So 10K hours outside is 27+hr a day... That math aint mathing... 😂 But ditching what social media says our priority should be is a fantastic approach to 2024! 🎉 There is so much added stress when we think society (who's all getting cut backs from links) is setting the standard of what good parenting, or a good home is. I'm so glad you chose to go with your own decor style for your current home as well. I'm sure it will also be such a beautiful memory for the children to talk about those unique pieces you guys select once they have homes of their own. ❤

It's 1,000, so not 10k. Which is way more doable. It comes to 19.25 ish a week, or 2-3 hours a day. I didn't commit to this either, but I just aim to be outside as much as possible. But it definitely matters the season you're in. For us, being outside saves us every day. Very worth it and just do it the way you want and how it works for you. We don't track. I make lunch for us daily and have adopted the once we're out stay out, so we leave and I have snacks and water, stay at the park, eat at the park, go to a near by forest, swim, take walks, but also walk to places, etc, then when we come home we play outside again. I have just been challenging myself to think "can I do this outside?" Like pealing veggies, sit outside and do it, folding laundry, drinking your coffee, having meals outside rather than in the dining area inside.

It's 1,000, so not 10k. Which is way more doable. It comes to 19.25 ish a week, or 2-3 hours a day. Mainly to combat screen time. I didn't commit to this in a formal sense either, but I just aim to be outside as much as possible. But it definitely matters the season you're in. For us, being outside saves us every day, from tantrums and constant requests for screen time, also you can't make messes at home if you're outside 😂 Very worth it and just do it the way you want and how it works for you. We don't track, I won't bc that adds stress for me. I make lunch for us daily and have adopted the once we're out stay out, so we leave and I have snacks and water, stay at the park, eat at the park, go to a near by forest, swim, take walks, but also walk to places, etc, then when we come home we play outside again(trampoline, family walks after dinner, bike rides, water table). I have just been challenging myself to think "can I do this outside?" Like peeling veggies? Sit outside and do it, folding laundry, drinking your coffee, having meals outside rather than in the dining area inside. So many options. Hopefully you can apply it in a way that works for you. We have enjoyed so many more friends and then the bonding time with our kiddo.

I just watched an interview podcast with the author of this book. Such a great concept and great benefits for the whole family!! ❤ but it definitely depends on your stage in life. You definitely get a pass, sweet Nicole! Having a young baby and all! But I think you might get more hours than you imagine in that beautiful backyard this year! Our baby is almost 18 months and I’m not gonna track either. But I loved the challenge/ mindset and will definitely try to be out more often than we already do this year! 😊

As a teacher and mom. It's okay not to be full montesorri. The more important aspect of play is being open ended, playing with your kiddos, exploring nature with them, doing house chores together and reading together. Inner work and co regulation is so much more important than wooden fruit. :)

Honestly, it is such a relief seeing your video. I guess as a stay at home momma watching other mommas that are doing the same things, you start believing that that’s how you should be doing things too. It got to the point where I started feeling as a bad mother/ wife for not always having the house cleaned, or not feeling like cooking all the time, etc. It’s just really refreshing seeing your video and being reminded that it’s okay if you don’t follow or do everything that is trending rn. Thank you Nicole🌻

Yeeees to all of it.. I stop sharing my kids on social media when my oldest baby was probably 2 months old, because I found out that my extended family would save those photos in their phone( I probably sound insane or to much( but my brain went if they can other people can) I became so overprotective of my kids in social media.. I know people/family talk but I don’t care. Is their safety 😊 Really I don’t follow mom content on IG for the same reason and if I follow mom content KZbin has to be a balance (like you) you show the good and the bad of motherhood in a healthy way!! You are doing great mama 😊

I loved what you said about having your own style in your home. I love a super clean all white look, but my house is the complete opposite! I have bright colors everywhere and odd vintage pieces that are special to me and tons of photos on the walls not to mention a yellow couch. Nothing matches and I’m perfectly happy with that. But I do keep very neat and organized so there’s that at least I can say I have my own unique style 😊

My whole life I've been different. I never follow trends "just because" and I'm always "just me" 😅 I've hated being like this for so long because I was bullied and alienated but I now see how it benefits me. I don't do any of these things because they're trends. There are some things I do that you mentioned, but that's just because I genuinely like it. Now I see, I love being "just me" 😊

Thank you for this valuable video Nicole! The home we’re currently living is on the smaller side and our living room is our children’s play room/entertainment center. I’m trying to accept that our living area is constantly messy no matter how often we clean up😊 but sometimes it’s still hard to live with. Seeing the “perfect” homes or living rooms that are toy free, or the super organized toy rooms can be difficult to see online and I start the comparison game. I’m going to actively work on not comparing and letting go of the expectation that my house has to look perfect at all times.

I love that you made a video about this. I used to compare myself to SAHM the first time around that I was staying at home with my then 9 month old. I felt like I needed to buy all the latest and greatest toys, I needed to keep my baby entertained with certain toys/ x,y, & z. I then started working and just became a SAHM again because I’m pregnant with my 2nd and I’ve taken a different approach this time around and feel a lot happier with my decision this time around. I’m not letting all of that content influence me this time around and I now just watch it for “fun”. I feel mentally healthier this time around. 😊

I love watching realistic videos about mothers and children. Such videos about milestones and daily routines helped me a lot to understand what to do with my child and myself during maternity leave. I watched a lot of expert advice on sleep, breastfeeding, and playing with the baby, but it turned out that half of it didn't help me, my child wanted something different, and I found different alternatives in mum's vlogs. But today there are very few realistic bloggers, it's a business today and they only show good and beautiful 5 minutes of the day. Although I don't need children's names, faces or their details, I am interested in understanding what everyone is doing and being in the know, because I often get stuck and don't know what to do with my child.

Just came across your video and this is what I really needed to hear! At some point I thought I was failing. The only thing I did end up purchasing is the infamous Stanley cup not for me but for my daughter she loves her cold water we are more of hydroflask family since it does not leak it’s sleak and it does the job. It something she waited through and it was a reward for her. She outgrew all her small camelback water bottles. I feel like it’s like us adults at the end of the year we get our huge water jugs to drink more water. In another note I enjoyed listening to your video it’s more realistic than what’s being out there. SUBSCRIBED JUST NOW!

Great video! I think when ppl commit to something like 1K hrs outside in a year, they risk setting themselves up for failure. Life is busy and messy, you’re bound to miss the target and then feel defeated, disappointed and self deprecating. Goals need to be SMART but people often focus heavily in on the specific, measurable and time-based at the expense of achievable and realistic! It would be far better in my opinion, to start with a smaller more achievable goal that’s a step up from where you are now. For example, if you work from home and some days spend little to no time outside, 2.5 or more hours is a massive stretch. Starting with committing to getting outside for 30 minutes everyday is more achievable; then when you accomplish the task, you find motivation and momentum in that achievement, to build from there.
@Nicolelelagreen
@Nicolelelagreen 5 ай бұрын
Right exactly! I’m big on the “realistic” portion of that. If it’s not realistic, it’s hard to build the motivation to do it and it’s a lot less enjoyable.

I'm not one to follow trends. However, I kinda fell into the sourdough making and dress wearing lifestyle. And I say lifestyle because it has been a huge shift in my life. I struggled with clothing for so long being insecure about what I wore, always worried how people viewed me. I was a slave to my clothing... The Lord set me free from constantly thinking about how I am perceived. One day I put on a modest dress and never felt more confident in my life, I feel that change in my mindset to honor God and my husband in my clothing, and I got rid of almost everything in my wardrobe and got a handful of quality dresses. Best thing I have ever done. As for sourdough, I have been addicted to so much sugar in my life that I have had another lifestyle change in learning new things to make at home so I know what ingredients are in it. Plus, sourdough only takes about 15min hands on throughout 2 days. Super simple
@Nicolelelagreen

Definitely a difference between lifestyle and passing trend! Love that you found a clothing style that helps you feel more confident and suits your needs. I can see how that could be very freeing if you're struggling with bondage to clothes/looks and I really appreciate you sharing your perspective. I'm hoping to eventually learn how to make sourdough, just saw a reel sharing the easiest fastest way!

Love this video so much! Finally seeing someone speak up about not just following trends blindly and actually considering if that works for you or not. Especially the "decluttering trend", I actually love decluttering and organizing but where I live (Egypt) it's just not that feasible to just get rid of some stuff just because you didn't use it for the last couple of months or so. If I get rid of my crockpot just because I didn't use it for the last few months, I might never be able to afford to buy it again if I change my mind later lol we're going through an inflation atm and everything is getting so expensive. So I need to think very carefully about what I'm buying and what I'm keeping even if I only use it a few times per year. And we def don't buy a bunch of new containers just to organize our stuff, we use what we already have. Again, thank you so much for this video, I hope so many people can watch it.

I try to buy things only thrifted or thing that 'finish' (craft stuff). I encourage people around my to buy second hand/thrifted or something there own kids don't play with anymore (i notice people find this a little hard to do and feel hesitated to give something that is not new)

the way i got excited when you read my comment!! 🤣 loved the video.. i'm not an influencer by any means, but i did have someone create a fake profile pretending to be me & using my photos.. it was just so creepy how easily someone had access to my children's photos.. that really opened my eyes.. we can be innocent about how we think about our children, but to know other people out there have other intentions, so creepy.. good on you mama!! we respect it!! 👏🏻

Such a good video! You are real, humble and transparent; things that most people lack. It is good to see videos talk about real things in life. One of the things I keep asking myself is: people say they are unique, but follow same fashion trends or simply do what’s trending in the moment. Don’t get me wrong, if someone likes something, and it happens to be trending at the moment, it doesn’t mean that they want to copy per se someone, you can truly like something and do it also. But for me, what makes me sad about instagram is seeing everyone traveling and I keep asking myself what I am doing wrong. And recently I told myself that is social media not real life. Yes! Some people travel a lot, maybe just for work or they are rich, whatever. But, even if I don’t feel like I am in the place where I want to be, I know my life and circumstances are different. Yes, I do struggle with my age thinking that I need to have certain things before I am 35 years old, but I am working on that. Social media wants to portrait a perfect life by having certain things, but people forget that life itself is perfect no matter the situation you are going through. God has control over everything!

Hi Nicole. Thank you from the Netherlands:) so funny and inspiring to hear you think about the same topics in life although living an ocean apart! I recently changed the interior from beige to loads of color and it makes me feel so much more at home in my own home and also for the kids to play in. And regarding trends, i don't have insta and just watch you on KZbin:) it helps with following my own path but still so sensitive to what 'the world' thinks about mom/womanhood. So thank you for sharing. You said before (from Scripture) to believe the thoughts that are true and come from God instead of the lies (about ourselfs) and that can also help when we evaluate choises we make. If it is helpfull to be the person you want to be and think is asked of you to be it will probably bring more peace instead of stress (in my experience) but it is an constant travel;) Thank you for the list it definitly resonates with the season im in! Have an beautifull easer weekend with your family.

We are doing the outdoor challenge this year. It’s 1000 hours outside per year and it’s actually so much easier to accomplish that it seems. Granted we aren’t aiming for 1000 hours, just tracking our time to see what we get too. The goal I set for us is to get out every day! And so far we have :) I live in Canada & we definitely have all of the seasons including the yucky winters and as long as we have the appropriate gear my 1.5 & 3.5 year olds have been totally fine! :)

Loved this video! For the dress point, I totally feel more productive in a dress too! However, sometimes I think some influencers can make you feel like you don’t love Jesus enough if you’re not wearing a dress or you’re not being modest/feminine. We all have a personal responsibility to unfollow accounts that make you feel icky, and I’m sure not all accounts are meant to come off judgmental, but the dress movement seemed to come full force! The Holy Spirit is working with me on modesty… but dresses are not apart of it. Taming my tongue, and softening my responses for my littles is the focus right now ❤
@Nicolelelagreen

well said friend. I've been recently reminded as well that modesty is a state of the heart, not just what you wear. And yes, many things can be modest, not just dresses! This topic is soooo interesting, but I'll leave it at that. Thanks for the comment

Love this! It’s only 1000 hours outside though, 10,000 is mathematically impossible 😂😂 I’m doing it this year but I’m SO behind bc of winter. I’m sure we will catch up over the summer when we can spend 6-8 hours outside! But I’m not stressed over it and I just like the idea of seeing how much time we spend outside! Loved this video so much! Thanks for sharing this list. Sometimes in comparing to other momma friends I’ve felt this so much in regard to the all Montessori toy approach which is not the case in our home but I’m so okay with that. It’s enlightening to hear you talk about it as a momma who did take this approach and can share your perspective on it. OAN, I have a Stanley cup which was a Christmas gift from a family member (would’ve never spent that much on a cup either) and I don’t get the hype lol It’s the same as using a simply modern, Fahrenheit or any other insulated cup brand out there. 😅😅 Can’t wait for the next video!

Saaammme. As a newer content creator in the same niche, I have also noticed the trend of dresses and aprons. It’s just not authentic to me, although I like the idea of wearing more dresses in the summer it’s not super practical for breastfeeding. I also never wear aprons to cook or clean and have never actually seen anyone wear them in real life 😅 Maybe it’s not fake for every content creator out there, but I really do question if people are being honest with themselves about why they are changing their wardrobes.

I started 1k hours outside challenge and gave up because it was kind of annoying tracking the hours… plus with multiple kids with different nap times it got kind of over complicated and confusing. We just get outside as often as possible and call it good. :)

Girl i agree with u on everything. I feel like i was always a rebel, if everyone is following a trend i have to go the opposite way. Lol About the trad wife thing, im a sahm but i feel the least productive in a dress. I cannot function with a toddler and my 6 month old wearing a dress, it drives me crazy. Lol someone gifted me a fake Stanley cup and i was totally fine with it, but they’re annoying, flip over, leak, too big to carry around., etc. i go back to my $10 bottles that are simple, or my fave one is the hospital bottle with a straw. 😅

The kids online thing freaks me out. I've started seeing so many weird comments from grown women/men where they feel entitled to information and updates on children they see in vlogs. Like "oh we haven't seen ___ face in awhile. I miss them. When are you going to show them more?" Etc. I find it really creepy and terrifying
@Nicolelelagreen
@Nicolelelagreen 6 ай бұрын
Yeah I've seen that a bit. I think some it's creepy and some it's just genuine people who have formed an online relationship in a sense with creators. But ultimately yea it's the creators decision if they want to include their kids and I don't think they should ever get pushback for that.
@lauramitchell6725
@lauramitchell6725 6 ай бұрын
When you compare other comments that some of these people have made,like “I’m old enough to be your mom but love your channel”,etc. then you realize that most are just lonely old grandmas who don’t get to see enough of their own families and also don’t realize all of the pitfalls of the internet. Many are isolated and don’t leave their homes anymore for health reasons so they are tuning into your life and family. Not everyone is a creeper.🥰
