of the Horned Rat. Forgot this game existed. Back in my teenage years when I was heavily into anything Games Workshop related I played this a lot. Along with the stress-inducing Space Hulk on Sega Saturn.

Warhammer40k: Space Marine is a good place to start if you aren't well acquainted with the lore, as it was targeted for a broader audience it tries its best to explain well enough the overwhelming stuff that compose the full Warhammer lore. Warhammer Vermintide 2 is a really good candidate too, set in the fantasy version of Warhammer, this game too can be fully enjoyed if you don't know much about the world, as it has really nice combat and the characters are funny and unique.

@Fenix Luciferum: ok, i thought about getting warhammer: inquisitor martyr as well, mostly because I know for a fact I know my local GameStop has is.
@fenixluciferum4 жыл бұрын
@@Stormfire1777 I haven't played it personally, but I know it has got a standalone expansion too called Inquisitor Prophecy, and the characters you make are shared between the games. To be honest I was thinking about buying it too, since Jules said that now it's rather good.

I would ask what genres you are into before making suggestions. There's turn based strategy, real-time strategy, third person shooters and first person shooters to choose from. If you're an FPS fan, go check out Spacehulk: Deathwing Enhanced Edition. If you prefer RTS, Dawn of War Dark Crusade is an absolute must. They're personal picks. There's lots to choose from in WH40K and regular WH. To clarify though, 40K is the sci-fi one with guns etc. Normal WH is more fantasy with swords and magic. Best of luck, friend.

Speak for yourself when you say that Dow II ditching the base building was “impressive”. Even when considering the original I still think Total War Warhammer II easily takes the cake as the best Warhammer game. Oh and my favorite Warhammer armies are the High Elves and Eldar (with Tau not too far behind).

A mate of mine worked on Space Marine. You should see what he animated just out of shot in some of the cut scenes!
