I remember cutting the wrong limb first, and had to go through all sorts of cracking floor, giant swings and fireballs to get to the other limb. When I finally defeated this boss, I checked walkthrough online and found out the correct sequence to cut the limbs, and the walkthrough said if you cut the one on the left first you might as well delete your save file and start anew because it's next to impossible to get to the right arm now. Well, guess it's not impossible after all.

Shrine of Amana? Equip a bow. Easy area. Players with the mindset of just running through areas hate it, because you really can’t do that. DS2 is like that most of the time. Skipping through an area is often punished, with enemies that chase you forever, or interactive objects that don’t make you invincible. Also, the trick with the water is a torch. This will let you see the drop offs under the surface. Yes, that’ll make lizardmen attack from further away, but they’re easy. It’s part of how DS2 made torches an interesting mechanic in several areas.

Lost Izalith is such a sad reminder that the original product was super rushed. The concept art is so cool, but the final product is so underwhelming because the team was working under deadlines.

falcon i have some advice for the mini-boss in that poison pit area in sekiro. you can cheese it by forcing it to stand in the poison pools and staying out of it's reach, baiting it to snipe at you and either blocking with the loaded umbrella, deflecting the shots, or simply side stepping them. it's a bit tedious to do and you gotta walk the boss on to solid land again in order to poison them again once it wears off but it makes it easier to deal with by a crapload. you can speed it up with the loaded umbrella's follow up attack after you get it charged up from blocking the snipes, as well as getting a stealth deathblow before you initiate the fight. just be sure you clear the adds up as best as you can before you start the fight. gachiin sugar's are your best friend while doing so.

No mandatory Bloodborne areas on here which I think speaks to the excellent design of the game in general. The Defiled Pthumeru Chalice definitely feels like they wanted to add a little actual Souls into the game. Having half health makes you play much more defensively in a game that typically rewards aggression, because a lot of things can one- or two-shot you now. One thing worth noting is that you do get the best blood gems from Cursed dungeons, so there is a reward for doing them. I've spent so much time on the Watchdog of the Old Lords at this point that I almost kind of perversely look forward to that fight when I'm derping around doing various user-shared chalice dungeons. (I particularly like the Whirligig Saw in that fight.) The chalice dungeons do give this optional way to fight different enemies and bosses in very different scenarios, which is kind of cool. And it's not just copy and pasting bosses into the rest of the normal game like the other Souls games. But, yeah, Defiled Pthumeru is definitely the real challenge of the game.

Code veins knockoff anor londo easily beats all of these combined. A 3 level high labyrinth where everything looks the same, connects together in weird ways and takes like half of the games playtime just to get through just because you cant find the goddam exit...yeah code vein is great

On my first playthough of Dark Souls 2 right now, and I must say I enjoyed Shrine of Amana. I took it slow and steady and yes I had some troubles and a couple of deaths but overall still had fun. On the other hand, Iron Keep...I never want to do there again. This is the first time in my Souls journey where I legitimately got tired and almost demotivated to continue. The Alonne Knights are just the worst. Followed by middle finger boss and bonfire placements, double red phantom invasions at the beginning and so much fire. My gosh I needed it to end.

I agree with the anor londo archers honorable mention being one of the worst areas in dark souls, though for a different reason, I think it's one of the worst places in ds1 because it goes entirely against the hard but fair design philosophy of ds1, as an example, think of the first time you encounter a painted guardian, he's by himself, in an open space so you can move around him easily. after that straightforward encounter, the game throws a curveball by making you fight some on narrow rafters, but it's fine because you just fought one in a controlled environment and get to understand how it works and fights. then you get to the god damn anor londo archers, your FIRST ENCOUNTER with silver knights, and it's literally the hardest one! every other encounter with silver knights in the game is easier than this first one, top that off with the left archers AI being really finnicky (he's supposed to stop firing arrows once you get to the top section, but sometimes he'll shoot an arrow at your back anyway) It's a perfect example of how not to scale your difficulty progression in a game, oddly enough coming right after a perfect example of how to properly scale difficulty with the painted guardians. once you're beaten the game, and go back, yeah, you can get past them easily, but it's because you know how they work at that point, when to parry, etc.

First time (it was on ps4, thank god it went more than a frame a week) i kinda of cried myself to sleep. My brother did it before me but he was at the seaside with parents and I was home alone and pretty blue. Somehow managed to descend it and gave the middle. Second run was like "oh wait the ladders are where the torches are?" and it went like a trip at the ice cream factory

I dont really agree with the ranking as I liked some of the areas like Izalith because the lava part isnt that big if you figuered it out and after it its really awesome to explore the ruins (+ Solaire) or black gulch which is looking pretty awesome, is short and I liked the enemys there, really nightmareish. Shire of storms and tomb of giants are easy with the right items. My most hated area by far is shrine of amana because the range of the casters is ridiculous and it took me many hours to progress an area you could run across in 3 mins if you're good and you know it well. Also suprised Iron Keep from from DS2 isnt included as you have to fight 15 strong knights every time you wanna attempt one of the hardest bosses of the game. Its just frustrating and no fun at all
@offworlder4613 жыл бұрын
Well, i think this list is based on players' first time experiencing the areas. Pretty much every areas in every souls games can fun once you've, as you say, figured it out, since it becomes easy.

My first time playing dark souls was after watching a speedrun. And while I didnt try and speedrun myself, starting with the master key and going to blight town through the exit was great. Ive since gone back and have done the area proper, but im glad I did it the way I did on my first playthrough

Bruh, i love mibu village. Not for the visuals, but for all those enemies you can take down without resting on a bonfire. Its like a perfect place to farm, also, it can be used to try every weapon and item in your inventory. I feel its pretty underrated in a way of being your sandbox. And the lore of the area is something i enjoy

I actually find the defiled amygdala harder than the watchdog because staying to the left of the watch dog can have you avoid half of the attacks while after you break his head just shooting it or attacking before the increased damage dissapears you can kill it without being touched even once

Shrine of storms is actually my favorite area in DS but I gotta give it Frigid outskirts for least favorite. Navigating that blizzard hellhole while getting jumped by reindeer only to get to a gank boss fight made that place a nightmare.
@danielolsen84903 жыл бұрын
Shrine of storms is kinda rad, right?
@zzodysseuszz3 жыл бұрын
I have a feeling frigid outskirts and shrine of Amana are on here…..both of which are the most overhated areas in the series. 1.) frigid outskirts has no enemies aside from the reindeer’s. they only spawn once per blizzard and they die easily (3 attacks from a grand lance) plus they stun easily as well. The dark crypt black sword absolutely shreds them and you most definitely have this build by the time you’re playing this dlc and if you don’t then you’re playing the game wrong. Very regular area. It was overhated. 2.) shrine of Amana is only bad if you rush the area (you can still successfully rush it if you’re careful) and the only bad part per se is the drake knights right before the fog wall with the poison snail things in it. It’s literally only a bad area if you try to rush the whole thing and have a crappy build.

For me the place I hated revisiting in demon souls when I got a hold of the remake was the prison of hope 3-1 I remembered how anxious I was when I first played the PS3 version but since then I played through blood-borne so I thought maybe it wouldn’t bother me anymore. Not only did it still affect me just as much as it did back then, I also made the colossal mistake of trying to play the level at 3 o’clock at night. Needless to say my dreams were filled with Bell ringing mind flayer’s.

That area reminds me of Bloodborne sooo much. I love Bloodborne and didnt play Demon Souls until the remake so it was one of my favorite areas right off the bat. But it was a bit creepy and unsettling at first, not even gonna lie.

Demon Souls remake is absolutely amazing, it sounds and feels like a true next-gen game. The Depraved chasm was the worst place for me. I was hoping Elden's ring would look like this:P but o well I know Elden is open world and old gen compatible but that's not a valid excuse seeing Horizon Forbidden West is also open world and old gen compatible.
