It' unbelievable that Who Framed Roger Rabbit isn't on this list. Maybe it's on the first list, since the "more" in this title suggests this is an additional list? I hope so.

Monty Python's The Meaning of Life has one of the best troll openings ever. It starts with a short film no one was expecting which doesn't feature a single member of the MP cast until the last minute, making everyone think they're watching the wrong movie.

I suppose it's more of a mid-opening.....But I Loved how Deadpool 2, pre-release, was marketed completely around his new team, With some big celebrity and comic book names, some mystery, and hyping up X-Force.....And then they immediately all die, Perfect. I should of known when they added Zeitgeist to the team

I wonder if the opening of Citizen Kane would act as trolling? The suggestion of Rosebud, the searching for the meaning throughout the movie, the reveal at the end and the actual meaning of the term as it related to William Randolph Hearst.
@benmcfee

I agree but I'm not sure if it counts because it was _only_ trolling Hearst... and possibly his mistress.

EVERY original Star Trek series fan knows about the Kobayashi Maru scenario. And all the films were geared to Trekkies, so this came as a surprise to no one in the theaters. It's like saying fans were surprised Spock was Vulcan. It's hardcore canon. Cheers....

The openings of Star Trek Generations & First Contact likely also fit this definition (in Generations, Kirk appears to die saving the Enterprise B, & in First Contact, Picard has a dream within a dream of being re-assimilated before really waking up).

The beginning of “Team America: World Police” had my friend and I in absolute stitches. Seeing those goofy puppets when we saw the quality puppets a la the old “THUNDERBIRDS” series, we just couldn’t help but start laughing. We simultaneously did and did not know what to expect from those blokes, and we were immediately hooked, happy, laughing, and could not wait for the rest of the hilarity to unfold. What an absolute treasure. I was only disappointed by a couple of harsh jabs, but, with them, no one is sacred or safe from their scrutiny. Still so quotable, too! 😂

Simple. The translator failed him earlier in the movie. The real Julia was inconsequential and more of a chore to track down and kidnap than just use his translator whom he was going to kill anyway.

“The Cabin in the Woods” *did* get me. I had missed it in theaters when it released because the trailer made it seem like a really meh “EVIL DEAD” rip off. I moved away for college, but kept a tradition of going home for Halloween to trick or treat with my niece, and, when we were all done, I’d head over to my best friends house to hand out/eat candy and watch a horror film before I’d drive back to school. He suggested the movie and I told him it looked stupid. He assured me it wasn’t, and when we sat through that opening, I turned to him and said, “Did you accidentally select the wrong movie from the menu,” he shhhhhhhed me and then I turned back for that loud scream jump scare of the title card, and it was all so amazing. One of my very favorite Halloweens in my memory.

Another amusing fact for #5. Soon after the start of the movie, there's a hilariously bad Puppet Fight which misleads those watching for the first time that this is how all the fights in the film will look. But all the other fights in the film are great, so this was just a great prank on the part of Parker and Stone.

Scream VI started off in a seemingly by the book, paint by numbers manner. Then it actually looked like it was going to do something interesting for a minute before descending into mediocrity. A missed opportunity.

Team America is both laughably poor quality, and insanely detailed and well put together, simultaneously. And it's amazing. They clearly did certain things "bad" on purpose, just to make it dumber and funnier, like the way the puppets violently jerk around when they walk🤣🤣🤣 Stone and Parker are not right in the head, in the best way.
@SpamEggSausage
@SpamEggSausage Жыл бұрын
the best jokes in that movie were at the expense of how goofy looking the puppets were, for example, the shot of an obvious real guy riding a motorcycle cutting to a shot of a puppet on a toy motorcycle

Scream 6 opening was foreshadowing how insanely stupid the movie would end up being. I know this misdirection is basically a trope in this franchise but the reality of how this "plan" is supposed to work in the story world is absolutely idiotic. Don't even get me started how a detective can plant the corpse of his own daughter in a crime scene without anyone realizing it's not her. Like no autopsy was ordered?? I know the NYPD is slacking but bro, how stupid do you think your audience is??
