Sufism is a fluid concept. It’s a very personal journey. I am a white Muslim revert from Indiana. I was raised pretty hardcore catholic. I came to Islam when I got into recovery from drug addiction when I was a teenager. In Narcotics Anonymous I was on a spiritual path first but was called to Islam when I was 18 years old. I went through phases of stricter or more conservative practice but found that my worship (Salat, Dua & Dhikr) was not only a mindless practice but a very real way to connect the physical to the spiritual. I find my individual practice of Sufism is practicing the spiritual principles embodied in the 12 steps of NA and finding the ways they parallel Islam. 1 example is to help other addicts like myself get clean and stay clean. Among many other smaller ways. The point is that Sufism comes in all shapes and sizes and is not limited to just whirling or chanting. People have this misunderstanding of Sufism that it’s just Bidah...rather it’s just a way for us to practice Islam with more consciousness.

Absolutely, this is one of the personal experiences, not everybody can understand. I have seen many sufis converted many non-practicing people to ISLAM. It is not about chanting and dancing. It is about remembrance of God, helping every human becoming the pious as much as you can. It is one of the peaceful practicing I have ever come across. The sufis have healed many people from narcotics, evil possessions etc. You won't understand it unless you experience it. Now a days this become a business in many parts of the world. There are very rare people who follow the teachings of ISLAM sufis are one of them. Of course dancing, etc is prohibited that is extreme. May ALLAH help everybody to show the right path.

I am a Muslim who follow Tijjaniyya Sufi order from Nigeria. Sufism always tries to cleanse your heart of the following heart diseases: 1. Envy (for others) 2. Lies 3. Arrogance 4. Enmity 5. Animus 6. Egotism 7. Pride Sufi can achieve that by constant Zikr (supplicating names of Allah) which washes the heart, just like how the soap washes clothes. The fact that there are so much suffering today in the world is because so many hearts are filled with these diseases, and people don't care much for cleaning them. If every Muslim could follow the doctrines of Sufi's heart and soul therapy, then the world would have been a better place.

Sufism is NO different then Christianity. Christians believe in a personal relationship with God through Jesus christ. Just as sufis do with allah through muhummad. That's a bad argument. The Sahaba r.a. and the Prophet s.a.w. are all in the Qur'an. The practising of the prophet s.a.w. are collected by the Salāf and they were the Muslims, that knew the Qur'an best. The Ahadith are all from the Prophet s.a.w. The Qur'an also says about it "Indeed, in the messenger of Allah you have a good example..." Surah Al-Ahzab 21 That shows us in Ibn Kathir (a important sahabi), that we have to look at the deeds from the Prophet s.a.w. and follow him and do exactly the same ibadah. How would we know, how to pray, if it doesn't explain in the Qur'an? This ayah is answering us..

I subscribe to the Sufi way of practicing Islam which concentrates more on the spiritual aspects rather then the physical and mechanical aspects of performing worship. Sufi follows the religion with great respect and adherence to the the law and tenets of the faith . The core is to establish love andworship God to find peace and harmony .The majority of Muslims do subscribe to the teachings of the Sufi way however howmuch of it is practiced is upon the individual . Sufis have practiced Islam and maintained the true teaching from Prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon Him up till today through Authentic chains within the Sufi order as to preserve the true scripture and teachings of Islam .Sufis are commonly perceived as maybe in the extreme context of being the wildchild however the facts reveal that Islam has been preached and preservedin its true form by great Sufi Masters .They teach scripture not merely to read rather to understand and act upon in Harmony with the love of ALLAH .

Nice summary. I would add that the way you describe Sufism leans to Sufism as practiced in Turkey. For example Sufism practiced in India, Pakistan, Morocco would vary. Second point you seemed to talk about the experience of ecstasy as a goal. This is more state than station - a temporary situation. The goal to my way of understanding is beyond ecstasy, a place of total surrender to God where the I doesn't exist, only God exists - realization of the zikr. If that goal is reached there's no one to come back to. This is salvation and liberation of the soul from all elemental and mind connections.

There is one hadith that says people were making takbir after salat which is correct and thats what the sufi show as proof which is nonsense. Also there is another hadith that two people very happy and made takbir the prophet asks what are they doing. If the prophet did that he would not ask rather say good they are doing zikir also they were not doing sufism rather were just happy to see the prophet. Other then that i have not seen any other hadith. My Allah show us the right path and guide us. If you read all paths you will see the sunni islam is only way to go. Allah knows best.

Yes,Sunni and Shia are both influenced by sufism,but they don't accept the whole philosophy of sufism. A sufi is a one who almost totally accept and practice the teachings of sufism,and he will attend religious activities very often.He will mostly focus on the change of heart,the connection with god instead of their habits and behaviors.That's very different with those orthodox muslims who are influnced by sufism but don't totally devote into it.

We have too many denominations, whether you’re born into it or convert into it. Faith for whatever you believe in, is most important than the fundamental of the religion. Great presentation! While in college I came across Gurdjieff's work which is largely based on Sufism (unaware that it was Islam). I was fascinated by G.'s teachings, read all of his, Ouspenky's, Bennet's, and others books. I took the opportunity to visit Claymont, in WV (twice). I saw live whirling dervishes! I was taught open-eye meditation, techniques to center oneself, dancing to "sacred" music, and participated in group chores, mindfully. I've put these into practice, albeit spontaneously, since.

These orders are famous for all time. among them the combination of all orders is mojaddedia. mojaddedia order is very easy for all, male and female. this tarikas order's zikir is done secretly. not loudly. people remains in the croud but no one knows that the man is doing zikir. dancing, shouting is prohibited in this order. Sunna or sharia is followed strongly. In the very beginning of taking this tarika your kalb (heart will be live), and direct connetion to Allah will be stablished and and mystery will start .

It's a calling, a way of life, and not everyone is called. Often times when we experience spiritual awakening, the 'woke' ones will tell you to leave God/Religion in order to follow that spiritual path. So if you're born into Islam, there's already Sufism for your awakening. From then on, he was to be known as Aziz Mehmed Effendi, which was a distinction - the Sultan allowed him to use his own name. He was appointed the doorman at the palace, received a high salary, and was invited to live at the ruler’s court. Sabbatai supporters were stunned by the conversion. I saw a video of an ex-magician and he explained the ranking of the magicians who faked being scholars of Islam. The hierarchy he explained was similar to the Sufism ranking. Qutub and so on. What I remember from school was that Sufism was initially to love Allah more than fear him and be more conscious of Allah. But what I'm hearing is that in modern days it is being diverted to magicians where they claim if you reach a high level in Sufism you will be in the presence of Allah and prophet littirly. Once, Shaykh Junayd al-Baghdadi (QS) and he's disciples went on a trip to see visit another supposed Shaykh. When they began walking towards him they saw him swirling up months air. Shaykh al-Baghdadi (QS) saw him.later spit at the direction of the holy Ka`bah. When he saw this he immediately turn around and went. He's disciples asked why? He stated something along the lines as "Even a fly can fly. But those a true Shaykh should keep the proper `adab and obey the Shari`ah". I was paraphrasing there so you can look up the original story but my point is that no e of this falls into the category of magic. Perhaps there are those that engage in magic but the what they are doing is wrong as it contradicts the teachings of Islam

Sufi Muslims follows the way of the prophet and do a lot of sunnahs and NOT leaving the obligations that was commanded by God.. Even smaller sunnah such as Drench yourself in the rain is also a Sunnah of the prophet as little as that, we follow.. Sufis also trains themselves in getting rid of the ego, train to be humble, self realization of who we are being the children of Adam (humans) and our deeper connection to God.. If you wanna be a sufi muslim (its not a sect or a branch), there are a lot of things to be done such as try to do as much sunnah as you can, do not leave any prayers and also do more Sunnah prayers.. and always be in service to God and to take care of God’s other creations.. which means No Rudeness, try not to be ego, do not speak ill of others and always be humble and keep your head down (that way you get rid of the thinking that youre on top of others) and always dhikr (remembrance) of Allah.. always send your Salam to the Prophet Muhammad pbuh cause he has the key to Heaven, He will give intercession during your judgement.. If you ask me, Id rather be a sufi muslim than the mainstream muslims cause its all about self control, getting rid of the sickness in the heart such as anger, frustrations, backbiting, egos, ill intentions and awful thoughts bout others.. In Sufism, you are trained to be pure and its normal to fall, just try your best to be better :) inwardly with Allah, outwardly with the community.. may Allah guide all of us and may He shower us all in blessings..

Correct me if I’m wrong. To my understanding, Sufi is part of Sunni Muslim (Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamaah) but they focused more on the spiritual side rather than the worldly one. To be Sufi is to leave worldly pleasures and focus on spiritual aspects and cleansing of the heart. To be Sufi, you must avoid the heart diseases (envy, arrogance, wrath etc). So yeah. To me, Sufi people are pure of heart and always strives to better their connection with Allah. The only sufis that I know of (apart from all the prophets) are Ibrahim Bin Adham and Uwais Al-Qarni.

@@zedmelor8842 they dont worship , they ask evliya ullah (friend of Allah) people that are close to Allah for help, There are many verses in the quraan about them., because a guy that is closer to Allah has more the cance that the dua is accaple right, does people are not random people those are important people. @@moess1404 Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 186: And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright. Islam means 'to worship Allah SWT alone". You cannot worship the saints. Nor can you make dua to them. The prophet SAW said in the Saheeh hadith. Dua is worship. And as we know, worship is only for ALLAH. The polytheists of Mecca believed in Allah. Allah affirms this in the Quran. But what makes them disbelievers and polytheists? They would go to their idols to get closer to Allah. This is shirk and kuffar. You only go to Allah. Allah says in the Quran invoke me and I will respond to you. You don't go to saints to get closer to Allah.

I respect all Religions including Judaism ( Jews ) but, I can never respect those who call themselves Muslims and, Bow to anything or anyone but, Allah Subhaan Ya Taalah'. I've seen both Men and Women who not only bow to their PEERS but, also kiss their Hands, Knees and kiss their SMELLY FEET, and some of these people who kiss the PEERS SMELLY FEET are young girls. Only those men who have no Shame can ever allow their Mothers, their Daughters, their Sisters and their Wives to kiss a NON MEHARAM. If a Man or a Woman allows their Daughter to Kiss a PEER then, that means the Father and Mother are selling their Daughters Honour because, it has been known many times when these Parents leave their Daughters alone with their PEERS overnight. A Muslim would NEVER leave his Daughter, Mother, Sister or his Wife Alone with another Man even for ONE MINUTE

Very differcult topic to tackle. As a Salafi delving into the beliefs of the Sufi is almost mandatory. Realistically however, they believe there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. This makes them Muslims. They have various practices that goes outside of the realm of Islam. But it not fair or possible to clump all sufis into 1 group. This is due to tassawuf (asceticism) being an actual part of Islam. The majority of the problems are in thier description of Allah and thier lack of honest evidence for some of their beliefs on what constitute worship. You have done a lot of good videos on Islam despite not being Muslim yourself. It's quite baffling in my opinion. This video however was very weak in substance.

Although I don't agree with the Salafi 'aqidah I have to agree thatbthere are some people who unfortunately commit shirk under the name of Sufism. But this isn't the norm in any way. We follow the same 'Aqa'id as those followed by the madhahib. One huge misconception that I want to clear is the concept Wahdat ul-Wujud. It has absolutely nothing to do with Panentheism, in fact it's the opposite. Wahdat ul-Wujud is the belief that the Only True Existence is that of Allah, everything else is just existing by His Preservation. So the heavens and the earth exist, but compare to Allah you can't truly call say that they are Existing.
