Ever since Simon's mom died, he became different. More calm, cool, collected, and thoughtful. It's like he decided he wanted to give everyone the energy his mom gave him. (You know he had to be a hard man to raise.)

A few times Simon is prejudiced against certain songs like "Tomorrow", but he is willing to admit when he was wrong, and that is nice.

As a retired musician I've known many producers over the years, and despite their often utter lack of knowledge about music, the good ones really do have an ear for picking out talent that will sell. The downside is that they often get it just as wrong, as in the case of Olena, when the judges, including Simon Cowell, made a bunch of stupid, ignorant remarks. Since Olena's run on Britain's Got Talent, she has done very well, thank you very much, and her star continues to rise. The Achilles' Heel of any producer is his individual taste, which serves to create a glaring blind-spot. Producers are like doctors- always get a second opinion. It's not that one producer is any better than another- it's that you and your producer must connect, or else you'll end up with a toxic, unproductive relationship.

Greg THANK-YOU I, too am a retired vocalist, and musician. The audition process is VERY subjective! I love viewing all of the individual gifts being shared. Auditions usually require at least two numbers,the ability to sight-read and perform, and more. Vocalists may well need a second song to get into their most relaxed mode, all of the hours waiting around for their change to vocalize and perform. I was always willing to allow someone to do another song for an audition. Your comment regarding producers and directors it can be spot-on. One producer we had for a show was so obnoxious, profane, and sexist that I refused to work with him anymore. In fact, I literally told him right to his face, what I felt, and I walked out. I had been ASKED to be in this production, I had not auditioned because I had a VERY young baby and was not working at the time. He cleaned up his act at least around me. I found that I had much happier performers because I behaved respectfully to my cast. My mother always said, " I just do not believe in beating up on people to get the results you need, it is better to practice true communication.

The first young lady is so charming. Confident, and being stopped doesn't phase her too much. She has the cast-iron constitution needed for show business. Needs to work on the flutter in her voice, but amazing breath control and intonation for one so young, and great diction.
