There are less damaging ways to be a straight natural. Rollersets and flexi rod sets are great options to stretch your hair. My hair is so trained now that I can do a round brush blowout alone and I still have my curls. It's been almost 3 years of wearing my hair straight 90% of the time.

That’s my fear I like straight hair but my hair needs to be washed weekly, and I workout so I’m conflicted. I’d like to alternate from wash and gos then go straight for a week

Improper technique is what damages hair. I’ve been wearing my hair straight for over a year. I have fine hair and I wash, blow dry on high heat/speed, and press my hair on 370 weekly and I still have my curls. Our hair is no different than other ethnicities/races. It just takes more time to do because we have the curliest type, but we can absolutely do everything everyone else does with proper technique and no damage.

That’s great! It’s all about finding what works for you. Unfortunately, due to my busy lifestyle, I don’t have time for a roller set.

@@VirgosGroove3 I wash once or twice a week. My scalp has to be washed. I can't go longer than a week or my scalp is literally on fire.

I absolutely love straight naturals. Well i love anything natural tbh. Straight naturals are prove of how damaging relaxers were and are. I have seen sooo many friends of mine go from thin, flat, relaxed hair to having the thickest straight natural hair I have ever seen. Not to mention you being able to keep the deep rich black hair color by using straightners instead of relaxers.

I’ve been using olaplex #0 + #3 + #8 as well as a hydrating shampoo and deep conditioner. Bond building products help my fine + high porosity strands so much. I also love the redkin acidic bonding conditioner (11%)! However, what really seals my at home silk presses are the it’s a 10 leave in, color wow extra strength, and a heat protectant with keratin. It’s like magic! I use the Babyliss pro ceramic flat iron on 415 with one pass and those products set my hair up for success. Also I invested in the RevAir a few months back and that’s been an incredible investment.

I would also add that taking my vitamins, exercising once a day for at least an hour, drinking tons of water, and intentional eating with whole grains, fruits, lean meats, fatty fish, and veggies at the forefront of my diet has helped my hair tremendously!

I have a Best Friends brand ceramic flat iron. I know what is said about low heat but I have to use the highest setting because of it being ceramic but I only flat iron my hair once every couple of years. Never any problems. You may not have to use a high setting like I do but ceramic hasn't let me down yet.

I've been told not to put oils on the scalp. I used to do that weekly and my dermatologist had to prescibe a treatment to eliminate bald spots that ensued. Now I just massage my scalp nightly and brush the hair (not too vigorously) and I have to wash it weekly. Does this sound like a good routine?

My hair does a lot better if I roller set it first then roller brush and or flat iron it . I NEVER get heat altered. But, if I blow it out then straighten it I almost ALWAYS will ...

How do you keep your scalp from getting dry or what can you use after a silk press or trying to maintain natural straight hair?

That’s what I’m struggling with. My scalp always ends up dry even after going to a stylist and being recommended what to use. It just makes me want to stick to natural hair or get locs

Your shampoos are to harsh. My silk press training covers this or you can cocktail my shampoo along with whatever detox/clarifying shampoo you’re using.

Great video. Thank you! I deep condition, use a leave in and heat protectant but when I blow dry with my Dyson it feels super dry afterwards. It’s like the Dyson sucks all the moisture right out of my hair. I’m not ready to invest in a RevAir (as recommended in your free guide). Do you have any other recommendations or tips?
@queenruler9188

I dont know how you feel about Pantene but I had the same issue then I came across their liquid leave in and heat protectant in the same product family, game changer for me. My hair has always loved Pantene so it's not hard for me to like their products but I am always skeptical of anything new even by brands that I can trust. Try it out or another brand that you can use the leave in and heat protectant in the same family and see if that helps retain moisture. If all else fails, a good ol roller set will do you some good before a flat iron as well.
