We live around the corner from Pit Room and didn’t even know they have breakfast tacos until you posted on TikTok about it. Now we can’t get enough! Houston might not be a walkable city, but Montrose and its great museums, parks, and food options are pretty damn close to the best walkable neighborhood down here.

Solid list! Love truth so much. I’m happy to see soy Pinoy on there. Tiny champions, Nancy’s hustle, Mai’s, bludorn, Lucille’s, Crumbville, rado market for oxtail burger, tony thai for family style thai, Hugo’s, Phoenicia!!

lol glad you had a great first visit here. We have some of the best restaurants of literally every cuisine imaginable here. It’s honestly crazy how spoiled we are. If you ever comeback and have a few people with you to eat family style, Hai Cang seafood harbor or Confucius seafood restaurant located in Bellaire are some of the best Chinese food restaurants to eat with family or a group of friends. Very communal sharing experience with bomb flavors. We enjoy going there for special occasions

You should've tried the Shipley's glazed donuts. They are served fresh and warm, and melt in your mouth.

Next time you need to try Crawfish and Noodles and have Viet-Cajun Crawfish. Houston fusion food. They will change your world. (make sure it's during prime crawfish season March & April; earlier than that they may be small, later than that they're big, but their shells get hard, making them harder to peel)

Mostly great choices overall. Shipley's donuts are honestly below average. I would have recommended you try a local mom and pop donut place, or "the original Kolache Shoppe" for a much better quality of food. Uchi and Kata Robata are both great sushi options. Pappasito's is better than El Tiempo. With a huge Vietmnamese population in Houston, I would say that something representative needs to be on this list.

Papasitos being better than el tiempo is extremely biased. Both are good, depends on what you like. Vietnamese food, Huynh in east downtown is the only and best option to go to for mom style cooking. If you want an upscale Vietnamese place, you gotta try LeColonial. Indian food is either Aga's for casual and Kiran's for upscale. Thai food has got to be street food thai market in the heights. There's just too much good food!

Next time you have to try Candente off Richmond in the Montrose neighborhood! It’s my absolute favorite texmex place and I’ve had El tiempo, Lupes, Ninfa’s, Pappasitos etc etc, Candente beats them all!

Maybe it depends on the location but at my nearby Shipley's in San Antonio they have ice coffee! It's average, kinda very similar to Dunkins

Hugos would have been a great place to check out. It's fantastic real Mexican food by Hugo Ortega. I don't understand Shipleys.... El Tiempo is alright, overpriced tex mex, However their chicken fajitas and margaritas are great. Whoever thinks Papasitos just no, maybe the Original Ninfas on Navigation is where he should have gone. I'm sure I'm missing some places, everyone has their opinions lol.

Pico's for true Mexican food ( i.e., dishes from ALL OVER Mexico, not just texmex ). Best Mole ANYWHERE!!!!

I literally live next door to Pit Room and eat there a couple of times a month; it's too close to not go there all the time, plus it doesn't hurt that the air always smells like delicious smoked brisket. And because I eat there all the time, what I will say is that they are fairly inconsistent. Most of the time, it's really really good (a Texas Top 50 Spot for sure). But it seems that they have quality control issues as of late. I'm not sure what their process is for holding food in warmers, but I've had dry meat several times now to the point where it's unenjoyable. Truth is a bit more consistent, but they've certainly had their issues too.
