Hello, beautiful people! This is all in good fun. Trends are fleeting, but the importance of how your home makes you feel is ever present. This is based off of what I have noticed over time, but nothing is true for everyone and it’s okay to have different opinions 😊. Make your home reflect you! Thanks for watching 💕.

Thank you, beautiful lady. Having a different opinion does not mean a negative judgement of YOUR efforts in making this video, or the people who find benefit in it. It only means there are people who are comfortable and pleased with the home they have created for themselves (such as myself). Sure enjoy your spirit, and pray for much success to you!

I really enjoyed this video and do want to hear your tips. I think it would be incredible if you did more voice overs and showed more examples as you were speaking. It would keep attention but also help us learn what is good scale and what is not. There wasn't a single pic of an appropriate rug size for example. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to share this info!

Yes!!! And in my city, we have a school for the developmentally delayed, and they have some really beautiful artwork to purchase too. Some of it is multimedia, not just paintings or drawings. The artwork doesn't cost a fortune, it will be totally unlike what anyone else has, and it also gives a huge self-esteem boost to individuals who could use that positive feedback!

As a professional in the Drape and window covering field, I will say you do not always want your drape to touch the floor. That's fine for a bedroom or little used area, but in your living space we go for 1/2" off the floor. Otherwise the bottom of the hem picks up dirt, dust and is difficult to clean under.

I love oil paintings, landscapes. My home is traditional, we’re seniors. I had an oil painting reproduction made about 15 years ago 24 x 36 and put it in a gorgeous gilt frame. It’s over the fireplace. It’s my pride and joy, the focal point of the room. I’d rather have one good piece of framed art than several inexpensive pieces. I designed the room around that painting. Older folks usually have acquired some expensive furniture pieces, over the years, that can’t be discarded or we just like too much. Your advice is excellent for young people just starting to find their comfort zone.

By breaking the leather sets and putting one or two pieces in each room, you get a cohesive home style where each piece stands and can act as an accent. On the contrary, by placing all together in the living room, ir looks crowded and cheap, and so does the rest of the house. An exception might be white natural leather sofas that can share the room with a second similar piece or a twin. This was your best piece of advice.

I agree that matching sets are a no-no, but having different pieces that are different styles and colours - but still all leather - totally works. I've seen it done and I'm planning to do it myself when I can afford the leather chair I want (I already have the sofa). I hate matching sets of anything, no matter where they're placed (bedroom, kitchen, living room), but design can still include all leather if done intentionally with complementary pieces (and also with other fabrics thrown in for pillows, throws, etc.). Just my two cents.

Soceity6 is great! Etsy is also great for affordable original art. I was even in touch with one artist about having one of her photographs put on canvas. She offered to send me the image in the size/resolution I needed so I could have it printed/framed on canvas as she was unable to do it for me. For those of us who have too short of curtains/draperies, rather than going out to buy new to replace them, think about these tricks of the trade to save yourself some money: (1) Check the width of current hem. There may be enough material to make the curtains/drapes long enough to "kiss" the floor by just letting down the hem and adding either a very skinny hem (hemming tape is my preference) along the bottom of the curtain, or adding plain material to the bottom of the curtain with hemming tape and using that to add "bulk" to the bottom of your new hem. The material will be hidden on the reverse side of the curtain and won't be seen, but I would stick with a lighter neutral color like white or beige. (2) If the panel length is still too short even after you let the hem down as suggested in (1), think about adding a complementary or contrasting color panel at the bottom of your curtain/drape to add the necessary length to "kiss" the floor. Experiment with how deep you would want the band to be and whether you would go with a solid color band from one of the colors picked out of a patterned curtain or, if your panel is one solid color, contrasting it with a patterned but coordinated color additional panel for the hem line. As for the rest, I honestly wouldn't know if you bought something at Ikea or Home Goods or Society Six or wherever and wouldn't care anyway. What I find offensive is trying to PRETEND you're something you not. We're not all decorators, we're not all uber-rich fat cats, we all don't have husbands who make a million or more a year so you can teeter around in 5 inch stilettos all day and get cosmetic surgery every 6 months. And who gives a flying eff anyway how much you paid for your possessions or where you got them from? If you hang around with people who would walk into your house and say oh I see you bought that REALLY CHEAP BED FROM IKEA I'd say EFF OFF - politely, of course - and drop that person from my "friend" list because that person isn't a friend, she or he is just a bitch. Buy what you like and everybody else can go blow.

I love this girl. Thank you, for talking about the plastic furniture. I hate that crap. I have one, in my bathroom, because my sink is broken, right now, I am going to fix it this spring, and then the plastic is going in the trash...or under my craft table...covered up.

Here’s the best tip I ever followed. Buy what brings you joy, even if it means high water curtains. 🤟🏼 Beats spending money you don’t have to impress people you don’t like.

I agree. I buy what makes me feel good. I love bright colors. I buy what I can afford. When I visit family and friends,I'm not there critiquing their home. People buy what they can afford.

I’m so so glad I didn’t buy any mirrored furniture when it was all the rage! Despite loving it, I just knew I would be so annoyed by the upkeep of it since it’s not forgiving when it comes to dust. Now that trend has passed and it’s gone! Had I bought it, I would’ve regretted it now!

Mirrored furniture has been around since 1920 (and probably earlier) so it's really not a trend.

I love my two pieces and they’re timeless. They’re perfect for expanding space and are a clear pallet for any design. If you have a mirrored bedroom suite, simply spread the pieces out throughout the house so the overall effect is subtle.

KB...your video was hysterical. What a joy to see, that have no cheap thing going on in my house. I am a home organizer and stager. Girl, I have seen everything. I have encouraged my clients to hang their shower curtain at the ceiling. It is gorgeous. Instant glam but they have to have grommets and the length has to be 108'. So pretty!!

Girl, my rugs are too small, and I've got cords and clutter all around. I'm in the process of decluttering so there's just PILES everywhere waiting to be tossed, donated, or sold. We never replaced our rugs from our first home...where they did fit, and we are moving again in a couple of years. By then the kids will be a bit older, and a bit less messy too. For now, I'm just rolling with it. Loving all your advice for when I'm ready to pull my final look together. Thanks for all of your tips.

Great home decor tips. I made some major style mistakes years ago when I purchased too many "faux" flowers and plants and placed them all over the house. They're gone now (donated to Goodwill), but that was one of the worst decorating mistakes I ever made. Looks extremely cheap - and it was. They were used as cheap fillers because I had a large home to fill.

The information is really good, but it's framed in the light of impressing and even fooling everyone else, rather than creating a space that expresses your personal style and makes you feel your best... Taking this info with a grain of salt
@KivaBrent

It definitely is framed in that light! Your home should represent you and your family. However, whether anyone agrees with it or not, people care about trends in makeup, fashion, interior design, etc!

I lived in an apartment my son and girlfriend are decorating my place. I gave them a homework, I mentioned my personality and favorite colors. I'm claustrophobic, hate crowded spaces, too much stuff in walls, love plants, and mainly soft clean look. They are doing a good job so far, I spend my time making essential oils and juices.
