What always gets me is without hesitation, she puts her entire faith in Harry when she sees him return to the school! Wakes everyone up and mounts a defense in the school based on him "needing time"! An absolute legend!

To be fair, Potter defended the elixir of life from the world’s most evil Wizard (AT ELEVEN), was one of the only people to slay a basilisk (AT TWELVE), performed a corporeal patronus (AT THIRTEEN) and drove away not just a couple dementors but ONE HUNDRED, at FOURTEEN he won the Triwizard tournament with Cedric….. I could go on and on. The point is, if Minerva didn’t put her faith in Harry, it would be a very stupid mistake to make and a betrayal of such an intelligent character

@@basketballgirl723 I think your mixing trust with faith. Of course she trusted harry for all his accomplishments but she put her faith in him irrespective of knowing what Harrys plan was, what Dumbledore had told Harry, etc. she knew none of it and still did everything without hesitation.

Actually she trusts Dumbledore and he insisted that Harry is their only hope. So it is logical.

This was an example of plot. Or “help will always be give at hogwarts to those who deserves it” harry was the help she needed for her morale at that moment, and minerva helps him right back. Or you know, plot.

Honestly, i think they really nailed her in the movies. Maggie Smith did an amazing job playing her and really caught her book-self well in the adaptations. Sure, some details were left out, but she really could not have been captured better than she was.

"Have a biscuit Harry" was always something so cool to read. She wouldn't directly say "fight her" but instead gave Harry a cookie when she opposed Umbridge. That's very telling of her personality in my opinion

Fun Fact: Minerva is the Roman goddess of intelligence and Wisdom along with strategic warfare, justice, law, and victory (also the Roman name for Athena) which fits this professor so well

Regarding McGonagall's relationship with Trelawney, yes, her prophecy and all that maybe true. But what happens when McGonagall ascends as Headmistress of Hogwarts after Dumbledore's demise, does their relationship improved or just stayed as it is?

I always knew she became head mistress as she always was sorta second in command. But about your question we may never know. It not clear if dumbledor or maybe harry at a later time ever told her about the 2 true profecies she made. Had they done that she may look at her in a different way. But like I said we never know as the books have ended. Unless rowling post something on pottermore about it

McGonagall is such a strong character, I really admire her; even when we were introduced to her as strict, she showed empathy, a warm personality and a righteous heart. Like when she comforted Trelawney when Umbridge wanted to kick her out despite her obvious dislike toward divination 🔮 And the times she left the strict posture aside, like when she offered a biscuit to Harry after he shouted to Umbridge 😜 Or when Hagrid kissed her on the cheek hahaha 😂

I love the way she stands up to Umbridge in the fifth book, to the point of defending Trelawney (who she can’t stand) and Hagrid (which gets her attacked). She also makes it a point to back Harry’s ambitions regardless of what Umbridge and the Ministry think.

Let’s not forget in Battle of the Astronomy Tower she did two things: 1. She dueled against a death eater and 2., she had enough time to send a curse at Alecto Carrow that forced Alecto’s hands to cross over her head which led to Alecto running away.

The speculation was that Gryffindor had the headmaster's office, Hufflepuff had the room of requirement, and Ravenclaw had some room that could only be accessed by some specific combination of the changing staircases (which are known to be her creation)
