I would put Mirko on the list, he finished his career on a 10 fight winning streak, culminating with a tournament win. He probably would have kept going for a while if it weren't for the stroke. It wasn't in the UFC, so that needs to be taken into consideration, but he still had quite a bit of success after the Gonzaga KO and an overall dissapointing UFC tenure.

15:28 people sleep on Brandon Vera. Brandon Vera was a beast that planned on being a double champ back when both weight classes were stacked. He did beat big names but also had bad luck. He had some injuries and some close fights. I think looking back he obviously couldn’t run thru both divisions and take on what he thought. But if he focused on one division and stayed away from the brainwashing crazy coaches and I think he would have made it higher in the division that he chose

7-7 isn't too bad for an over the hill athlete that was still competing at the highest level. Look at any legend in traditional team sports, who played for a long time, their last few years usually weren't great.

Randy Couture is probably my biggest inspiration in MMA. Nick Diaz was my first favorite. People have to remember that Randy has fought the boggymen over and over. And in the beginning... .like UFC 15 or so, Vitor was the new champ and no one wanted to fight that jacked up kid. Vitor wasn't even 21 and he was on the juice and was so scary. No one thought Randy would stand a chance and he absolutely shut Vitor down with his dirty boxing and close quarters fighting. It felt like the adult was teaching the kid a lesson in manners. It was so cool to see. Randy did it again with Liddell and perhaps again with Sylva but Sylva, to me, wasn't as good as the other two guys at the time. Still a great achievement though.

@TheElbowMerchant3 күн бұрын
His win over Dustin Jacoby recently is a good start, even though it's only one win after a trio of devastating KO losses. He may need to completely overhaul his striking defense, because his chin seems to let him down after the Jones loss (which I agree, he should have been given the nod), but other fighters have managed to make those types of career turnarounds, so I wish him the best. He's still incredibly dangerous on the feet, just needs to take less punishment, which is easier said than done when you're a (primarily) standup fighter in the LHW division.
