Chuck I cannot tell you how thankful and appreciative I am that you covered this. I have asked Erika Larkin, Andrew Rice, Adam Bazalgette and others to explain the role of the right knee in the downswing and at impact. Two said it's just part of the "squat move", one said it was an optical illusion of hip rotation...What? I see some tour pros literally coming up on their toes and even launching off the ground by using that right knee flexed inward and downward and then exploding upward. They appear to be using it in conjunction with the post-up to create power. I noticed it when I was trying to research "how to get the hands lower coming into impact (i.e. near the back of the trail knee/thigh). I tried my own version of it on the driving range this weekend and hit a drive 30 yards longer than I ever had so I know that there is something to this. Nearly every pro golfer at impact has their right knee flexed inward/downward to some extent yet it is rarely talked about. Thank you so much for confirming that what I was seeing was not imaginary or an illusion. Would you consider addressing how to get the hands very low coming into impact or perhaps give me a link if you've covered it already. Thanks so much and keep up the awesome work that you do!

Chuck, this little revelation with the right knee seems to tie in nicely with the second step in the DEAD drill (i.e. squat to square). I know when I finally learned to do the S2S correctly, I realized after watching this video that my right knee was doing exactly that. S2S was difficult to figure out and do at first but it led to a lot of good things, especially getting to step 3 correctly. I agree that Step 1 in the DEAD drill is also important to get you set up for Step 2. But I think the S2S actually forces the right knee move. Trying to focus on getting the knee alone to move might not be needed if S2S is done right. JMHO. Btw, love your videos and the DEAD drill. So simple yet so amazingly powerful and effective! It has really transformed my golf swing. You’re the best!!! 😁👍

Are you supposed to feel like your trail hip is staying back at the start the downswing instead of ,moving forward? If I feel my trail hip staying back I seem to get a better tilt to drove the club with my lower body thru transition to the finish.

Great point! Been working on reflexing right knee in transition and it gets you more open. It is so hard to do, because you got to fight against the urge of pulling with the arms.

Great segment Chuck! With regard to the left or right side domination that you mention in the video, witch method produces the most POWER?
@Rotaryswing4 жыл бұрын

I need to understand what causes the right knee forward move. As I can't actually see any benefit from focussing on the right knee. Is this right knee move a result of a good left leg post up?
@Rotaryswing4 жыл бұрын
Its a by product of moving the hips correctly in the DEAD drill rotaryswing.com/golf-instruction-videos/full-swing-advanced/downswing/squat-to-square

Throw the ball drill helps moves the right knee correct ?. Problem I've always had is focusing on moving the right knee forward makes the shoulders spin.
