He knows what he is talking about and is always learning and developing new methods and magic in production. Listen up, Nathan is the real deal not just some video entrepreneur.

If you think the Logic acoustic drums sound bad, you’re not using them right. They need processing. I get big, realistic sounds from them. Plus you can use any drum samples you want. Also the Logic Drummer is great.

The stock Logic Pro EQ, not even the vintage one, just the simple channel EQ is CLUTCH for subtractive and quickly cleaning up guitars with low/hi pass filters. Glad you made this video, so many people go on a buying spree instead of just trying the stock plugins built into the program!

Dude you left out Step FX and Phat FX which are the best Logic stock plugins! Also Alchemy & ES2 are killer synths & silver verb is almost as good as Valhalla. Another thing that’s cool is if you hold down option when clicking on the audio fx lane you can access logics legacy plugins and one of them is called silver compressor which is an amazing hidden gem.

One super weird but cool trick with the vocal transformer is that you can turn any polyphonic loop into a playable instrument if you drag the loop into logic, put vocal transformer on it in Robotize mode which will force all the sound to one note then drag it into Q-sampler. It doesn't always produce magic but you can get some pretty intteresting sounds with it.

WIth Cubase I have always most of the time used stock VST effects almost exclusively and only tend to install third party freeware VST effects if I need something that Cubase doesn't have like a particular type of reverb. With both Cubase Artist and Mixcraft I have done so many productions entirely in the box even using only stock instruments.

When I heard about Flex Pitch before having Logic Pro I was so excited to use It. But, after use it I became disappointed about flex pitch because it damages the recording. It adds distortion and some noise. Just the fact of turn on flex pitch in the track without any changes it ruins the quality of recording. I hope someday they will fix it. The tool has so much potential. Love the video and your channel. Keep going! :)

You are right, if there are plusives in your vocal recordings - pop-filter is must. Also if you're a breathy singer it can mess with those. I clean up my track excessively before using any flexpitch. I love it!

🎹 Great presentation and production. No doubt this was time intensive to make this video. Just found your channel. Subbed. Do you have a video on the MOTU 16A or 8 being used on the iMac? Just read an alarming complaint about the issue published early 2021. Look forward to checking out all your videos over the days ahead. By the way, your report pretty much targets modern day musicians vs composers, where as my stuff is geared more towards film, and orchestral works. I always use external drums. Do you have a favorite external plugin (add on) for strings, such as Hollywood Strings? Hope you have the time to respond in detail, as lots of others also use Macs. Warm regards. -James

@@NathanJamesLarsen so basically, supposing I've programmed in a particular session and export the midi files, and id like to take those midis into another logic session without the sound changing. How can i do that? When I import into another session, the midi tracks are in place but the sound changes to some random sound, often steinway piano. How do i keep the sounds from changing/ retain the original sound and processing on these midi files?

Hope you had a great break, it was well deserved! One question that is semi off topic: I am definitely on the fence of getting Komplete 13, especially now since there is sale. Would you say it is reasonable to start with the Select version, and then upgrade from there? I know I will probably get the Ultimate pack (which I know you have promoted) eventually, but it seems a bit much to go all in when there is a possibility to upgrade between the versions.
@JeffyG2 жыл бұрын
Prob old news, but I too was thinking about Komplete 13 for over a year then suddenly bought it 50% off on Black Friday. It’s very good and quite extensive - lots to learn and try. Warning: you need 650gb to download and install the standard edition. I used an external ssd and there were some insulation issues to overcome.

@NathanJamesLarsen2 жыл бұрын
Yep - I never said it didn't have the ability to cut. I said that I typically use it for additive EQ as opposed to subtractive.
