I was trained in Isshinryu, a similar style to gojuryu. We share most of the same kata and theory of fighting, but not all. If I punch someone in the Jaw as hard as I can punch, it will break their Jaw. If you punch me in the body, I passed Sanchin Kata breathing, and I won't even flinch, even though yes, I am overweiight and 23 years out of practice, I can still do that. I can still punch a concrete and wood composite headboard and break it, and I can still thrust kick through two of them stacked. Not those crappy ponderosa pine boards. I'm talking about the headboards of a sturdy bed. I can PUNCH that and break it in half or kick through two of them stacked, because I was trained by an Okinawan GM. I'm a natural 185 pounder, but I can beat a natural heavyweight or superheavyweight in a fight, even if they are a second degree black belt. That's because I trained harder than anyone else in my sensei's dojo, and he trained us to REALLY beat the snot out of anyone in a self defense situation.
@WadeSmith-oe5xd7 ай бұрын
I use the Isshinryu Vertical Fist Straight Punch for both my Jab and my Cross punch. It is also called the "China Punch". It has been proven to be both faster and stronger than the twist punch used by boxers, at least for most people.

@@WadeSmith-oe5xd Now you got a point... this is how I know Karate since when I started on this about 30 years ago. I've seem a lot of black belt Karate "fighters", even on MMA and world competitions, that doesn't have a minimum of energy and power on their strokes that I would expect from a real Karate black-belt. How it occurs? How can we have such different levels of Black belts? This is what concerns me.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I think the problem with the guy was that he didn't manage his stamina well. He was winning the first fight, but he also spent more energy moving around than he needed to in that fight. As the result, after the first half of the fight, he started breathing heavily, by the end of the fight, he looked really exhausted, while the smaller one (although he lost) looked like he could go for a few more rounds. In the second fight, he was tired enough for the opponent to take the initiative for a while. But by the third fight, we can clearly see he had almost nothing left.

That big guy is a black belt???
@XxAlexanderProxx4 жыл бұрын
Kukuh Prasetiyo This is why the MMA community feels they could challenge traditional Martial Art. Stop just giving people black belts. I fought many MMA fighters, Street fighters, and traditional competition. I am still undefeated. I was not even the best at my Dojo. I have respect for most Martial Arts because it teaches people discipline. But when it comes to creating warriors, Let’s stop giving everyone participation trophies.

for someone that has never done this, my thoughts: (1st opponent)guy: hmmm ok...i see where we're going with this (2nd opponent, after first front kick) guy: o wow...that leveled up quick (all opponents after that) guy: which guy is this? this has to be like 9 by now much respect though, that looked tough

This is a great example of heart and respect on both sides, the longer this big guy went...he still had control and he was gassed so early, his test mates were aware and respected his journey

Trebla Nerol Gnatibgam Yep, I like to think of it like this, Goju and Shotokan got married and had a son, they named him Kyokushin.

@@songoku9348 it also has korean and japanese kempo also taekkeon and muai thai, boxing influence. Originally kyokushin also had components of judo and head punching. But it all got lost.

David and Goliath...at 4:22 the big guy was running out of gas, nice take down on him with that opponent. I must say that I am surprised the smaller opponents were not attacking his thighs more...to cut a tree down attack the base. Thanks for the video.
