Peter definitely felt weaker in the story, but I think it was because of a combination of the enemies becoming more powerful and Peter not giving himself time to rest and recover after the events of the first game I mean this guy had several bones broken and continues to be Spider-Man for all that time. Something tells me he probably isn’t working at full capacity. At least until the Symbiote heals his body.

Heres a fun fact/ theory: Insom Spideys Comic counterpart is Not canon to The games, but more interestingly Game Spidey is a B varient of Comic Spidey. What a varient is is kind of unclear, but in ATSV, its said that different Universes have different Varients. This is there to probably explain how there are 2 Spider Societies that havent met yet. I havent personally read all the comics myself, but the easiest way to debunk them being the same universe is that Comic Spidey says there are only 6 heroes in his world. The heroes being the Avengers. If we go by traditional avengers line ups, Best case scenario is where he isnt counting black widow and Hawkeye as heroes, which not only makes no sense but there are more than 6 confirmed heroes in Insoms universe List from the top of my head: Captain America Iron Man Black Panther Daredevil - Peter knows he exists Dr strange - Peter MIGHT know him Wolverine - his suit is shown in leaks The avengers exist , which could mean Hulk Ant man Hawkeye Thor Black widow The FF is confirmed so Sue Johnny Ben Reed Which is already over 6. The defenders might be around because Jessica is Peters age and this means they've gone through the stuff in the 8 years since. Iron fist is confirmed to be around though

Venom, symbiotes in general, are emotional parasites. Harry is a meek person, his emotional world is more contained and not as impassioned as Peter. Peter has a lot of weight and power, and responsibility to himself, his friends, his city, his community, a lot of grief. He's emotional and dramatic and he spreads himself too thin. He's intellectually engaged, but he is not a zen man, and he is the perfect host for a creature that feeds on swirling negative thoughts. The "Venom" symbiote was always Venom, it just lay dormant on a dormant host until it met a host more suited to its needs.

Personally besides of what you said I think one reason Peter was nerfed was because of how overjoyed he was because he got Harry back that made him lose focus sometimes, like he was always thinking about his future and the things he will do in Emily May foundation . GP to me respectfully I really dont think he is nerfed, at least the way people think so, peter being thrown around like a ragdoll is completely normal for peter parker, especially with insomniacs version, peter is known for getting beat up and always getting up, which is exactly what insomniac peter does almost everytime, and he has the anti venom suit, far more powerful than he was in sm1. But you can argue peter wasn't mentally in a right place, which is true, but the people saying he was nerfed because they wanted to make Miles look good is kinda ridiculous, there completely ignoring the stiry reasons, amd him having help is perfectly normal for insomniac peter.

I love the theory of Peter's mental state connects to the Symbiote. It's a lore thing that the Symbiote doesn't turn people dark or evil; it helps you embrace and let out deeper, unhealthy emotions. Venom as a character is the embodiment of Peter's toxic emotions, all the mistakes he made when having the Symbiote. Even Insomniac said the Symbiote is an allegory for drug addiction.

I feel like Peter was more nerfed because of the reasons you mention but also he probably developed a reliance on the help Miles gives him, he trusts Miles after the events of SM:MM to do quite a lot, so him being more easily knocked about could be him being too relaxed from having help all the time

I very much got the sense the symbiote was something that bonded to Harry forcefully via Norman and Kurt's experiments to save his life, typically the symbiotes are drawn to powerful negative emotions which is why it bonds so well with the anger of Eddie Brock or bitterness of Peter, etc. When Harry cam directly in contact with Peter the symbiote IMMEDIATELY tried bonding but only got so far as copying the spider logo due to the brief connection, the symbiote caught the scent of Peter's grief and frustration and it wanted to go to him, and then when it bonds with Harry once more all the stewing negative emotions manifest in a primal form due to Harry's pure rage and spite. Also regarding Carnage, my guess is they use him as a smaller antagonist that starts the first third or so of the game like Mr.Negative, then Peter loses the Anti Venom suit, this is when Norman decides to go Goblin to get the upper hand and team up with Ock to finally kill Spider Man. Or use Ock as a patsy before going Goblin as a last ditch effort.

From what I heard of what we learn of the symbiote in the comics, you might be right about the Venom theory. I heard this theory before. I didn't read the comics, so I don't know for sure, but another video I watched said that in the comics it's revealed that the Venom symbiote was not always aggressive and only learned that from being bonded with a psychopath on another planet before coming to Earth. Symbiotes are not born evil, they learn based on who they get bonded to and carry those traits forward. It's possible that in the Insomniac universe, the symbiote was fine when it was first bonded with Harry but picked up all these negative traits from Peter. I really like this theory. I like your last idea too. I also hope they don't keep the Anti-Venom suit. I think it could happen in this Venom game I keep hearing about. My theory has been that Insomniac had two potential scenarios for Carnage: either DLC or a Venom game based on the response to that Venom mission in Spider-man 2. Since people starting begging for a Venom game after playing that, my theory is that they went with that instead of DLC. Peter with the Anti-Venom suit could show up in that and maybe he could use it up to beat Carnage like you said. Or, more likely in my opinion, it'll be to defeat Knull. I predict Carnage will be in the Venom game, but not the main baddie. It'll be Knull. He has already been teased in Spider-man 2 as well since his symbol was on the meteorite. At any rate, I hope Carnage is not in Spider-man 3. I personally do not want any symbiotes to be apart of that game. I feel it'll distract from the Goblin storyline too much and plus we've had enough symbiotes in Spider-man games to last us for a while. It's better handled in a Venom game I think.

I mean, canonically, the symbiote is influenced by the host as much as the host is by the symbiote. In the comics, the Venom symbiote is only as maniacal as it is because at some point in its past, it bonded with Deadpool, and that broke its mind.

I'm of two minds when it comes to the Anti-Venom Suit's fate. One is that if that Venom game is real, he will lose it there fighting Carnage, as you predicted. The other thought is that they could bring back suit powers in the next game as they had with Spider-Man PS4 and have the symbiote rage as a suit power. That one is a stretch, I know, but I think that could please both sides of the argument.

If we all had to take a shot every time Peter almost died or thrown into something hitting his back, some would be passed out on the floor. I was waiting for the perfect Tobey Easter Egg and say ‘my back’ at the end to MJ. This was not the Peter that took down the S6 in the first. I know the devs have said they have nothing planned for SM2 DLC....however, it's not going to surprise me if the devs do what Santa Monica did with the Vallaha DLC for GOWR....or they could make a SM2.5(A Directors Cut)....they havent said no to adding more suits... A Legacy Suit Pack of all remaining suits from the first two games.... 1 Yr Anniversary Suit Pack that includes a hoodie version of the evolved suit, ultimate spider-man(1610 and 6160), ben reily's sensational suit, 2099 ACTSV Suit for Peter, Prowler Earth 42 ACTSV Suit for Miles, Spider-Cop(both for Peter and Miles), a Prowler themed outfit, as with a Mysterio themed outfit for Peter...maybe even Daily Bugle/Sinister Six inspired suits for Peter and Miles....heck I'd love to see some Symbiote outfits too...and even more weather options/Symbiote aggressive dialogue/web wings/tendril color changes... Story DLC? Carnage, Hydro-Man, Beetle, Chameleon, Silvermane, Taskmaster, Black Cat, (interactions with Symbiote Spidey, maybe a new version of the Sinister Six and seeing Venom in his own story expansion....

The intention was for Peter to have his face showing when he ran into Harry, obviously it was scripted that he would run into Harry instead and never be seen by Connors and for whatever reason Insomniac wanted that scene to be face to face without the mask. In conclusion Connors doesn't know Peter's identity

The insomniac games are great, but I wish sm2 was just better, so much missed opportunity, the gamplay was done so well, but there shoudve been way more to the story and the side missions were just meh, and no dlc is just a bummer. But some of the complaints people make for sm2 is just ridiculous.
