Thank you, I am starting to think about going back to doing printing again. This is helping in making that decision

Hi, Thank you very much for this informative video! I am just an enthusiast photographer from India and I print on a 4-ink ink tank Epson multifunction printer. I currently print glossy, matte and semi gloss paper usually on A4 mostly 270 gsm. I enjoy my printing very much. I usually store these prints in albums. I am now exploring the possibility of creating a photo book. I want to print the photos myself and give it to the press only for spiral binding. However, I am still not sure what size or thickness of the paper should be used. I am planning to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create the slides with images and text and then use the printer settings for additional left margin. Can you please advise? Thanks in advance!!

In the manual for the 300 canon says you should set the luminance in your editing room to 300 lux 5000K high CRI light bulbs. and your monitor to D50 and your screan brightness to between 100 & 120 CD for proofing. I have bought a light meter to set in front of my monitor to set room luminance as my lights (6 Leds at 65 watts..700 lumens ea. in recessed cans) are on a dimmer

FYI dimming can change color temp

I have been contemplating how to dress that. I bought a light meter to check the lux at my monitor to see exactly how bright my room actually is. I guess that will determine my next move. I did get my SW272U yesterday and it is magnificent...!!@@cadebrian

LOL, Tim... 100 Years in a box under your bed. Well that makes printing totally worth it. :-)

A serious problem that no one really seems to talk about concerning printing. As I wanted to do the correct thing thing for my potential buyers I was talked into a pigment ink printer. So what's the problem with that you ask? Well what you must realise is that pigment ink whilst good for archival reasons has a very dull color gamut unlike dye ink printers. I must say B&W prints do look great on Fine Art papers but color is truly a disappointment. Stuck with it now.

I bought a Epson ET 8550 and first used Platinum Baryta, and was really pleased. Then I got some Matt Baryta and was so disappointed disappointed with my colour photos. Guess I'll try black and white.

@@Night6436 Does the printer use pigment ink and were you warned that the color would be dull compared to a dye based printer?
