Hello, beautiful people! This is all in good fun. Trends are fleeting, but the importance of how your home makes you feel is ever present. This is based off of what I have noticed over time, but nothing is true for everyone and it’s okay to have different opinions 😊. Make your home reflect you! Thanks for watching 💕.

Thank you, beautiful lady. Having a different opinion does not mean a negative judgement of YOUR efforts in making this video, or the people who find benefit in it. It only means there are people who are comfortable and pleased with the home they have created for themselves (such as myself). Sure enjoy your spirit, and pray for much success to you!

As a professional in the Drape and window covering field, I will say you do not always want your drape to touch the floor. That's fine for a bedroom or little used area, but in your living space we go for 1/2" off the floor. Otherwise the bottom of the hem picks up dirt, dust and is difficult to clean under.

It’s over the fireplace. It’s my pride and joy, the focal point of the room. I’d rather have one good piece of framed art than several inexpensive pieces. I designed the room around that painting. Always keep in mind tho, design is self-expression so don't overthink it. I dont have any other mirrored furniture so I dont think it looks overly done. By breaking the leather sets and putting one or two pieces in each room, you get a cohesive home style where each piece stands and can act as an accent. On the contrary, by placing all together in the living room, ir looks crowded and cheap, and so does the rest of the house. An exception might be white natural leather sofas that can share the room with a second similar piece or a twin. This was your best piece of advice.

What about a dark brown leather sofa with black leather chairs? See above comment ⬆️
@LoomofDreams Жыл бұрын
I agree that matching sets are a no-no, but having different pieces that are different styles and colours - but still all leather - totally works. I've seen it done and I'm planning to do it myself when I can afford the leather chair I want (I already have the sofa). I hate matching sets of anything, no matter where they're placed (bedroom, kitchen, living room), but design can still include all leather if done intentionally with complementary pieces (and also with other fabrics thrown in for pillows, throws, etc.). Just my two cents.

Last year I did a budget DIY reno on my bathroom and designed the entire room around a shower curtain I bought on Society6! I love it so much, and every time I walk into that bathroom - even though there are still some elements that need to be dealt with when I have more money to spend - I just feel happy when I see it. Soceity6 is great! Etsy is also great for affordable original art. I was even in touch with one artist about having one of her photographs put on canvas. She offered to send me the image in the size/resolution I needed so I could have it printed/framed on canvas as she was unable to do it for me. Turned out beautifully and it hangs in that same bathroom!

Guess I’m lucky. I’ve always had amazing artists in the family. I have one print in my house only because my deceased husband gave it to me as a gift. Another point, while I don’t always think your art has to “go” with your room, a good strategy for finding your colors can be an inspiring painting.

I had never heard of Sarah Brooks so I looked her up. I do not like any of her stuff. I'm sure there are a ton of people who do. But one of the pictures I saw looked like a 2 year old drew a spiral like circle with a big black magic marker, it was awful! I can dig abstract art sometimes but I'm not a fan of her work. For those of us who have too short of curtains/draperies, rather than going out to buy new to replace them, think about these tricks of the trade to save yourself some money: (1) Check the width of current hem. There may be enough material to make the curtains/drapes long enough to "kiss" the floor by just letting down the hem and adding either a very skinny hem (hemming tape is my preference) along the bottom of the curtain, or adding plain material to the bottom of the curtain with hemming tape and using that to add "bulk" to the bottom of your new hem. The material will be hidden on the reverse side of the curtain and won't be seen, but I would stick with a lighter neutral color like white or beige. (2) If the panel length is still too short even after you let the hem down as suggested in (1), think about adding a complementary or contrasting color panel at the bottom of your curtain/drape to add the necessary length to "kiss" the floor. Experiment with how deep you would want the band to be and whether you would go with a solid color band from one of the colors picked out of a patterned curtain or, if your panel is one solid color, contrasting it with a patterned but coordinated color additional panel for the hem line. As for the rest, I honestly wouldn't know if you bought something at Ikea or Home Goods or Society Six or wherever and wouldn't care anyway. What I find offensive is trying to PRETEND you're something you not. We're not all decorators, we're not all uber-rich fat cats, we all don't have husbands who make a million or more a year so you can teeter around in 5 inch stilettos all day and get cosmetic surgery every 6 months. And who gives a flying eff anyway how much you paid for your possessions or where you got them from? If you hang around with people who would walk into your house and say oh I see you bought that REALLY CHEAP BED FROM IKEA I'd say EFF OFF - politely, of course - and drop that person from my "friend" list because that person isn't a friend, she or he is just a bitch. Buy what you like and everybody else can go blow.
