For me it’s maintaining a good balance with how I spend my time playing and cleaning. I have two toddlers, Irish twins, and we are always happiest when we play all day… But then I have to sacrifice my sleep and catch up from not cleaning all day while they sleep and it takes hours. It’s not easy to clean “with” them because they’re too young to actually help and end up undoing my work. It really is so short though, my oldest is close to potty training and has already learned SO much. With my youngest inspired by her I can see him developing even faster. They’re the joy of my life and even with all of my complaints I couldn’t imagine trading this life for anything else. Thank you for this, it is SO helpful to hear from someone who has actually been through this. Bless you and I hope your holiday season is filled with joy and love ❤❤❤

The mom guilt is real. Partnering with the Holy Spirit every day in every moment has changed the game for me. Be intentional about inviting Him into everything. I always say things like “Lord I need your patience in this moment" etc so I can lean on Him for regulation. I repeat phrases like this as much as I need to in addition to using calming tools and other means so I can stay as regulated as possible. If this is an area you feel super strong conviction about definitely pray and ask God to intervene. He will give you joy and peace and the dynamic will shift. I PROMISE 🥹🫶❤️.

She recommended baskets and things to keep clutter in so it’s out of sight and in its own place.

But goodness gracious he tests my patience ❤ he’s climbing and jumping off anything and everything. And since he’s not talking quite yet he gets frustrated when he’s not able to express what he wants or needs. He’s very smart and understands what I’m saying and asking of him. It’s just the talking we’re having a hard time with. Anyways, I know this goes by fast. But this mama is exhausted 😩 I’m not 24 this time lol

Love this video so far! Once I learned that Tantrums are not only natural but actually important for them to get their big feelings out i relaxed. I love how Dr Cathryn from the Healthiest Baby describes the 'terrbile twos' - they are the 'terrific twos' or 'terribly important twos'. Being two is hard, their brains are developing, they are goimg through so many changes and we need to be there to love them, understanding them and gently guide them. I struggle because I am the only person in my family who understands this and im told i am too soft, not giving boundaries (just because im not raising my voice, he replies on me too much 🙄 etc). And it would be nice to have support and understanding but i am strong enough to take the comments and do this for my son, our very loving and very strong attachment and his future ❤ We need to be kind on ourselves as this form of parenting does ot come naturally to most and its so hard when we are tired and annoyed and it feels like they are pressing our buttons. But when you realise they literally don't have the capacity to push our buttons and manipulate us and that what they need it someone to be on their team, understand them and love them no natter what mood they are in talking calmly and with empathy during a tantrum becomes easier and easier i promise.

I totally get every ounce of your story. I think it's personally harder to parent this way. It's way easier to kiddos to comply.. and I don't want kids who respond out of fear. How do make time for your KZbin videos and your parent coaching biz as someone who also stays at home? I feel like women who stay at home don’t talk about that- how they still work in some way and how they make time for that. Could really help (newborn mom here)
@slowishparenting5 күн бұрын
@@WhatWouldKarlaSay this is a great question!! I’m still finding rhythm on this one. But, you’ll notice that my content goes in “waves” some seasons I can post more often than others. Right now, my husband is able to watch my kids a couple Mondays a month and my mother in law watches them for part of a day a couple days a month.. Typically I batch content during this time. I keep my coaching clients small… so I get started after dinner and my husband takes care of putting the kids to bed! My kiddos will be 3+5.. so we’ve been working on helping them to be more independent. We have a “movie afternoon” once a week and typically I catch up on Comments and Emails during this time. Today, my kiddos are playing well independently.. so I’m taking a few minutes to answer comments. Needless to say.. I’m still figuring it out. But batching content and scheduling it has helped TREMENDOUSLY. I can easily record a month of podcasts when my MIL watches the kids… and then I create more content if I have extra time! Hope this helps!!! ❤️

May I ask what curriculum you’re homeschooling with?? I’m interested in homeschooling my little guy but worried I won’t be able to teach him better than the schools can 🥲

I'm using the Good and the Beautiful. I know it doesn't work for all families.. but it has scripts for parents which I find so helpful for moments when I'm feeling not so confident.. I'm thinking about doing a video on it!! Let me know what you would like to hear about... I was thinking of doing it on the Insecurity of being a Homeschooling Mom!
