His tomb is not protected. He was buried somewhere, the people who buried him returned to a secluded meeting point where they were executed, then those executors returned to a different meeting point where they were executed, ensuring no living person knew where the burial was, so the grave could not be desecrated.

Then let me tell you a bit more. Most elderly people in Mongolia has a very unique type of religion. They are mostly buddhist however they also believe in spiritual beings/nymphs that exist and watch over certain regions like mountains, forests. They pray to them and as well as the “sky”. In fact, most nomadic housewives always offer some freshly made milk tea or milk to the “sky” and “nature” every morning and night. Although the population in the capital city, Ulan Bator has been rapidly increasing, the nomadic lifestyle is still very widespread. And especially recently, they’ve been aiming to preserve their traditional culture and educate the younger generation of it. There have been increasing number of festivals aimed to promote their tradition. Mongolians have 2 main holidays. One is the Lunar new year, the date varies because it is based on lunar calendar but it is mostly around February, sometimes January. Traditionally, the holiday was to celebrate the incoming spring. Because the winters in Mongolia have always been very harsh, for nomads it was always hard to preserve through it and have little to no casualties in their herds consisting of mostly cows, sheep and goat and horses. So, during the celebration, it is tradition to ask how they are and also how their herd is. It may sound a bit silly but herds and dairy are the main aspects of mongolian nomadic lifestyle. Second is the Naadam, celebrated from July 11 to July 13. During the Naadam there are three types of competitions; traditional wrestling, archery and horse racing. There are also a few other smaller holidays, though their origins might not be as early as the two mentioned before. There are many traditional instruments, the most popular one is called “Morin Huur”, which directly translates to “horse instrument”. The string is made of horse tail and the main body is made of wood. The highlight is that it has a small carving of a horse head at the top. More skilled player can create a sound mimicking the sound of a horse whinnying. There are still many things to say but I will stop here.

His birth name is temuujin, a very common male name in modern Mongolia. But his title chinggis haan possibly derives from the word tengis "тэнгис" which is kind of fancier way to say ocean. And Mongolians use ocean a lot to describe something far enormous and wide, deep and big. And haan literally means king in mongolia. So his title may be smt like ocean king, not as in literal ocean but as in king who rules and controls far and wide as the sea(ig???idk history class didn't teach the meaning too deep) Kind of like Dalai Lama in Mongolia which literally means sea/dalai ,monk/lama. Sea and ocean being metaphors for deep and big wisdom, giant and unending rule or knowledge, anything rlly.

for those who dont know/dont know mongolian, or doesnt know what the names mean👇 Its still not "Kan" or "Khan" in mongolian it means King so if you were to directly translate his name it would be King Chingis or something like that Ulaanbaatar when directly translated means 'Red hero' A mongolian yurt/"ger" isnt pronounced as 'gir' / when translated it means 'house'/'home' If mongolian household is packing up their yurt and leaving, the father/home owner has to find a good spot a few days prior to the moving. If someone in the process of moving comes by another mongolians yurt its tradition to welcome them in with a light snack^/curd and some freshly made milk tea (using already made tea is considered wishing/bringing the household bad luck)

It wasn’t the second largest empire of the world, it was the largest in the world at one point. No other empire spanned as much land as it did. You could say the British empire came close if you figured in the amount of water it deemed as theirs.

The British Empire was larger than the Mongol Empire. The Mongols had most of Asia except the South-East, Indian Subcontinent and Japan. And some parts of Eastern Europe. The British on the other hand had Canada, Australia, Egypt and many colonies in Africa, Oceania and Asia
