Learning how to properly counter spark will be your greatest asset in this game no matter what build you make. Being able to defend yourself is what is most important cause you WILL take a lot of hard hits. Read your allies ability's well when doing those jobs where they are an option because at times, they'll do all the killing for you. Finally I also reccomend clearing everything out that you can before proceeding with the main story, this mean getting collectibles, liberating the different areas of bad guys & killing fugitives, this way by the time you start focusing on the story missions, you will have a lot of gear & about as much strength & power as possible. Don't rush through the game, take your time. Stealth kills take longer yes BUT they also don't use up your resources they way they would if you just fought everyone face to face, you'll need that energy & those resources for the bosses...

This exact explanation is how I play through the game I like to 100% the map before doing the main missions and stuff, unless there certain areas i have to progress before I can get to the collectibles, the shinobi combat style is what got me counter sparking pretty good, although I do have some badly timed ones sometimes that I get punished for! @@vinewood8295 don't play the game if you don't enjoy clearing the maps first is honestly great advice. The repetitive map clearing is a very unoriginal and very lazy open world mechanic so people should know to save their money if they don't want to spend hours doing it.

I recommend turning on auto pick up. I prefer just running past materials and automatically picking them up vs having to hit r1. Works on horse as well.

@KEVIN-74 can't remember what option it is, but look through settings. It will pick up anything you even remotely walk close to. Like 3 feet away and it'll automatically pick it up. Very useful IMO

A tip when selling your items: while holding down the square button, move from item to item and it will auto select the items you come across while holding the square button

most useful thing to do. turn on auto pickup and also set the auto sell loot. I set the auto sale items to tier 3 loot so I only keep the yellow gear. you'll get hundreds of items very quickly and pain to keep up with. 😊

Just got the platinum trophy, and nearly 100h in the game and I can honestly say: do NOT waste any(!) upgrade material unless you are on midnight difficulty and character level near 100, cuz you gonna regret it. It is so freaking expensive later on

As a tip: watch what elixers your using. 1 kind you can carry a lot, but can not craft or buy. The other you can obly carry 3, but you can craft and buy. Use these ones, except for in difficult boss fights.

@@omeji1057 in the overall world design yes it borrows heavily from Ghost. The combat is very different though. It’s like the 1v1 Samurai fights in Ghost but there’s a lot more depth. Ghost’s mob combat is far superior though. With Ronin you’ll have to use stealth a lot more

@@PeopleRTheProblem The combat is predominantly concentrated to 1 button. The stances are the same as nioh, but you get fighting styles with each weapon that completely change the combat/combos. There are also special moves you unlock with each weapon. Some of the moves you can pull off when you level up the weapon proficiency are incredible. Idk really how to put it all into words, but it just feels kind of simple at first, but it gets way more fleshed out.

One trick that i find very useful in combat is to NOT use counterspark on basic enemy combos. I just block or dodge those, and only use counterspark against the red glows (unblockables). Also do not constantly keep pressing block while in combat, as it slows the ki regeneration. Your ki will refill much faster if you let go of the L1 as soon as you find some distance from the enemy. Also keep using blade flash (R1) all the time in combat as it instantly gives some of your ki back letting you dodge/block the next blow from an enemy in case you have run out of your ki

A second thing i found very useful was to turn on auto disassemble on the lowest quality gear in the game menu, as i usually never equip those and they dont really sell for good sum, so better to just disassemble them automatically and collect all those raw materials for upgrades

I block the basic moves except for the last one of the combo chain bc If you counterspark the last hit of the combo it has the same effect as countersparking the red glow except it doesn't give you critical it but it staggers them for you to start you own combo.

I'm loving the game but I am a little frustrated that I still haven't found any need combat styles for the dual swords. I mean I'm still pretty early into the game but I've found multiple new styles for ox tail, katana, greatsword, spear, Sabre, pretty much every weapon other than the weapon I use the most, the dual blades... I use the dual blades and ox tail blade the most but I just cant find anything for the dual blades... can someone tell me how to get new styles for them please?

I'm probably way too late for this but I have been playing it on the medium difficulty and I have to say it's been much easier than your typical Soulsborne game (plus there's a casual mode so you can enjoy the story). I haven't found that I've run out of healing items yet plus you get lots of revives when you have a teammate so it's very forgiving and also rewarding when you can win that one fight that's held you up for a while.

These games desperately need a handful of factors to be fantastic In addition to the classic block perry/ dodge system you must have the ability to grab, shove, trip and throw enemy characters in addition to hand to hand capability like punching kicking and strangles A tighter third person view so it feels more realistic rather than like you're playing a game Absolutely no camera orientation unless you use the dash button... this actually functions as a quick glance system as well 100% reliable intercepts, if someone is trying to hit you and you hit them first it stops their blow or causes it to miss Block and stamina gauges rather than fantasy unblockable attacks where you're forced to dodge or perry... the only attack that should be unblockable should look unblockable like a giant swinging a club, a fast attack with a light weapon should never be "unblockable" it should just take down your gauge A grab commmand that's totally independent, your character should never automatically stick to or grab ANYTHING especially ledges during climbing sequences This also goes for cover systems you should never automatically enter cover only off a button prompt Icon hunting is another major problem, allow the player to hold the action command and simply walk into the field for the action to take place not walk into the field and wait for the command prompt. This is a very tired old trope that consistently reminds you you're playing a video game They must slow down the overclocked Kung Fu action in order to be taken seriously, frankly when prattling on about historical significance then giving me a kung fu fight scene they really take me out of the experience, characters should never move around like an agitated molecule but instead have weight and inertia, this is especially important for your heavy characters Characters should never slide across the ground or spin in mid air... hitboxes need to be religiously accurate and you must always have a save anywhere feature skippable cutscenes and the ability to turn off the gauge over your enemy telling you their exact health, the best games would simply replace the health bar with obvious posture and form deterioration GHOST of Tsushima came the closest to all these features and that's why it's a superior title
