I remember figuring out you could fire both canons in OG Dead Space almost immediately, like it was just kind of intuition, if you actually look at the canon itself you can see only the right one is firing when pressing RT/R2, so it makes sense that pressing LT/L2 fires the left one. I thought everyone knew that...

I enjoy how the video is saying you need to use both shoulder buttons to fire and then proceeds to show the player only using the right cannon for the entire entry.

The rhinoceros beetles are a holdover from the OG RE4. In the original, one of the people who worked on the game had a fascination with beetles and had actually planned on putting in more than what made it into the final game. You can't collect them in the original, mind you, but they can be found and simply fly away upon doing so.

Punching while using the jetpack in No Man's Sky is well known to many veteran players, but it isn't mentioned anywhere in tutorials and it also has never been patched out. It can dramatically speed up early game travel before vehicles or good animal tames. It is also highly risky with fall damage.

@@notroMyaJ Heh. I did the game on release before ships had good collision/controls and before freighters/vehicles. Back then this trick was a lifesaver. It is true its now pretty easy to just use a starship unless you are on survival difficulty in which case the fuel cost really hurts.

There's a very helpful method at beating Laura's final fight in The Evil Within that I don't think enough people know of. Saves you a ton of ammo, too. In the last arena, launch a regular crossbow bolt directly into the pipe's opening that shoots fire at Laura, and you'll get an endless burst of flames that you can kite Laura into for insane amounts of damage. I honestly think this was left out by the developers intentionally since it's so specific and doesn't seem to have ever been patched out. Recently used it to help in beating the game. You can also use the freeze bolts to stop traps from going off and be easy to disarm. And feel free to open the inventory menu while disarming bomb traps with the timing mini game for a slow-down time mechanic that absolutely solves the difficulty spike of later bomb traps.

It is almost mind blowing to think that people didn't know about the tip-toe mechanic in MGS2, even after all this time.. I used that on my first playthrough on the PS2 - and it is a good tool for slightly looking out from cover beneath small ledges - or quickly getting in and out of cover during gunfights in first person view; the shootout on the tanker case in point. Wasn't a revolutionary mechanic by any means, but it had a couple of useful advantages, at least.
@scragar
@scragar 4 ай бұрын
The PS2 version's instruction manual that came with the game pointed out the tip-toe thing. It's not even like it's a secret you have to discover. If they'd pointed out you can use L2+R2 to do pullups when hanging and that doing this a lot increases the level of your grip bar making it last longer it'd make more sense. That was something included in the game that was never actually disclosed outside of gaming magazines.

Saw a short from EpicNate about fallout 4 features I never knew about today - security bots can be passified by giving them what they want - construction bot shooting you because you aren't wearing a hard hat in the area? - put on the hard hat and it stops. Train guard bot shooting you because you haven't got a token? Pickpocket a token into it, it will accept the token and stop lol Need to test if this works in New Vegas as I just started it again

#1 reminds me of the hidden trick to go prone in MoA:Airborne. Normally you can only crouch, but whenever you ADS you get the ability to lean in any direction instead of move. HOWEVER, you can click in the thumb stick to let you move again whilst maintaining your current lean. So you can crouch, lean down to get lower, and then click the stick to move around. This will let you crawl under obstacles you normally couldn’t before to find better cover or get the drop on enemies.

In "Battle Realms" when attacking enemy base, instead of doing the regular combat, selecting a building and hitting the 'delete' key (or shift+delete, it was about 20y ago, I can't clearly remember) - you instantly destroy the building. And this worked even in Multiplayer. I never learned was it a bug or passed testing undetected. I tried this on the newer Steam release, but this time it didn't work.

Pretty niche but actually is a huge ability if after you know. In Desperados 3, if you KO a guard and then you use Hector to throw that guard on top of one your other characters, it knocks them out. Meaning Hector can pick them up and throw them on to/over walls, up higher places etc. So much so that if there's an enemy on the higher elevate you can knock them out throwing your own teammate and the timers work to where you wake up before them. I got the platinum trophy and I never knew this, so it doesn't tell you and isnt required to do anything, but it would have made it easier.

I like them but take issue with their vetting and editing. They're on WatchMojo levels of not doing their homework and the editing often shows the character doing the opposite of what the VO is claiming or doing something else entirely. I dig the voice and presentation but they definitely don't vet these 'hidden' abilities. Hell, the MGS2 tiptoe thing is something the game tells you in a tutorial codec call.

#1 reminds me of a trick that works in Half- Life and Team Fortress 2: jump and press the crouch key/button in mid-jump. this makes your character pull his legs up, which makes it possible to jump on top of things that would otherwise be too high. for example, getting on top of the Bomb Cart in the Payload missions, or an Engineer standing on top of his Dispenser or Turret. i even know of a few places where an engineer can stand on top of his Dispenser, then, from there, he can place a Teleporter Exit in an otherwise unreachable spot! oh, it also makes Rocket Jumps and Stick Bomb Jumps work better!
