But that's probably just easier to use the thumb to point behind you while walking backwards.

correction. it's not dialect. it's LANGUAGE. Dialect is using Indonesian but with some localization added into it. "piye kabare?" (Javanese) or "kumaha damang?" (Sundanese) fell into language. dialect will be something like "opo kabar'e le?" or "pa kabar lur?". Javanese is a language not just a dialect. it has grammatical structure, it has its own vocabulary, it even has its own alphabet (aksara jawa). so does Sundanese (Bahasa Sunda and Aksara Sunda), Bataknese, and 700+ others. we have 718 local LANGUAGE (Bahasa Daerah) total not just dialects.
