For 99% of his career, Dusty Rhodes was an NWA guy and even when he was in WWF/E in very brief stints, he was still considered an NWA lifer. He was the face of Vince's competition in the 1980s. Given that WWE doesn't always do what's right for business, the fact that they would ensure The American Dream didn't win the title there is well within WWE's character. If they didn't make you a star, you were getting nowhere in WWE. Just ask Steve Borden. They must have paid Sting a lot of money to get him to humiliate himself like that. And then they injure him so he's stupid to wrestle again. There's a reason the last 2 decades of wrestling have been total garbage - nobody wants to put over guys who came from other organizations. And their ability to make new stars themselves is about nil.

King Kong Bundy had a good career up until 1988 or so. He had been turned into a monster heel in the Texas territory, World Class Championship Wrestling. And Bundy really grew into that monster heel role including adding the 5 count to his repertoire, in Georgia Championship Wrestling. He became a huge monster in Georgia, and was even involved in an angle where he was a tweener heel against Paul Ellering during the initial run of the Road Warriors and the Legion of Doom stable that included the Paul Ellering, the Road Warriors, Jake Roberts amongst others. Then he went to the WWF and had his legendary squash match against SD Jones at Wrestlemania 1 and he had established himself as a top monster heel in pro wrestling. By 1985-86, Bundy was involved in feuds with the two biggest babyfaces in pro wrestling at the time....Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan. And then there was the 6-Man mixed tag w/midgets against a horrible performer (Hillbilly Jim) and by 1988.....poof.....he was gone. Vince dropped the ball with Bundy in my opinion.

It's sad that former World champions like Dusty Rhodes, Vader, Jerry Lawler, and Ronnie Garvin were done the way they were by Vince. Then you had guys like Jake Roberts, Paul Orndorff, and Jim Duggan, who had won numerous titles around the southern territories during the early 1980's, get snubbed as well when it came to wearing gold. To me, Dusty Rhodes & Big Van Vader were done the worst out of all the listed pro wrestlers. Dusty Rhodes was one of the most popular pro wrestlers in the world from the mid 1970's up until he went to the WWF. Rhodes, Andre the Giant, the Von Erichs & Hulk Hogan were the most popular pro wrestlers of the the 1980's. And Rhodes was a 3 time World champion. Then there was Big Van Vader, who dominated against top heavyweight performers across 3 continents in the late 1980's in Catch Wrestling Association, New Japan and WCW. He won 3 CWA Heavyweight championships in Germany, 3 IWGP Heavyweight Championships in New Japan, & 3 WCW World Heavyweight Championships in WCW. In 1993 Vader won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Wrestler of the year, PWI Wrestler of the year, and #2 in the PWI 500. He was thr hottest performer to jump to the WWF in years when he went to the WWF at Royal Rumble 1996. Then....the most dominant big man in pro wrestling since Andre the Giant lost clean to Shawn Michaels in main events constantly in 1996, including one of their biggest shows of the year....Summerslam. And by 1996, to me and many others, Vader was considered a better performer than Michaels. Luckily All Japan brought Vader in and he won the All Japan Triple Crown twice and that helped revitalize his career. But in my opinion, had Michaels not shit on Vader.....Vader would have had a career equal to Michaels. Which to me, Vader is not far under Michaels and i prefer Vader's matches to Shawn Michaels' matches. Sorry....went off on a rant there. Vader was one of my favorite performers, and Michaels bullshit really hurt Vader's career.....plus quite a few others...Chris Candido, Marty Jannetty, Shane Douglas, Bam Bam Bigelow, Carl Oulette amongst others. These were performers that were good to great, who may have had even better careers if not for HBK. But everyone forgives Michaels now.

Wait Dusty Rhodes never held a title ?? That’s shocking

There are two reasons why all these wrestlers never got a title run. 1) They did not need a belt for the purpose of their character. Or 2) Over the hill and would be stupid to put a title on them.

In fairness they have missed a whole load of superstars who never held gold in any form in WWF this could easily turn into a series since WWF in one name or another has been going since 1963 superstars have come and gone titles have come and gone as well .

Vince didn't give other promotions talent the title unless he was sure he would benefit.

I hope William regal is on this list he's probably the most charismatic wrestler that didn't really get a chance to show that charisma

Jim Duggen was United States Champion, though he never officially held the championship when it was bought by WWE he still counts so technically he did have a championship since the WWE US reign history accounts him as holding the title so yeah no dice junior

No. Holding a title in WWE is with a title that was during a wwe contract. That was in WCW.
@robertclark22535 жыл бұрын
This list could fill quite a few videos because the WWE has been going since 1963 several titles have come and gone and WWE has had 3 name changes from when Vince McMahon Sr and Capitol Wrestling broke away from the NWA in 1963 first of all World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) then World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and finally World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). This list is about Superstars who haven't held ANY title in WWE so it could easily become a series .

I never realized that Jim Duggan didn’t win a title. What an atrocity!
