SisiYemmie, I can't tell you how much your vidoes have helped me. You're funny, witty and so reall. I'm currently in Culinary School, and last term I got the chance to do a Nigerian Menu, your recipe videos were so helpful (we all know how some Nigerian recipes are very much based on intuition and it can be hard to find fill prood recipes written down)! One of my international friends found it so funny that we call Catfish Pepper soup "Point and Kill" and he learnt it from watching your videos. Honestly, you are representing. You're so honest and decent, your trust in God shines through and you manage to share enough info without it being too much information. You're an inspiration o, keep on doing what you're doing! Even my 11 year old brother knows that if he wants to watch KZbin with me, its SisiYemmie all the way. My Mum is always like you and this your Sisi. God bless!

I think most of these superstitions were created to teach us lessons and also to prevent us from doing certain things when we're children. I'm from Ghana and for example there was this superstition they used to say "if you sing whilst bathing your mother will die" and obviously as a child you wouldn't want your mother to die and that would scare you. they basically used to say that because if you're singing while bathing the lather from the soap can go in your mouth, and because soap contains chemicals that aint good of you.

1. As a child, when your teeth broke, run round your building seven times and throw the teeth on the zinc, if not the teeth would not grow back. 2. The white bird they call "Leke leke", when its flying, sing to it "Leke Leke give me water finger" and white marks will appears on your fingers. 🤣

My parents are from the Caribbean and my mom always said itchy palms mean money is coming. I've observed and think it is true. Another one, if you bite your tongue/side of the inside of your mouth, someone is talking bad about you. Not sure if it's true but it always comes to my mind. I say it to friends when it happens to them. Lastly, a woman should never put her purse on the floor. Money will not stay in her pocketbook. I don't know if this is true but I stay away from putting my purse on any floor. I bought purse hooks to hang it on the side of tables or other items that I can hang it, lol.

In Ghana, it is said that ghost/spirits are going to the market when it’s raining and the sun is shining at the same time. Another one I remember is putting chicken poo on a bite. It is said that the person who bit you will have rotten teeth the next day!!

Many of these superstitions are common In the U.S. also. Not as much as in previous years but I have heard some of them. As a black woman, descendant of slaves, raised in NYC, I have heard of the itchy palms and money, broken mirror, the black cat, and its funny you mention the whistling. My mother, who grew up in the south, use to hate for me to whistle around the house. She would say "you know what happens to a hen that crows?? It DIES. Don't whistle" Some of the ones you mentioned was funny: the broom and impotence, eating in the dark, and the eyelash. The eyelash I would have tried as a kid though 😉😀 😁 Btw, what shade of lipstick are you wearing. Its a beautiful red

As a child if you eat fish eyes you get dumb in school! I think that was fabricated by parents who love eating fish heads and didnt want to share....lol. Told my kids the same superstition when they were little and went further to tell them they had to hop and spin 3 times to counter the reaction. Was soooo cute watching them do it while I tried to keep a straight face 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi Sisi, very nice video. I am from Cote d'Ivoire and we have most of the same superstitions you discussed in my culture as well except the one about the broom, eyelash and witch in the market. I personally think that if you truly believe in superstitions that is when you give it power to realize itself

After I realised that i had spent so much time, panic set in and then i remembered the eyelashes trick, i felt so happy that i would get home before my mum but it was short lived. My mom came home even earlier that day. The beating my mother gave me that day 😣😣, in fact i don't want to talk about it. All my body pepper me tire..mstcheww eyelashes, the false hope giver

Hello, Wonderful Lady.... A few that I grew up with: If you dream of fish, someone is pregnant. If you place your pocketbook on the floor, your money will decrease, if your eye is twitching someone will make you angry, if your ear is ringing, someone is talking about you, if your nose is itching, someone will visit your home, if you put a hat on your bed, you will have bad luck, if you run out of salt, you will have bad luck, if someone sweeps your feet while sweeping the floor, you will experience bad luck. If someone opens an umbrella in your home, they will have bad luck. Oh, I almost forgot this one, if a white bird lands on our window seal, news of death is coming. There're many more, I've merely provided a few. Love you sis, keep up the great work you are doing.

I was born in the Caribbean, so itching hand one is common. Two others I remember - when your ear is itching, someone is talking about you, in a gossipy way and if a broom passes across a single woman's feet as someone is sweeping she won't get married. I believe these things as much as I believe horoscopes, not at all.

I enjoyed this video so much. I can relate to some of what you said like when you hit your leg on something that something bad will happen...lol I find myself believing that. Growing up, I was told not to sweep and throw away the dirt at night because I will be throwing away my success. Just sweep and put leave the dirt in one corner and take care of it the next day...lol another one is if all of a sudden you hear your name being called and no one around you called you. That means the spirit in your in your village working extra hard to get you...lol someone near you have to call you to cancel that. I have heard my name and I have forced people to call me so that I can answer to cancel whatever my village people are doing...lol I was also told that pregnant people should not make fun of little people (dwarfs) they can curse you and your child will be like them. Choi! I can't deal with that one. I try not to believe in superstitions but it's hard. Instead I use prayers to cover myself because nothing pass God, abi?

When I was pregnant my sister-in-law told me that if I am craving something and I don’t get it, be careful not to scratch any part of my body or the baby will get a mark in the same place. Well, i was craving dragon fruit the whole time and it was not always available. I’m not superstitious so I didn’t even care if I scratched anywhere. My husband was keeping track and warning me every time. Fast forward, I had twins and one came out with brown and greenish birth marks in every place I scratched! They eventually faded, but I couldn’t believe it! He’s from Jamaica 🇯🇲

The itchy palm is also a superstition in Cameroon. Another one which shows money coming is a bee 🐝 following you. We also believe that if you sweep the floor in the night then you will sweep your luck out. If you also throw the peelings of beans or groundnuts you want to plant on the road and many people walk on it, then the crops will do well. The list is long and I can identify with some of the ones you mentioned. Some of these superstitions are really funny.

Hahaha.. The one of hitting your foot on a stone. One time in secondary school, boarding house I was going for socials late at night and was alone as my friends left before me, I hit my left foot on a stone just as I stepped out of the hostel gate, I got so scared and so many thoughts came to my head. Few minutes later I was in bed, no more socials that night I could't risk it. The one about looking down in the market, heard they would be walking on their heads and will knock the person and the prison will go mad.. hahaha, till date I don't look down in the market oo. Never taking the risk. And there was this one when a tooth falls off when we are little, you have to put it on a roof, if not a lizard could find it and it wouldn't grow back... and do you mean to tell me when the sun is shining and rain falling at the same time, a lion or elephant isn't giving birth?? Embarrassingly, I still believe that till date.

When its raining and sun is shining in Jamaica we say "the devil and his wife are fighting". If a green lizard jumps on you then you will become pregnant. If you wash your eyes with rice water you will see ghosts. Pregnant women should not go to the beach because they make the seas rough. Dont bend to pick up coins because your children will become beggars. Yes if your hand middle scratch you that means money - Konshens , a dancehall artiste, also has a very popular song about that "mi hand miggle a scratch me". So many more!

I am from haiti and we have some of the same ones, the itchy palm! ,hitting the foot!, the owl ! Whistling at night !😯😯😯😯(MIND BLOWN). AS for the broom what's different is they say you'll get as skinny as the broom so to prevent that you have to bite it 3 times😂😂 If u mop a man's foot by accident he's going to be impotent ....if it's raining while the sun is shining guess what.???? The devil is beating his wife 🤣🤣.. If u point at a rainbow and insert your finger into a gallon i'll get stuck. If u bite your tongue somebody is talking bad about you....You look dashing😍 very nice Video Sisi Yemie.

Since I was a little girl in the Bahamas, I was told about the itchy palm,it worked for me,but lately,no itchy palm, and I still get the money.😄😁😂😂😂 I grew up hearing of the black cat,but never experienced it. *Don't walk under a ladder,it will give bad luck unless you walk back under backwards. Not true * If salt spill, throw some over your shoulder to avoid quarrel and bad luck, not true! There are so many that I've grown up hearing, but as a child of God,the blood of Jesus protects me from such nonsense.

Try to capture the wall gecko in a container and set it free outside. You look amazing by the way.

Iya Tito toh fineeeee LOL. These were funny, but even as logical as I am, I still am so superstitious, smh. I recently heard about the looking between your legs at the market and the guy who told us this info said that even if you try it, someone will stop you.
