If US uses Dalai Lama for their political agenda then thats their bad.I am athiest and basically dalai lama for me is the ideal exemplification of what human being should be.A gentle spirit who speaks after thinking and does not invoke god in his talks as contemporory religious leaders.

So you are pro-life (antiabortion)? Well, he does. They also believe having sex during the day is shameful amongst ,many, many other bizarre things you might not expect.
@venomkiler1
@venomkiler1 9 жыл бұрын
The Joker why would you be anti-life? why would you have sex and then get an abortion. sure i mean if you get raped, but if you are having consensual sex and decide to get an abortion, you truly are a murderer. if you cant handle the responsibility of having a child, you are not mature enough to have consensual intercourse.
@Chiefstep

The Joker Be careful saying things like that. The Buddha very strongly suggested that his followers should only ever take his teachings as ideas to test for ourselves, not as concrete rules. His Holiness is a very compassionate, understanding man. He fully promotes individuals' freedoms in life. He does not represent all of the Buddha's teachings to the letter, but the spirit of it in this modern time. He follows the teachings, but doesn't close his eyes to the world around him.

The Joker What you say may be/have been true of some Buddhist sects at particular points in time, but Buddhism is not a monolithic set of beliefs, it is a theory of knowledge in which there are many, many schools. The Dalai Lama's sect is the Gelugpa. The Gelugpa believe that truth/morality/values are subjective. Nothing has independent value or existence. Everything exists in relation to everything else. Morality, sex, values are all subject to the society they are created in. At the theological level, Gelugpa is much more a philosophy than a religion in the Abrahamic sense.

@@drivencocoon235 history always has sides. Tibet was De Jure a part of the Nationalist republic of China, and earlier of Qing. In the 40s, it was de facto autonomous with its own leader because China was in shambles after ww2 and civil war. As a matter of fact, I can tell you modern Tibet was never recognized as a country at any point of time. It was a part of China that it did not control, just like the dozens of warlords that plagued the land before ccp swept them up.

Assuming that belief of reincarnation is incorrect with no amount of evidence is a religion in itself. Believing in something you have not experienced yourself. Buddhism is a philosophy because they do not believe these things. A wise mind KNOWS these things. Obviously faith is important in everyone's life however we can't assume something is based upon it because it's not something you are willing to look into and/or accept.

Very educative. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to you.

3:00 Dalai Lama's happiness is indeed very vocal. This reminds me of the sufferrings many ex-Tibetan 'Buddhism' followers had to endure from these corrput and abusive organizations, some in silence, fortunately many others are becoming more vocal too. Scholars in the west are questioning exactly how buddhist the Tibetan schools are, and some have concluded that the Tibetan schools are very different from Buddhism and should be called Lamaism instead.

***** Buddhism is officially non-theistic religion, like Scientology, New Age, etc.. Buddhism, Scientology, new age etc. do not believe in God. buddha lived? Buhovana was the goddess mama maya. Māyā and King Suddhodhana did not have children for twenty years into their marriage. According to legend, one full moon night, sleeping in the palace, the queen had a vivid dream. She felt herself being carried away by four devas (spirits) to Lake Anotatta in the Himalayas. After bathing her in the lake, the devas clothed her in heavenly cloths, anointed her with perfumes, and bedecked her with divine flowers. Soon after a white elephant, holding a white lotus flower in its trunk, appeared and went round her three times, entering her womb through her right side. Finally the elephant disappeared and the queen awoke, knowing she had been delivered an important message, as the elephant is a symbol of greatness in India.[5] According to Buddhist tradition, the Buddha-to-be was residing as a bodhisattva in the Tuṣita heaven, and decided to take the shape of a white elephant to be reborn on Earth for the last time. Māyā gave birth to Siddharta c. 563 BCE. The pregnancy lasted ten lunar months. Following custom, the Queen returned to her own home for the birth. On the way, she stepped down from her palanquin to have a walk under the Sal tree (Shorea robusta), often confused with the Ashoka tree (Saraca asoca), in the beautiful flower garden of Lumbini Park, Lumbini Zone, Nepal. Maya Devi was delighted by the park and gave birth standing while holding onto a sal branch. Legend has it that Prince Siddhārtha emerged from her right side. It was the eighth day of April. Some accounts say she gave him his first bath in the Puskarini pond in Lumbini Zone. But legend has it that devas caused it to rain to wash the newborn babe. He was later named Siddhārtha, "He who has accomplished his goals" or "The accomplished goal". Scholars generally agree that most Buddhist literature holds that Maya died seven days after the birth of Buddha, and was then reborn in the Tavatimsa Heaven, where the Buddha later preached the Abhidharma to her. Her sister Prajāpatī (Pāli: Pajāpatī or Mahāpajāpatī Gotamī) became the child's foster mother.[1] After Siddhartha had attained Enlightenment and become the Buddha, he visited his mother in heaven for three months to pay respects and to teach the Dharma.

Chinese land reforms that takes the land from aristocratic and the lama class and redistributed to the tibetan peasant class? self defense from Chinese abolishing slavery and serfdom? yea there is a big difference, from the common narrative in the west. they rebelled because their right to enslave were infringed upon by the Chinese government's reforms.

@benwilson1710 8 жыл бұрын
obsidian, ugh. so painfully incomplete and one sided. reforms were needed, no doubt. the rest... if you think Mao marched in Tibet as a freedom fighter and liberator...I feel so bad for your sense of reasoning. You would have SO much to explain from 1959 onward. You need to have discussions with prominent Tibetans from that period to understand the picture better. You have accused me of being part of a common narrative with no knowledge of my position other than an acute comment to counter your statements. But I will say that your points, though well bulleted, are standard CCP party line, very standard, and nothing any of us haven't heard before. I'll cede serfdom, I'll even through you massive corruption and medieval punishments (something you didn't mention, but i'll give you), but that is to ASSUME that no reforms were possible or arriving with their own manifest. The tone is steeped in propoganda, I'm sorry. I wish I could organize my thoughts more thoroughly at this time, perhaps later.

Once again, truth lies within. I am fortunate that I did not start my spiritual journey in this life time until having realisation of my true nature. Discernment is an important part of spiritual development. Of course, if you feel people like Dalai Lama gives you inspiration, then follow the inspiration until you develop more discernment to recognise the inspiration within. For me, exposing the lies of Dalai Lama helps me to see the big picture of truth, peace and justice.

it is so none sense that Dalai Lama is demanding independence for Tibetans since the land itself belongs to mainland china. There is no way just because you have been lived there, and you are different race and religion, you can ask for independence. If it is right thing, there the kurdish can also demand independence from Turkish land too. How none sense! Of course, this is by no mean we are going to ignore the chinese government's oppression toward Tibetans. It definitely should be condemned!

Ian Mann tibet was already a part of Chinese empire during QIng dynasty in 1720, when emperor Kangxi formally incorporated into the imperial rule. and it has been that way ever since. in 1950 the communists took tibet from the Nationalist Chinese as a result of the CHINESE CIVIL WAR. thus by the rule of succession of the state. tibet is legally a part of China.

Ian Mann nearly 100% of tibetans speak tibetan, 1 in 30 tibetans are monks, go to tibet the tibetan culture is very well preserved. dont give in to the lies western media puts out. some temple were damaged during the culture revolution during the 1960s BUT at the same time all sorts of traditional Chinese temples relics were destroyed, it was all over China NOT just in tibet and it was certainly not targeted towards the tibetans.
@obsidianstatue

Ian Mann the real problem here is that you have never been to tibet and is being fed second hand information interpreted by others who have an agenda. my father's former job was a photo journalist who have traveled extensively in tibet. and I have traveled to tibet since I was a teen. been there 3 times, being a Chinese citizen also gives me unrestricted access to all of tibet, and from what I saw, and from the photographs my father took it paints a vastly different picture from what is shown in the west. my father also traveled into tibet the old school way taking the mountainous road from Sichuan, that was years before the Tibet Qinghai railway opened. you seem to blame infiltration of any outside elements as "cultural genocide" so when a KFC opens in CHina is it an cultural genocide against the Han Chinese culture? or is it the fact that Chinese today wear western cloth is another cultural genocide?? I also question the authenticity of many so called "undercover" reporting who goes into tibet with an preset agenda.

If he is truly open to possibilities for everything like he suggests he is, then he should admit certain things in this universe can definitely be true. Even science indeed searches for the universal truth...so is every human being. Mr. Lama is no exception.

As a buddhist, I am amazed how people in the west could regard Dalai, a state-sponsored terrorist as a saint. Then again, I was just like that had I not been abused by the western democratic system myself. It was painful, yet it allowed me to see the lies of western democray. My life is my spiritual practice. Seeing those abused me sufferring fitting consequences, I am assured that truth and justice never ceased to prevail and never will. Know thyself and have power :)

We are all on this planet to learn about ourselves. Dalai Lama is great for teaching people about 'Blind Faith'. I have seen many kind-hearted people in the west to be fed with his lies, and sufferred the abuses and exploitations of his corrupt religious order which has been supported by the western political interests for their for their greedy and power-thirsty motives . Look within, and find the truth and power inside of you self.

I think Dalai tries to stay out of a politics but the issue is he truly cares for Tibet and his people there. So to help them he must become involved in politics. It is a pity though but I hope he stay pure through it all. I respect him immensely for being able to be involved politics yet still remain neutral, wise and widely respected in the world. Wish all people could be as kind and heartfelt as he is

For those accuse China of "extermination of the Tibetan people, culture and language", the truth in Tibet is: - students study Mandarin Chinese, Tibetan and English; - Tibetan language is widely preserved and used, where shop signs in Tibetan are common, and the signs of local government agencies are in both Chinese and Tibetan; - The PRC provides Tibetan language TV station; - the PRC support the Tibetan Buddhism, even in Dalai supporter's upload, you can see people are free to practice.

@HybOj You have asked me a very good question. For me Buddhism is about finding the true buddha nature within yourself. It is about realising the true source of happiness and wisdom inside of yourself. Tibetan Buddhism have a heavy emphasis on guru devotion which often becomes the basis of abuses and corruptions within their system.
