If you work in groundwork as site engineer a few more items needed. 1. a lump hummer 2. Insulation tape to set levels 3. Pins 4. Wooden pegs 5. Marker spray

Please Tell me one thing I'm student of Civil Engineering now and I need one thing only if I'm a site engineer so why I need to do survey and if I'm surveyor I can't do anything else than surveying tell me clearly duty is duty but I'm not sure what you call a engineer???
@SITENG Жыл бұрын
That's how it works in UK, I didn't use survey equipment much before I started here and this is typically the way for an engineer - setting out and than more senior roles. In UK they call 'engineer' people who can eg. mark the line and don't have any idea about construction so don't stress too much. Unlike in other countries engineer doesn't really mean much unfortunately, but this gives huge opportunity for people who want to do engineering without a degree etc

Sir I'm from India, I shall come next year in England at spouse visa. I passed graduation last year in civil engineering. Can I get job in construction company in England.
@SITENG2 жыл бұрын
You have to look for the job, watch my other vids where I am talking about these things. There are jobs, but you have to be active as it's not easy to get a job now without experience in uk

UK construction works in metric system - design and construction site. Imperial units are useful for some ppl too 😁

Hey Greg How is the value of Structural engineering in UK? I'm going to purse that in September
@SITENG2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Can't say really as I am mostly dealing with site, so don't want to misinform you. Definitely there is a need for Structural engineers too, but I don't know about the entry requirements nor the salary. Good luck and all the best 😁

@@SITENG Thanks for such a quick reply. Huge fan here. I think it would be beneficial if you'd start a series on issues such as concrete slab cracks and so on showing what happens when drawings are not followed and how this can be fixed.
@SITENG2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I will start the structures series where I want to cover failures as well - which in most cases will be caused by not following the drawings as you say. Should start within few weeks and thank you for your comment and advice!👍👍

Hi Greg great video. Recently I seen an engineer setting out houses with a gps. Are the now that accurate that they can be within tolerance? Also would the engineer using this have to convert the local coordinates into global ? Cheers
@SITENG2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Philip! I wouldn't set a house with GPS, but TBH I don't work much with it. Yeah if the information would be provided eg for London grid you would have to convert it to global. The equipment might have the options really, but I don't know it 😁
