Your wife and son are getting a "consistent version" of you. THAT ladies and gentlemen, is called "sobriety"! Physical sobriety, followed by emotional sobriety. I was a hopeless, chronic alcoholic who stood at the turning point in May of 1994. Three things happened...I went to meetings, (still do) cleared away the wreckage of my past, and tried to carry the message of hope to others. I now have more than 27 years of "reasons" to stay sober. It has been the greatest adventure of my life! All the best to you Simon, and family! Mark

I'm almost 3 months in. Blood pressure went from 160+/90 to a pretty consistent 110 or less/67....heart rate from 120 resting to around 70 or less....cut my BP medicine slowly and is pretty much off it now....I love it!

My name is Jim. I’ve been sober for 16 days now I was about ready to lose my wife to start sleeping upstairs. Losing all my grandkids no contact with them but I know I need help. I can’t do this on my own so I’ve been listening to your KZbin on podcasts and it’s out and I am going to AA meetings when my wife is not very ill.

Hang in there Jim, hope it’s going well for you!

@@jonnylons1 it only took you 10 months to reply. It’s been horrible. I’ve had no help now I’m back drinking again like I said, and horrible.

Sorry to hear that Jim, I just discovered the video today and I’m going through something similar. Try your best to make a plan and make a start at giving up. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

@@JimHurd-z6sthe road to sobriety is a bumpy one. I’ve never tried AA but the book by Allen Carr, Easy Way to Control alcohol saved my life. I got the audio book. Listen to it, no skipping, follow it and you will not fail.

Thank you so much for this honest story, stories like this motivate me to walk away from toxic substances for good. I just turned 32 and I really thought it was 31, a friend had to remind me. My God I lost a whole year to depression, alcohol and smoking. I want to change. Thank you again for your honesty.

This channel and Simon made me realise what I already knew but pushed me forward to quit,it’s only been a month but my anxiety has gone and that is a gift in itself, knowing the choices I have I choose to stop putting this poison in my body and finally getting my life, personality and zest for life back. Keep up the good work

Nailed it. Everything you’ve said in this video rings true to me. 5 months in and happier than ever, more consistent for my children, etc, etc. Not turning back to the jerk I was. Thank you for making this video.

Especially the part where even when you’re not drinking, you’re wondering about how you’re going to get your next drink. How much you’re going to drink… Should I drink half the bottle of vodka or can I have the whole thing? Do I have plans the day after? When can I start drinking after those plans. Everything in this video is SPOT ON.

I am SO thankful to have found your page. You are talking me through a very craving filled 7th day alcohol free… From one bottle of vodka daily. I was feeling so great everyday but today was a struggle! I couldn’t have gotten through without your videos. I am feeling so much better. Thank you!

Drinking ruins your life for sure. I drank for 50 years and finally quit 5 years ago. I’m 70 now and glad I did quit I really couldn’t handle the hangovers after a night of drinking. I was a binge drinker and didn’t drink everyday but on the weekends or vacations I always drank heavy. I wish o had quit when I was 25 , quit now if you want a great life.

I had to take a leave of absence from work to focus on recovery. Best thing I could do for my self . Alcoholics anonymous works but it takes effort and it's a dailey reprieve . But its 100 percent the effort. I'm a alcoholic and I've come to realize I cannot do any drugs or alcohol

Left out another giant reason why to quit. If quit alcohol for good it’s impossible to get a DWI! I don’t know about the U.K., but a DWI in USA most states it’s forever on your record. After a night in jail you lose your license for 6 months and can cause job loss if boss finds out. Then you’re out $10,000 from lawyer fees because without a lawyer a DWI can cost you $15,000. Then factor job loss that can cost thousands ($) more. Ohhhh and your driver insurance rates triple! There is nothing good about alcohol!
