Thank you for this series on Beyond The Story. Getting your perspective as OG and true ARMY somehow validates my “stanning” this band in my 70s. I’m still intrigued by where or how you have the knowledge that you share in your videos. If you want to share that, I would love to hear it. Meanwhile, I think you should be working on your own book on BTS. Wishing you more success!

Thank you for your Cliff Notes and OG ARMY experience information. I am reading the book as well and for whomever may feel that she is spoiling things, SHE ISNT. As a fan the book is filled with little things we never knew about the members and what their experiences were like. The whole taxi cab thing is really bothering me still. lol

Another tremendous episode! I really appreciate your perspective on the performance in Saudi Arabia. Sometimes it is too easy to put on blinders and forget to look at situations from the perspective of all the parties involved. Some of the comments from people within the American music industry in response to Jung Kook’s SEVEN have struck me as so patronizing almost-like finally he is going to really take off now-tone deaf to the scope, range and extent of their existing individual and group talents and presence within the music community. Appreciative of your voice and perspective recording their journey added to the contents of the book.

Listening to your breakdown of the chapters has given me much food for thought. The point you made about the Saudi concert was so salient. I remember seeing all the performative outrage at the time and wondering how much of it was just anti-BTS rather than true political protest. I'd love to find out more about the period from their debut until 2015. Your OG recollections would be so interesting to me.

Thank you for your review, I am learning so much from you. I can relate to BTS performing even though they are sick or injured. It is definitely about the kind of person they are. I perform for free on a very small scale in my local community, but I will still perform whether I am sick or injured. It is not easy to explain why; it has to do with your passion. Should they ever perform for free, I am sure they will still have this mindset. It is their passion, artistry, and their love for army that drives them to do it. Also not wanting to let people down

A good example is that derulo guy who had a #1 hit because BTS was part of the song, and had little to do with his little bit of talent. He didn't even mention BTS when he posted thanks to his fans, and interviews. the only time BTS was mentioned was if the interviewer asked about them. On the other Hand, Halsey loves BTS gives them credit and collabs with all or one of the members . ARMY loves Halsey due to this sharing of everything. She is a lovely person. also Justin Timberlake, made a huge deal about JK ," letting him" show up for a remix 3D/ He even acknowledged Army's asking for a while for that collab and it's doing better than the OG. also Snoop and Usher... can you get a bigger confirm than Elton Freakin' John?

Thank you for this i actually waiting for this. Hopefully you could share your own experience bcoz i cannot imagine what BTS was going through how much more to the ARMY esp that you are not that big as right now. Bcoz right now as bb army theres you OG army that we can depend on can teach us. I myself dont have any knowledge about those BB,AMAs,Grammys streaming anything. Until BTS that i was so into it. Streaming voting etc. Idk, for me some ARMY says that OG army are lucky bcoz they know BTS first but i think baby army are more lucky bcoz we know BTS already big though there are still hurdles but not much as what you OG going through. I dont know I cant imagine. Sorry but though there are so much pain tears sweat stress etc. youve experience before but I really want ed to hear it from you. But no pressure anything you want to share im just curious. 💜💜💜 am i talking nonsense? Anyway thank you again.

Thank you, I particularly liked your comment about the US music market. Bang PD said Hybe needs to expand more into the "biggest music market of the world". He gave some of his reasons, I am sure there are more. Now we have "Seven" (I love the song!), all in English and Bang PD working together with someone like Scooter Brown (whose reputation is somewhat shady, no?). Is it wrong to be worried about the direction this takes? Will BTS be able to keep their specific color (messages etc)? In Festa 2022 RM said it feels as if he had lost control after BE (or sth like that). Now we had the solo albums of the rap line and Jimin. Nothing to be worried there but for the fact that Haegeum (MV), a highly intelligent and critical song, only has 49 mil views on YT, much less than even the other rapper's. What does this say about the fandom nowadays? I am very aware of the economic system we live in and the pressures that come with it. I just wonder, whether JK will be able to do the music he likes, whatever that is. JK and V are the ones who get most attention and certainly the ones who can bring in most revenues. It depends a lot on Bang PD and whether he manages to hold on to the ideas he had in the past. If it is not too personal a question I wonder how you became acquainted with BTS at that time and how old you were then.

I agree with you. My concern is also the direction taken in the US. The focus of Seven in the US as I have observed was much more on “the explicit version” than on JK’s artistry and talent. Their choice of a rapper was also dubious given her history which is the antithesis of their work fighting anti-Asian sentiments. For those reasons I think these choices were mistakes and a distraction from the focus on their talent and artistry and message. I believe they didn’t need to compromise for the US market. JK wanting to be “grown up” was used by US producers to push more explicit content into the mainstream and then wanting to connect with a Grammy winner was used to change a rapper’s image. It bothers me when I see them being used because they want to appear more “grown up” or are chasing a US Grammy or US BB number one. I would rather see the focus remain on how amazing their talent is because I think the results for them would be the same - maybe not the Grammy but is that really such a prize given the state of the US music industry? I don’t have insider information and understanding but as a US fan who loves the fact they have been hugely popular as a group without the US industry’s support, these are the questions I have also.

@@maryr1905 Hi, I have no idea about Latto's history (anti-Asian sentiments) but I am not particular enthusiastic about a rapper who mainly raps about sex. I loved the song from the start, but not the lyrics. Now I have looked at it more carefully I think it is a song about sex AND love. Whatever, I believe a lot of us are worried BTS might be swallowed up by the American music industry (to put it simply), sth we feel very uncomfortable about. Again, my knowledge is limited to what I see in YT. But I am quite aware BH (Hybe) constructs, controls and manipulates what we as audience see, so they are not necessarily the "good ones" either. Sigh, we will have to see. I nearly unfollowed them after Dynamite etc but then there was festa 2022 and the Solo albums, they are definitely good for a surprise. Btw I would very much like to know who was responsible for the final version of the lyrics.

This is the first of your videos I’ve watched and it’s great! I’ll be watching the rest. I also have the book. I wish Taekook was included as they are a very unique couple (twin flames) with a secret sign language that has been a treasure to witness . As much as there are those who are against the idea of same sex couples there are hours upon hours of undeniable beautiful heartwarming proof. Bighit/Hybe has and continues to downplay as well as intervene to separate them in the public eye which can also be witnessed on recordings. Body language and secret signs visible publicy on stage, during interviews, and other filmed programs /events. These signals and each others reactions to these are absolutely palpable as they continue to warm the hearts of Taekooks millions of supporters. With military service approaching it is more important to keep this relationship on the down-low yet Taehyung and Jungkook continue to give us hints in plain sight. True ARMYies will accept all the members as they truly are, not as they want them to be. I have watched hundreds of hours thru videos of their beautiful pure and loving connection. I’ve been ARMY since 2017 and If you’re interested I can share all the links to these interactions for you.

First impressions and all concerned, I would love to know how the name Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boyscouts) came about. Who thought of it? How much input did the guys have? Culturally, is the name considered arrogant, like here in the USA? How much, if any, backlash was specifically named or observed? If there is a video or article that gets into these details, just add a link and consider me happy. Thank you so much for your great videos! 💜

I am on the team "don't perform if you are injured/sick". Health is wealth, right? To further explain.... Note: "you" = the artist. Health is priority. If you are injured/sick, sit down. If your voice is fine, sit and sing/rap. I would rather see you sitting but singing/rapping your heart out than moving around like dead log. If voice and body aren't fine, then rest. When you are injured/sick and you still perform, it's not healthy AND it is insulting to me as an audience and to the art in general. it's like you're expecting me to be happy that you just showed. that's irresponsible and arrogant. If you are sick or injured and you still CHOOSE to perform, then make sure you give me a good show. Because I spent my hard earned cash to see a good show, not to see a smiling face. But if you CHOSE to do so, then perform, don't flail your arms and body and expect that people will be admiring you for the dedication to your audience. that's not dedication, that's you wanting people to admire you for half-assing your job, irresponsible, and arrogant. i understand that sometime, artists won't realize until they are on stage. once, twice... 10 or even 20% of the time that's happening, i'll understand. but if it's habitual, no. thank you. by the way, Yoongi revealed that he was so sick that he felt like he was going to pass out anytime on stage but he chose to perform & he delivered... slayed... served. I don't think he should have but I understand what was going on his mind and in the end, he made the best of the worst. meaning, he performed at such a high level worthy of the his name, deserving of his audience. because it was a decision HE MADE. he could have delayed and i am sure everyone would be happy to adjust but it was him who decided and he owned it.
