@@mrreginator fantastic! I just took it from Atlanta to Charleston this weekend and it was a blast to drive. My only dislike is the auto shutdown button. Not sure exactly what its called but the car turns itself off at stops and you have to disarm that at every startup. Otherwise, its perfect! My front tag just came in that says "hell on heels"!

I think there's actually 4 "modes" for the exhaust valves, the one you've missed is when you're in dynamic mode with the gear in "sport" mode and shifting with the paddles, it "pops and bangs" a lot more than when just in dynamic with automatic shifts, great video, love to see this beatiful car getting some attention

I think the pops and bangs are engine management features (timing, fuel etc) rather than exhaust valve related.

From my limited experience with my F-Type R so far, Sport mode only impacts the shifting behavior allowing you to control the RPMs. The "manual" shifting does impact the pops and bangs, but entirely based on RPMs and backpressure. At a dig, I've noticed no difference in exhaust between Sport mode and "normal" mode. In dynamic mode it's obnoxious either way, in all the right ways (which your neighbors may or may not agree with). :)

Great points. I use the front parking radar where there are low curbs, it's kept the front end safe. Also worth noting that the oil check is a bit of a process as no dipstick so must use the vehicle electronic check system, especially important after servicing as too often, too much oil is added.

Regarding the front parking radar, it only works with walls or other high objects. If you drive up to a low curb, like a wheel stop, it's too low for the sensors to "see", and it stops beeping. Learned that one the hard way.

Thanks for taking the time to pull these 10 features into a great video. I've had my 2015 F-Type R since May 21, 2014 - it was one of the first batch in the USA. I'm a multiple Jag fanboy (XKR, XJR) and I went over to the UK for a full factory tour the same year. I thought I knew absolutely everything about my F-Type but the first item about the "secret" menu just blew me away. Keep up the great work.

The exhaust valves can squeak after a while. Jaguar said that it would need a new back box. You can spray the valves on the outside with a copper based lubricant and open / Close them with your hand. Squeak gone! I do mine every 6 months or so as preventative maintenance. Great video by the way!

To keep from bumping your nose pulling into a parking spot turn on the parking sensor on the hard buttons. The sensors only come on when backing but will help if pressed when pulling into a spot. SAVE YOUR NOSE

I almost always park back first, and the backup camera/sensor system is automatic, and very reliable. Pro tip- EVERY time I go to a gas station/convenience store, I park at a pump, whether I'm getting gas or not. No door dings, no curbs, no terrible "other's" parking to contend with (if someone parks close on the driver side, getting in and out is damn near impossible) and it would take a total catastrophe for someone to ding it at a pump.

Excellent video, and a beautiful car, the lack of visibility is purely down to closing the roof blind and your tint, I’m 5’10” and find the visibility excellent. Every time I show someone the windshield visors, they laugh out loud.... that little 2 inch visor just blows people away. I've even got a 6 inch tint across the top of the windshield, but those visors are almost never helpful.

Familiar with most of these, as an F-Type S driver. The front park assist will only SOMETIMES recognise the curb and sometimes not. So I don't rely on it. LOL. Took 10 minutes, the first time in my garage, inching forwards, getting out, lying flat to eyeball the bump at the back of the garage, to make sure the car cleared it AND that the tires hit it, before the nose hits the back wall :) I've been practising "Oh no, Officer. I reprogrammed the spoiler to deploy at 60mph instead of 70mph".

Explanation of the exhaust valves was epic. I have a 5.0 V8 supercharged range rover sport and since it does not have the active exhaust button I active the loud exhaust sound using the 2 other methods (going above 3500 rpm and dynamic mode). Great video. Subscribed! Much love from South Africa

I've got the 2014 V8R coupe, cooincidentally in white too. I love it. I wind the window down every time I start. Dynamic rocks all the time. It's an awesome sound. Didn't know about the exhaust soot and good tip on the bonnet opening & length. Almost rammed my wife's car before I got the full measure of the bonnet (hood) length. You could fill a similar length vid on the various ways to change gear on this thing. The 8 speed box is fantastic but there's the paddles, D & S modes, plus sharpening up under Dynamic and the way to re-set from the paddles to S or D too. Can get quite busy in the hot seat... Keep up the good work.

I have an F-Type here in the UK, enjoyed your video, thank you. My experience with the pop up spoiler is slightly different. It pops up over 73mph and retracts at just over 50mph. I can extend and retract using the button as much as I want unless I am over 50mph in which case if I extend it I cannot retract until I reduce the speed to 50mph. I sometimes give a little wave to the person behind me in stopped traffic :-) This is a fun car not for economy or utility, just fun, enjoy and watch others looking as you pass 'em by.

I thought one of the items on the list, would be the need for a battery tender. There are some surprising behaviors when the battery is low: engine light, transmission can switch out of manual mode, dash/infotainment system can blank and reset itself. It is bizarre when you are driving and this happens. So, if you are taking lots of short trips in your F-Type, invest in a battery tender. FYI, Jaguar offers them as an add-on. Honorable mention list item (this may just be my car): heated seat level three is quite HOT!! and heated seat level two isn't hot enough.

Owner for only 2mths now, but 1 thing I learnt on my coupe is that if you're driving with the shade closed and windows down at highway speeds, then try to ooen the shade while windows still down, you wont be able too... must be the air pressure... I had to roll windows up and then I was able to slide the sunroof shade back... at first I thought my shade was broken ... but my experience with my other cars and verts made me think and try the windows first...

13:00 it’s basically only in the US that you can’t raise or lower the spoiler any time you want. I live in Europe, I can raise and lower the spoiler at any speed below 70 mph. It has to do with some weird regulations.

I had the 2015 RWD V8S and you are correct, the sound system was awful. No matter what you do, it is impossible to get rid of the subwoofer rattle. In comfort mode with the active exhaust open, the valves also close between 2800rpm and 3000 rpm. Try making extra pops between that range by tapping the gas (you will get closed valve pops). I now have the 2018 R and they fixed all of the above, plus you get the new infotainment, cooling seats, more carbon Fibre options, tinted rear taillights and the car still has the pre-software updates massive exhaust (at least in Canada anyway)

When you have closed the bonnet, press down left and right to verify that it is locked properly. Now, produce a video of driving her to it's heart's content. Treat her like a woman!!!

Loved the video! Agree on the soundsystem. When I put on some hip hop or other heavy base jams the pad with the window buttons starts vibrating a bit since it is directly next to the speaker and it creates an annoying sound. My previous Jag was an XF which cost about half my F-type and that sounds system was awesome!

I have an f type r, love it and it's very reliable. The one thing that was not good was the sound system, well it's actually terrible, so I had it fixed / replaced, discreetly of course. Still it's a bit much to have to pay £2,000 for a new sound system on car that originally cost close to £100,000

When you open the car door the window will be slize a little down. But if you live in the areas whose have a winter season, the window can't go down because is frozen. Snow or rain is coming between your window en outside doorpanel. That get frozen and gives problems with open the doors. So the best thing to do in winter time when the car is standing outside, put some warm water on your windows so it defrost. Now you can open the door without to damage him.

I'm new to your Channel, and a New white 2017 F-type owner, and I LOVE LOVE this car. As a Female driver, I get many compliments from guys deciding if I know what I bought or how to drive it... Please, let's just take it to the streets !. I love driving in Dynamic mode, so much more power and noise. and that's all I need for a good drive. I love the sound system, I'm an all bass person and it has such bump, Hip-hop, R&B for me since I found the mode that suits me. Took it to the Foss Audio and had everything fine-tuned to my liking, no added parts, just set for me. It's better than my S500 Meridian stock stereo. I love it. As far as the soot, I bought ram board from Home Depot and taped it down just under the tail end of where the car parks in the garage. The view anywhere in the car is horrible. I put in cameras now and it's so much easier parking/backing out and curb parking.

Great video - on my second F-Type (2019 F-Type R) and am scared shitless to open the hood as I could never get my prior F-Type hood closed on both sides! Also curious about what version of the software does this to the exhaust as my F-Type v8 R is a beast with the crackles and pops and I would hate to lose that. Keep the videos coming - great work! BTW - when I upgraded my 2016 V6 S to the 2019 V8 R, I made sure I went for the upgraded sound system. much better than the stock meridian.

I just got my 2017 F-Type about 3 days ago. Traded in my 2012 Veloster. I did a lot of low key mods on the old gal but melting wiring harnesses and a lot of milage had me move on and I found this great little car. My 1st Con was the sound system. I spent $1200 and put in my own into my Veloster and had a great system. My hope is I would not need to do this on a new car but yeah, sound is not that good. Considering the space for the sound system though, i shouldnt have expected the same as my Veloster. As for these other things, i have have already discovered most of them. The hood, if closed from the driver side over and over, will cause it to drift and if on a hill especially, will cause the driver door to pinch the hood and remove paint. Mine was used and this was an obvious issue. I fixed it by loosening the driver side hood mount bolts (4 of them) and pushing it downward and holding it while tightening them back up. This fixed that issue. I then also got door edge guard, cut to fit and put it on the edge of the hood that was rubbing in case it happens again. You can also adjust the nut on the latch on the hood so it is a bit longer and catches better. If you look cloesely, the latch mechanism is revers on the driver from the passenger side internally so it doesnt grab the same. Leading to this issue. Another tidbit. Air filters are above the bottom splash guard one on each side. So you will need to rais it up and remove it. Not a quick change. Rearview mirror is darned near worthless if you have tint. However I found while driving I can go into the setting and it will let you turn the rear camera on and stay on while driving. Sort of a neat way to see behind you. Battery is in trunk behind the liner by the latch area. Overall I love this tiny car as crammed as I am. Tip: bring sest forward and tilt front end upward bit to support your legs and this will give you precious extra half inch to an inch more to recline the back of the seat. Like being on Spirit airlines, every cm of tilt on the seat is like an oasis in a desert. 😆 One final tip or thing I do on every car I have owned. I buy the good, thicker edge gaurd for the doors that has the metal squeeze support built in as opposed to the cheap sticky ones from the store. Because that stuff eventually oozes out, collects dirt. I buy like 30ft and I try to get it on the edge of the hood, doors and trunk. Any place the paint rolls over the edge because these are weak points and often where paint first chips off. As long as it doesnt bind anything. Plus it helps define the car a bit. Ok, yeesh, thats a lot from a 3 day owner. 🤓

Sooo glad you spoke about the stereo system. My biggest problem in my 2016 R is the vibration of the plastic center piece between the two seats located near the drivers right ear. It vibrates like crazy. I do love the HD stereo sound but not a lot of radio stations broadcast in HD quality. Any suggestions on how to stop the vibration? Love your videos. I own my 2016 R for one month now and it’s incredible. Bought it last month with only 25k miles. Like new!!

Make sure you choose the meridian surround speakers and adjust the bass and sub the lower the sub the less vibration you get but it’s only certain songs you get that vibration because of how the beat is rap songs I have no problem with

I found the stereo sounds great but you need to turn down the subwoofer in the sound settings. The sub on the F Type is too close to the rear of the seats and can cause a boomy vibration and poor sound if left in the default setting. Have the same system in a Range Rover and it sounds great but I think the subwoofer needs the four seat space to sound ok.

Great video! I am a proud owner of a recently purchased 2019 F type model - six speed manual. Last of the stick shifts builds. I love my car. I live on the island of Maui so what great climate to be driving such an awesome automobile. There’s maybe three total seen on the island. I upgraded the Meridian sound system and I hope it sounds better than the base. I do have a Mercedes as well and their Harman Kardin is quite good. I wish my spoiler would be deployed on demand not automatically at 70 miles an hour. Other than that. Great video again and keep up more posts :) mike

Each code may be specific to the model year.. so the main thing to look for is if the car has had a 02 sensor replaced, that’s usually when dealers place those software patches

Thank you for the comment! The only update you need to worry about is the one our cars get after faulty catalytic converters/o2 sensors. I posted which one that was in the comments on here. It starts with “k”. As far as your choice, that’s really smart to buy one in that segment. You get the benefit of used depreciation plus the security of a warranty.

Great video and some great tips. I personally find that the Meridian surround is pretty awesome if one is stopped , and I feel that should be the basis of comparison, however on the road with my V6S, he subwoofers kick in and therein lies the problem.....not going to fault the Meridians,but the bottom end gets pretty mushy competing with the Jag's award winning sound. I honestly think it's one or the other, quiet cabin/ great adjustable sound,/kickass Jag performance, turn off the sound system and enjoy the sound you bought. No sub is going to be able to compete with the sound of the car if you are pushing it, and why would you want it to.

I agree about the audio sound, however I have very good news. I put an 8 inch Rockville power sub in the rear well and then you can turn down the factory bass and sub and no more vibration and it sounds awesome with very deep warm bass. Also when you put in sport mode to manual shift it seems to affect the exhaust note as well. Thank you for your video.

Just picked up my 2023 F-type, what an absolute beautiful beast. Sad that the exhaust is not as loud as before and the sound system still sucks. Just a tip for new buyers, if you’re ordering your Jag, invest in the premium sound system, it is worth it.
