This is crazy. I'm getting ready to break out the tent for a fall/winter run (it's just too hot in the summer) and I was thinking about side lighting LAST NIGHT. Weird. Now I'm sold

The goal of safe and effective side lighting in grow tents presents its own set of challenges. Not only do you need space between the sides of your plants and your side lights, but you need adequate ventilation and clearance at the back of your LED light bars (they can heat up a lot during operation) - I see some “clip on” low energy light bar solutions for grow tents but I am not convinced that their power is sufficient to drive significant morphological change. They look pretty though ;)

Everest, thank you for all your work. Please change this thumbnail to be more in the style of your previous thumbnails from the past. I think that will help spread this video more. 👍 Also, you're doing an interview with me in my next video... surprise.

I really appreciate your feedback and kind words. The side lighting really helps to raise temperatures in my grow room over the cooler months. Thanks again for the encouraging words.

Well, many chilies have been harvested and eaten! Many have been frozen too! It got a bit warm in my grow room and vertical stretch and plant stability became problematic. I think chillies are better as a winter indoor crop in my part of the world. I’m really not planning any “grow diary” style videos that’s already so well-represented here on YT, but I will keep the topic-focused videos coming, that’s for sure :)

Side lighting works but it needs to be sufficiently close and powerful. A token 48W propagation strip turned 90 degrees ain’t going to cut it. I’ll cover these details in the follow-up.

Just pulled the trigger and am going to try a led light. Was on sale for 599 with cord ( photobio mx w/iLoc). Maybe overkill just trying to keep a meyers lemon tree going over winter, and maybe add a lady finger banana tree. My old light is a 1998-ish 150-watt in Ballest hps. Love your channel, and you were the deciding factor for me to try led light over CMH or HPS.
@Just4Growers9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. CMH produces a really great quality light with decent angular intensity too, but everything changed when full spectrum LED came on the scene around 2018. Hope everything goes great for you.

@Just4Growers thank you, my set up is nowhere as good as yours. As I go along I'll add more, for right now I got a room sealed off as much as possible and a exhaust to try and create a negative pressure space. I can't wait to see your side lighting review . Once again, you're the green thumb man with the knowledge

The more I learn, the more I know how much I don’t know! Amazing LEDs on the market and at decent prices too - but I haven’t sold my CMH and DE-HPS just yet.

I have the option of dimming the top lighting to provide some ‘energy bandwidth’ for the side lights.
@surronzak81548 ай бұрын
I don't think so, it's the opposit imo
@Just4Growers25 күн бұрын
Side lighting complements multi-array LED top lighting and makes the plants look more ‘old-school” somehow…. can’t put my finger on it …. 😉
