I think everybody likes Dan, he seems like a nice guy. It is a good book, he talks about his journey in trying to center himself as he interviews celebrities, learns to meditate and works in the shifty world of tv news.

Awesome; just finished 10% Happier; read a lot about meditation and practiced for years but Dan makes it so accessible. Many thanks.

I understand all these perspectives, but surely mindfulness (if that is what this is about), is about how to live consciously, how to walk consciously, how to read the news consciously, drink, eat, change nappies, help your wife, be consciously ... i.e., not essentially about time out. In fact, I would say, if it is not about conscious attentiveness in the task at hand, it is an opiate. It's a lifestyle, not a pill. There is not life over here and meditation over there... life can be naturally walking mindfully. While it is thought of as an add on the efficiency that a mindful life is will never be realised. I would call any other approach, the Western commodification of what looks like a good idea from the East.

Awesome video and subject matter, but most of those clips he played were awkward/cringey as fuck.
