When Arthur's face or clothes are dirty, walk up to your horse, hold L1/LB and change outfit. You can even simply select the current outfit you are wearing and he will just change into a clean version of it. Bloody or muddy face also clears up. Helpful shortcut for all those none bathers. EDIT: You will still need to take a bath from time to time to avoid stinking the place out. This method just clears up any dirt on your outfit, etc.

1Unmasking during "law searching" makes it dissapear faster. 2 leading your horse or simply let him follow you by command makes bound with him. 3 don't pay bounties! Always on criminal actions wear the same suit and change it after when you're in free games this makes searching by bounty hunters a lot lower. Prepare few suits and change them , also facial hair and hair do wonders. (This tip is in game ic crime tab)

For the dead eye trick. If you have an elite controller, you have to put the selector switch underneath the controller to full. Most people have the trigger pull on short and that’s why this trick won’t work. Make sure you select full trigger pull and slowly squeeze RT and it will work!

Slowly pull R2 with no weapon drawn and it will fill a ring. Then pull. R2 all the way to activate deadeye. Don't press L2 or any other button. Just R2 and then deadeye activates in quickdraw form. Well, mashing the button does drain stamina but the horse also gallops faster. What you want to do, though, is to time your button mashing as you said and steadily increase the rhythm and the horse will try to match your rhythm until it's pace is peaked. When you've had your horse for a while, you will quickly enough internalize the max rhythm for your horse. The faster the horse, the faster you gotta press.

The bow is a very effective weapon, just by aiming your dot at a enemies will auto adjust the aim for the arrow flight arch and usually hit its mark, so headshots with it can be nasty.

In horse bonding if when holding (L2 ps4) you can mash the different buttons for brushing or patting horse. It will continually brush or pat them with out the pause in between selections. Also found that (because it shows you on the screen) while looting there’s guns on the ground camp fire interactions ext. if you push R1 it will cycle through all of different things you can select from. So you don’t have to move bodies or anything out of the way.

Awesome video. I found a lot of these tips incredibly useful. Especially that of the unarmed dead eye. I figured it out within a few seconds. Instead of lightly tapping the right trigger what you want to do is slowly pull on it and you'll begin to see dead eye start to activate and Viola you'll be the fastest gun in all the west. Another tiny little detail I found interesting was that if you tap L1 twice quickly Arthur will holster his gun (Revolver)in a stylish fashion a la Revolver Ocelot! give it a try it's really neat. @SNYDER Honestly It's most useful in those random ambushes that happen. Usually while they're robbing you or whatever, if you draw your gun normally, you'll get shot before you're able to actually enter dead eye normally. Doing this lets you draw your gun and enter dead eye instantly. And even if they still get the first shot, they'll miss because you can't actually get hit in dead eye (95% of the time at least). Unarmed Dead eye is probably the only way you can leave situations like that without getting hit.

My tip is, I think people already know this but, you can get cigarette cards from premium cig packs in the open world. So its always good to smoke so you have some space to pick some up from looting bodies and houses and such. You can even buy them from stores.

I use the lassoing trick for when I shoot extra game to take back to the camp. Such as, if I have a deer already on the horse, I can shoot another and just lasso it, and then I can drag it behind me back to camp. It helps a lot when having to provide meat! Also, apparently you can burn bodies. I don’t know if it helps the player at all, since the body does not completely disintegrate, but just in case anybody doesn’t know.

Hitching and leading actually restores your horses via etc. I highly recommend getting the guide book for this. It tells you all muscle missions, stats and easy me stuff than any video has. It had so much info that no one on KZbin seems to know plus the rates that things regenerate plus all maps for everything in the game and a million other things. I never buy them but it is so worth it for this game. Adder reading it so much stuff in it that no one is covering that is helpful. Button combos that no one mentions. L3 while riding parts your horse. Doubke tap r2 then X to move back in a pack of riders. Etc.

Quick tip: when you are deep in a menu screen and want to back out straight to the game. You can of course hold circle, but I found something even faster. Just press the OPTIONS/Sart button. Way better :) no need to press and hold anymore.

Here's another tip I haven't seen anywhere, when you're riding and your horses stamina is getting low watch for an exclamation point to pop up in the circle and then pat the horse by holding the left stick(could be right stick, it's been a few days since I played), you will gain back part of the outer stamina bar making your horse able to gallop full speed for longer.

So a useful tip that I found for hunting was when you aim at an animal, on the left side of the animal species name there's 3 little stars, these indicate the pelt quality, so 3/3 white stars is pristine, 2/3 white stars good, 1/3 white stars poor. This just helped with knowing which animals were worth hunting and was easier than "show info" or studying the animal.

I just pick destination and press X n go cinematic mode and double X. You can hold with your finger, but i use my phone holder which is adjustable and i have it adjusted so it presses and holds on X on my controller while I watch videos and use my phone. The first bounty i did i was going thru reg water - not even really deep, but the horse stamina gave out and it was against a rock on side of river... the body was positioned in a very awkward place, like between horse and rock and every time i went to pick him up, ended up getting on my horse lol. Here is an AWSOME tip from a 100% completed player! (me lol) 1. Get yourself a wagon (1 horse recomended) 2. Go to any stable. 3. Take a pistol/rifle out and go inside the stable. 4. Shoot the ceiling and wait until your a witness. 5. Get out of the wagon and go to a horse you want. (Jump in the stall) 6. Open the wheel by holding L1/LB 5. Go to "HORSE" And go to "PROVISIONS" 6. Select any Horse treat and wait until you have the white horse on your mini-map. 7. Hide or Surrender from the Law Men. (If you hide you will be put into the stable after youre not wanted/witness. If You surrender, you can look on your Index/Map to find your horse. Go to that location.) 8. Leave the stable and whisle while running away from the stable and wait until the horse comes to you. (HIDE ONLY) 8. When you get out of the Police Station, Open your map and look at your index. Find "Temp. Horse" and go to that location. (SURRENDER ONLY) 9. Thats how you get your FREE HORSE! Your welcome.

idk if anyone else has commented this tip: if your dirty and you don't wanna go all the way into town to get a bath; you can go to the edge of a stream and use the roll to clean yourself off.

Glad I didn't get adjustable triggers on my latest Scuf controller. It's just not worth it most of the time, but those extra programmable buttons sure are, and not having to take your thumb off of either stick to press a face or d-pad button makes a huge difference.

Hey man. I don’t know if you knew already or just missed it off, but if theirs a few items in 1 pile say couple dead bodies with weapons etc and your trying to focus on a specific item you can tap RB to focus on the different items.

Useful tip: you can rope a dead body. I killed an old man for a treasure map and he fell down the rapids stopping in the middle of one I couldn’t go in because of the current. I tried pulling him to land with the rope and it FREAKING WORKED. That’s when I decided this was one of the best games ever made.

To the people that can't activate Dead Eye without pulling your weapon out beforehand: Do you happen do have a Scuf controller or something similar with a trigger stop? Yeah turn the trigger stop to the off position so the trigger works as with a normal controller. I just recently got a Scuf and I was confused why it wouldn't work until I thought about the trigger stop thing and once I turned that off, it worked perfectly again. What basically happens is, the game needs the trigger to be pulled all the way to the bottom or it won't register the full thing.

ths is a pretty common tip but, when on your last shot in whatever weapon enter deadeye mode. it reloads your weapon to full, it cuts down time haveing to lay low and reload during gunfights.

On number 6a problem that might happen when you do hitch ur horse is that wolfs might kill it. It happened to me on lake Isabella while I was looking for the white horse.

Hitching your horse also restores it’s cores. If you don’t hitch your horse’s cores drain faster

Actually how the dead eye in tip 2 works is you don’t have to use left trigger at all. All you have to do is lightly press right trigger and you start reaching for your gun. Wait a couple seconds as the circles filling and when you pull right trigger all the way and it activates dead eye. Also if you let the circle fill all the way up before drawing your gun completely you actually get more time to aim in dead eye.
