For the Windscreen Wiper trick, some models don't have this hidden feature but...there is a workaround! 1) Keep your driver's door open slightly 2) With your ignition on, set the windscreen wipers to 'rain sensor' or 'on' 3) As soon as the wiper arms are vertical, relative to the engine bonnet, switch off the ignition

I own a 2010 W212 and it allows me to simply move the wipers into the change position when the ignition is off. I dunno if that's supposed to happen but it does. When I want to change the blades, I just slide the wiper up and out of the recessed position. And when I'm done, I push it all the way down into the recess. But I'll try this button push method. Feels more 'correct'.

Hey Nick, thank you for the videos, new subscriber here, i just got my A class,i hope you can help and sorry if it is dumb question. When i am alone seated/Driving in my a class the “Passenger airbag 2 OFF” is constantly illuminated/lit, is that normal? When my husband seat on the passenger it changed to “ON”. When i am alone the Passenger Airbag 2 OFF is in orange light constantly. Kindly let me know if it is normal please.thanks

Started thinking what a terrible design with the wipers on my C43. The passenger side wiper can be fully lifted away from the windscreen, while the driver side wiper can only be lifted a few inches before bonnet cover prevent further movements. Great tip. Cheers.👍

In addition to the windscreen wiper, when in service mode (vertical), the wipers would go back to down to normal position should you pop open the bonnet.

Great video Nick. I knew of many but some I didn't. Didn't know about the handy wiper service mode without having to go into the computer. The sending locations from the Mercedes Me app is great and I use that especially if traveling abroad with unpronounceable addresses (I would otherwise normally speak the address into command).

OMG,,, I HAVE BEEN PULLING MY HAIR OUR TRYING TO GET THEM INTO THE SERVICE POSITION PER THE MANUAL ... It says to turn on the ignition and turn it off then hold the button for 3 seconds. Twice I have sprayed my whole car with washer fluid inadvertently and can't get it to happen in my 2021 AMG CLA 35. Gonna try this method . I was trying to figure it out so that i could show the detailer how to do it when i took the car to get ceramic coated. i searched and searched but never saw this video. hopefully it works when i get it back from them. i love you videos by the way. very informative

Question: when the key fob battery is dead for the Keyless Start ignition and you use the hidden key to unlock car door; how does the car actually start if key battery dead??

Hey Pauline, excellent question There’s an emergency physical key built into the main key itself. On most Mercedes the place to use this is hidden in the door handle. Once inside there is a dedicated place in most Mercedes to place the key typically in the centre console next to the cup holders. You’ll be able to start it here if the key battery is flat. Quite unlikely though, they last quite a while!

Today I was browsing used E Class coupe and came across an 11-month-old E 300D and I was completely taken aback by the colour of it. It was Rubelitte red metallic. I was that taken by it I drove for an hour to see it in the flesh and I was not disappointed it is an absolutely stunning colour. I'm interested in your opinion.

Hi Nick, with the multi beam headlight you can just push the left stalk forwards too and that will deactivate it quickly. Don't know if mine is playing up but I ha e to do this on motorways and even now and then on country lanes because they just don't shut the light off quick enough. Its an awesome feature but I don't think it's quite ready yet considering I get flashed from other drivers 2 times out of 10.

Absolutely you can deactivate it quite quickly! It is a very clever system with countless possible scenarios where you don’t have to do anything but yes there may be the odd occasion where you’ll have to operate it manually.

Hey Pravin, thanks for the suggestion! Yes the “see owner’s manual” just refers to the section where it can be explained in more detail. So the interactive manual on the car is just a basic version where as the book as everything that you’d need to know 🤓

8: If you are briefly in manual mode and want to switch back to automatic you can also move the gear selector in drive and that will do it immediately. No need to hold the shift up paddle for a couple of seconds.

So I’m looking forward to drive it home. A question though .... do the steering wheel and seats change position as you change profile in MBUX? Does it change by using each key as well? Hey Paul, honestly it does depend on the model with regard to the seat saving etc. I haven’t been able to memorise them all! 😅 Some models save it per profile but what I’ve seen more commonly at the moment is that it’s more leaning toward the memory buttons on the doors with the saving of the seat position. Both keys will be the same so it won’t be saved on there. Hope that answers your question!

Absolutely, when the sat Nav talks to you, just press the mute button! 🤓 If you do it when music is playing, it’ll mute the music, but do it when the sat Nav talks to you and it’ll mute that :)

Just 2 questions: is it always possible to link the steering wheel and mirrors to the heated seats or does this require a special option? And I have been unable so far to upload contacts from my(old) iphone. Any advice please?

Hey Beverley, Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying them! If you have memory seats on your car, then you can program the seat, steering wheel and side mirrors onto the Memory 1, 2 & 3 on the door. The heated seats don’t link onto anything else as they’re just a button on the door with 3 heat settings. If you’re iPhone hasn’t synced the contacts across the only way to get it going it to delete both pairings from your car and phone and start again. This can happen if a notification on your phone comes through while you’re in the middle of pairing and is quite common, just a simple pair it back up again will sort it 🤓

Hey Beverley, no sadly you can’t link the heated seats to memory. The memory seats are just for the seat position, steering wheel and mirrors. The heated seats are just 3 heat settings, you just press this button to put it on straight away 🤓 Separate buttons 👍🏼 Hope that helps!

Another great vid 🥂 When it comes to profiles, how can I get my profile to remember that I like the drive mode to be sport, and the stop/start feature to be disabled? Currently I have to press the button to turn it off and switch to sport mode manually each time.

Hey Vee Macks, Unfortunately those are both two things that the car won’t remember on the profiles :( Car’s have to start in Comfort by default for emissions regulations and I guess that would be the same thing for the auto start/stop technology. Glad you like the vid! 🤓

@@veemacks7255 In my German C238 from 2020 it works as follows: "Settings" -> "Vehicle" -> "Dynamic Select" -> "Individual Select" -> scroll all the way down. There one can activate the option. - Then you will be asked after starting the engine whether the old setting should be used. - After the engine has started, the question appears at the top of the MBUX and all you have to do is tap the field.

Hi Nick, The 2021 GLE we have has the air freshener option. I'm perplexed along with my family as to if it is actually working. It's not in my view. Do you have a video on it? I've ensured it's on and max level with the ionizer on and off in trying to get some sort of scent out of the vents, nothing. Do you know of any factory / dealer prep that should have been preformed prior to delivery or any troubleshooting for this feature?

Hey Robert, sadly no video on that feature I’m afraid! It’s a very rare feature in Mercedes but yes sounds like you’ve found the right menu for it. There are couple of settings ranging from low, med & high for the air freshener. If it’s not working as you’d expect, I’d get in touch with your local dealership who might be able to help diagnose what’s going on.

Hey Ravi B, Best thing is to check the eBrochures on the website. On each of the models Mercedes-Benz sell, it can be updated from time to time so the eBrochures are always a good place to go. If you have a Mercedes, you can speak to your local dealership and they can provide you with a spec sheet listing everything it has. Hope that helps! 🤓

Thanks Neils! Quite tricky to do to be honest! Voice assistants like Siri, Google, Alex & even Hey Mercedes are constantly updated and don’t have a global list. On your main multimedia screen if you have MBUX say: Hey Mercedes, What can I ask you? Or if you have COMAND, press the voice button up on the relevant screen (Phone, Navi, Media etc) and it will show a list on the screen.

Hi Nick. You say that a double click on the key to lock my EQB disables the key such that it cannot be scanned when the key is in the house. But if I go out to the car with the key in my pocket then I can unlock the car by touching the inside of the door handle. If the key is completely dead then how can this happen? Thanks Michael

Hey Mike, (just deleted my previous comment as I’ve just found this out! 😅) Since producing this video, newer cars have changed how the keys switch off KEYLESS-GO. Double tap the lock button is the old way but some newer cars now have a newer way. Hold lock and immediately press unlock twice to turn these keys off

Hey Arthur, by default cars from the factory arrive with the time not set for the specific country they’re going to but you can enable it to be automatic. Hey Mathieu, unfortunately no you can’t. Would be good if you could! It’s to do with emission regulations, cars now have to start in their default mode which in Mercedes is “Comfort” with Start/Stop enabled.

Hey MsLeahX, no sadly I haven’t made a video on a C-Class in 2016/2017. Depending on the specification, that year of C-Class had either Audio 20 which had Garmin Map Pilot or COMAND as it’s multimedia system so sadly no won’t have MBUX. MBUX has only come out in 2021 / 2022 in the C-Class so is really really new. Hi Nick Thanks for all your useful tips. I don't know if you covered this in an earlier video, but I managed to change the red triangle icon on my Garmin map pilot sat nav to the icon of a black car. Since updating the sd card, I can't remember how to do this. Can you help please?

Hi Enga, Sadly the newer versions of Garmin Map Pilot do not offer this, I noticed that as well on my previous Mercedes. That changed quite a while ago, it was something that Garmin had done on their latest update.

I have Mercedes AMG E-53. The headlights don’t work the way you illustrated. They never dip the light over incoming cars or traffic signs. Any explanation ?

Hi Saed, sorry a little hard to tell on here! Specs can vary massively round the world so you may have to get in touch with your local dealership to be sure. What year is your E 53 and where abouts are you based? In the UK? 🤓

@@npoleary I live in Michigan, USA and I have the 2020 AMG E-53 Cabriolet. I’ve taken it to my local dealership several times and they tested it but they had no clue.

Hi Saed, it’ll be all down to your specification on your car as I wouldn’t what equipment comes with E53’s over there. Here in the UK it’s standard but as always and rather annoyingly it varies massively round the world! You can check by looking for wording called “MULTIBEAM LED” on your actual headlights inside the housing. Alternatively you can check on your system by pressing HOME, then going to Vehicle / System and looking for Light/Light Settings. If it says “Intelligent Light System then you know you’ve got that feature. Hope that helps!

@@npoleary yes sir my car is equipped with multi beam led according to manufacturer’s built sheet but the lights don’t work in the way you described. They never dim over incoming traffic or over traffic signs. I took it to my local dealership in Grand Blanc, Michigan but they were unable to fix it despite I sent it to them over 5 times

hi nick ive just resently bought a 2017 e class amg line. is there any way that you can physically turn off the radio i know how to mute it but its becoming a pain every time i get in the car . the same goes the navigation voice can she be disabled . thanks for your help

Hey wilf, best thing to do is just select the Media button and make sure you’ve selected something that’s not in use like a USB port or something. That way the radio won’t come on when you first turn it on. 😀 With the Sat Nav prompt, no you will have to mute it each time, just press the volume button in when the Sat Nav talks.

Hi Nick I have a 2016 SLC 43 the NS mirror will not go down when in reverse I did as you said but nothing worked and I tried the Mercedes me app for the destination on the sat nav, it all worked on the app it said it sent it to the car but nothing happens on the car. Is the sat nav an older version? Many thanks Chris

Hi Chris, Sounds like the NS mirror trick isn’t on your one :( Honestly with those sorts of things, you’ll just have to try it with the vast majority of models specifications on Mercedes models out there. With the sending of addresses, it does depend on your Sat Nav system. In SLC’s you can either have Garmin Map Pilot or COMAND, do you know which one you have?

Hi Nick, does the wiper maintenance mode work on all models? On my 2017 E class it seem not to work. When I need to change the wipers I switch the contact on, press the wipe once button and when the wipers are in vertical position I quickly switch off the contact. Bit of trial and error unfortunately. Maybe there are different ways for different models?

couldn't get the viper blade to stick up vertically.. mine is 2018 glc.. (non mbux one).. does the same thing work?

It depends to be honest, if that doesn’t work try this that I pinned to the top 🤓 For the Windscreen Wiper trick, some models don't have this hidden feature but...there is a workaround! 1) Keep your driver's door open slightly 2) With your ignition on, set the windscreen wipers to 'rain sensor' or 'on' 3) As soon as the wiper arms are vertical, relative to the engine bonnet, switch off the ignition

How about a tip on turning off ESP please. I find that on a slope in the wet the esp cuts in far too quickly, the slightest bit of wheelspin and I can go nowhere.

Hey Robert, from memory on your C-Class Cabriolet you can turn off ESP on the instrument cluster screen on your steering wheel. It’s in HOME, SETTINGS, ASSISTANCE, ESP. You can toggle this on/off but just remember to put it back on 🤓

Oh I’m not sure then, I presumed it would be in the same place...the facelifted C-Class has that menu on the centre screen where as the model before that had it on the instrument cluster. I’m sure there must be a way to turn it off...

My first MB estate was a 300D in1983, followed by 9 upgrades over the years. Great to be back with such a great car. Thanks for the tips. @@npoleary Yes I have Command but thought I should consider fitting a dashcam for a photographic record in the event of an accident. Have looked at The MB model but it is rather expensive. Just wondered if you had considered dashcams for a video. I shall certainly be following your future videos, so well produced and easy for anyone to understand. Great work, thanks!

Hi Nick, Jim from Georgia USA again. I wonder if you have an answer to my query? My 2017 SL450 has oem disc brakes and I get a lot of brake dust. I wonder if I can just have the pads changed to ceramic without having to make any other changes? Thanks if you’re able to answer. 👍

Hi James, oh man sorry I wish I knew especially after your last comment! I honestly wouldn’t know if that can be done. My first try would probably be to contact a local garage and ask their advice. I haven’t really every had an experience with modifications on cars so wouldn’t want to misinform anyone. Hope you get your answer though!
