Here are the 10 reasons, each with my personal notes: 1. Distraction - Create 'sacred hours' where you can work undisturbed - Choose moments when you are least distracted 2. Excessive editing - Excessive editing is overrated - In the beginning, editing is useless because you don't yet know what you're editing for - Therefore, stop editing - Once you have received feedback from readers, you can edit in the following ways: - Structural: are you using the correct format? - Organizational: are you presenting the ideas in the right order? - Contextual: does the reader need more or less context to understand the text well? 3. Perfectionism - You are not a perfectionist, your ego is just afraid of feedback (Dickie Bush) - You protect yourself from receiving negative feedback - Or you are simply not as good a writer as you think. But that does not apply to me, because I know I am not good. 🙂 - The only solution to perfectionism is to take action - Write and publish every day, regardless of the quality you think it has. 4. Procrastination - You may think the future will be easier, but that is not true. - You just need to get started, whether or not you have time for it. 5. Imposter syndrome - This only occurs in people who pretend to be something they are not. - Solve this by only writing about topics you truly know about, or write with borrowed authority. - Perform the '2-year test' to discover what you really know. Write about that. 6. Lack of confidence - You can only gain confidence in something when you do it more often. So to gain confidence in writing, you just have to write. That is the only thing you can do. 7. Inconsistency - This is caused by all the other reasons listed in this list. 8. Not knowing what to write about - The problem is not that you have nothing to write about, but that you think it is not valuable to write. - For many, the knowledge they have is so obvious that they forget how many people in the world do not know it. 9. Not knowing where to write - The best places at this moment are: Twitter, LinkedIn, Medium, and Quora. - These are social media platforms that focus on text. - The number of followers is becoming less important, as the algorithm suggests your content to people who follow similar content. 10. No time to write - You don't find time, you make time. - It's all about setting priorities.

This is the best video on digital writing hands down. It cuts to the chase, delivers tough love, and provides real and practical solutions to the real problems and excuses anyone has for not hitting publish. When I heard you share that quote from Dickie about perfectionism, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Great vid. My biggest takeaway from this video is that having your sacred hours is the best productive hack you could ever have, 1 focused hour is 10x better than 8 hours multi-tasking. That's why I love to wake up at 5:30AM when everyone is sleeping, only me and my work, no disruption whatsoever

My biggest takeaway is that the antidote to all 10 problems is taking imperfect action. And put your phone on DND. Solves 80% of all the problems. I want to be a premium ghostwriter so that I can learn while I earn.
