1. Quick change artists/people who argue about the price or try to scam the cashier 2. People who throw fits over return policies you have no control over/ customers with generally bad attitudes 3. People who pay with checks/WIC checks- Easiest way to get fired if not processed correctly 4. Not enough supplies at the register (not enough cash in the till, bags to put stuff into, missing pens, ect) 5. People who hold up the line by asking stupid questions like "does this thing work?" , "can we open this and plug it in and test?" ect. ( YOU CAN RETURN IT IF IT DON'T WORK PEOPLE) 6. Asking people to sign up for credit cards with interest rates they probably can't afford and then holding up the line to get them to go through the sign up process/being expected to have a "card quota" 7. Managers who expect you to multitask while processing a transaction at the register 8. The general anxiety and stress of being on the register/ being "on show" for one customer after the next 9. When your outdated POS system freezes or is working slowly 10. Being called to back-up constantly when you're behind on sales floor work while the normal cashiers have no fucks to give

As a cashier at Wal-Mart, I HATE canvas bags too, unless it's the cube-shaped ones that will stand in place. I also hate when they say they brought those bags AFTER you start putting them in plastic. I don't mind if they give me back something they decided not to buy, as long as it's not frozen or cold. That wastes money if you can't get it back to a fridge on time, and is even worse if it's ice cream. I also can't stand when people leave cold items on the shelves to spoil, or eat the stuff they got in deli, where there's no registers, and never buy them. At least if they put a cold item (apart from meat) in the fridges with the pop, which won't work since it's not well-regulated, at least it looks like they made the effort to keep it cold.

People paying for a small purchase with a $100 annoys me too. Cause that means I gotta verify it which where I work involves calling up the manager to my register and then I may have to get down in my little safe box to get change or if I don't have enough change cause I just started not long ago my manager has to run and get change for me. This process can take way longer than you just simply breaking the bill before hand or just simply handing me a $5 or $10 or whatever.

I agree with most of those, but not the last one. No one ever hands me the items they changed their minds on. Instead, they litter the entire register area with stuff, and don't tell me about it. Afterwards, when I have downtime, or get to leave register for a break or something, that's when I see The whole area stuffed with all the unwanted items that don't belong there. A lot of it is stuff that should have been kept refrigerated, and have now gone bad. I WISH more customers would give me the items so I can make sure they go back before they spoil.

@eddiejelley55653 жыл бұрын
I love when the customer treats the drawer at a supermarket as an atm. I work at a New England based store called Stop & Shop and the managers recently changed the amount of money you can take out of the register from $200 to $50 by debit and first when they used to be able to get $100 out it was always hard to do if we did not have the money to hand over. Now that the managers changed the amount, the customer still occasionally tries to get over $50 and we have to tell them over & over that you can no longer get that much. I never use the register to get cash back. If I need money I either go to the bank or the ATM.

When I worked at Wal-Mart, what got under my skin was when I would work the express lane that clearly says "20 items or less" and they would either start counting their items or ask, "is this too many?" having a basket full of groceries and still walking towards me for me to check them out.😑

dirty canvas bags are worse. nothing like putting fresh produce in a bag with mold, dirt, and a collection of old receipts. But hey, they are your bags, your produce (now). your problem. You don't even have to write out the check, AT ALL. the computer scans the bottom barcode and they hand it back. and for the love of GAWD, do your accounting LATER. People who DRIVE to the store, shop for restricted items and then say "I forgot my ID" They cannot override the system so you best not have your heart set on watching your rated R movie while chewing your tobacco and popping your pseudoephedrine for your allergies. Also, you best drive back home at 5 miles UNDER the speed limit you lawbreaker you... Forgetting where you shop. Please do not expect to return Target merchandise at a Walmart. Brandon Tarabocchia oh it's 4225 for me. I also LOVE when people ask me if the chip works. When we've had it for a year. FOR A YEAR. Like you haven't shopped here at all in the past year? There are so many customers that say "Oh that's new." And I'm just like are you serious? And 95% of our customers are people that live in the area and come back again and again.

I just started cashiering a few weeks ago and notice some customers pay over then what their total is. For example. The total is 14.56 then they proceed to give me a 20 dollar bill PLUS 56 cents. I don't get this they're still getting a random amount of change and bills
@hyperashitive32175 жыл бұрын
They pay you the exact cent amount so they can get full bills instead of coins. $20.56-$14.56 would be $6.00 back instead of $5.44 that way they have bills instead of coins to deal with

@@hyperashitive3217 ah yeah I figured. But then sometimes its still random change

@@jrno93 Yea there's not much explanation there unless they are a quick change artist trying to confuse you with counting change...

@@hyperashitive3217 I had that happen to me I just say the computer doesn't lie and I counted your change to you
@hyperashitive32175 жыл бұрын
@@jrno93 That's good that's what you're supposed to do. My very first day on the register I had a quick change artist try to confuse me after I already processed the change and tried to argue with me over the amount of quarters she gave me. Luckily, I didn't fall for it but those kind of situations can be stressful to a new cashier for sure.

I can't believe that this video was posted three months ago. You guys take cheques? And people still have to sign their credit cards? Do they not tap or have pin #'s where you are? Sounds like 2002 not 2017.

yeah checks are still a big thing in grocery stores. I have to run checks at least 20 times a shift.
