Question: in the UK are Construction Site Engineers surveyors?
@SITENG Жыл бұрын
It's typically first step to do setting out on site, but it's not surveying only. For me it was a surprise too as I didn't know how to use surveying equipment first 😁 It's much better/easier to be an engineer and learn a bit about Total Station than be a surveyor and start to be a site engineer.
@wallyjr. Жыл бұрын
@SITENG thanks for the reply. In the US, a site engineer is totally different. Surveying is its own distinct field. You wouldn't typically see a site engineer doing that sort of work. More of a technical project manager focusing a specific project.
@SITENG Жыл бұрын
It depends on the project size really, as this is actually called a setting out engineer, but often site engineer is expected to do setting out duties. Site engineer typically deals with QA checks, material take-off/orders etc and tech stuff. On big jobs there are setting out engineers, site engineers, surveyors. Surveying is a distinct field too here
@wallyjr. Жыл бұрын
@SITENG ahhh I follow. That's interesting because in the US, a site engineer (also called project engineer) have certain duties (planning/logistics, estimating, admin, etc). Excluding utilizing surveying equipment (though they would need to be able to supervise surveying crews and read surveying drawings) it's the samething. Could you get a dual license for engineering and surveying because you have the experience doing the latter?

Not sure what license do you mean :)
