I remember seeing this movie in the theaters with my father when I was 7. I quickly noticed how different the turtles looked during their opening dance number. I turned to my father and asked him why do they look so different and he just told me that they got older. I give him props for quickly coming up with a cover for it.

You forgot one of the more pretty interesting unknown facts about this movie. The martial arts choreography was handled by Pat E. Johnson, who did the fight choreography for The Karate Kid (1984) and also played the ref at the All Valley Tournament. Also, Liu Chia-Leung (Lau Kar Leung), who is considered one of the greatest martial arts/kung fu movie directors and choreographers in film history (Shaw Bros.), was a technical advisor. 😎

I was so happy just to see the Turtles using their weapons again after the extremely distracting second film when they went out of their way to avoid using their weapons (or fight Shredder). There is also some beautiful scenery in this film. It's disappointing that they didn't fight a worthy enemy in this movie, but I still prefer it over SOTO for the reasons listed above.

Technically speaking, none of the Ninja turtle movies are great. But then again it's based off of a comic book intended to be over the top ridiculous and cheesy. Not just corny but super cheesy. But in my opinion the third entry is more in the spirit of the first film whereas the second film was played for laughs. Think about it. Shredder, when you falls into the ooze, not only grows extra big but his outfit becomes sharper and it too is mutated beyond belief. Which is a scientific and physical and possibility. Then the turtles have time to dance with rappers and the rappers come up with the turtles rap in two and a half seconds. I know rap is easy but it's not that easy. There's a lot of things over the top stupid in turtles 2. Teenage mutant Ninja turtles 3 tones those back down. We get the turtles we got in the first film. No, I'm not talking about the way they look. I'm talking about their attitude and personalities. I suggest that you watch the first movie skip the second then watch the third film. And you'll enjoy the third film much better because you won't have the silliness and ridiculous over the topness in the second film in your brain.

TMNT 2012 did some time travel. They even had Renet. They had the turtles in samurai gear too (with Usagi Yojimbo!). If you’ve never seen the show, it’s actually really good. I’m 36 and was obsessed with the Turtles as a small child, and I can honestly say that it’s better than TMNT 1987 😱. Oh, and Donnie is voiced by classic Raph!

From what I've heard, it sounds good, but the art style in that show is just so UGLY! I'm sure that's what they were going for, but the weird way the characters move, and how their eyes sometimes turn completely white is just really off-putting. And then there's the color palette. Maybe some day I'll watch it and enjoy, but from the little bit I saw, I was just turned off.

I'll wager that the toys never caught on due to when they came out. The child audience that was in on it from the beginning was growing out of the toy age. I was 14 + when this came out and I had been following the series from the start. The younger crowd was being inundated with Power Rangers and the show was falling off. The collectors and the "Ohh! Turtles in Time on SNES was my favorite Turtles game! Even as a kid, I remember being so disappointed by the third Ninja Turtles. I think our theaters even realized it was bad, so they coupled it with The Sandlot as a doubleheader and we watched both movies for the price of one :D And don’t get me started on the toys. We had every turtle figure, vehicle, and environment for the first few years they came out. We had all of them from the second Turtles movie, but the third one? Hell no. They looked like garbage!

@@nsasupporter7557 Point taken the costume were nothing like the first two movies but toned down I mean the Turtle weapon use was different. In 2 because outcry against violence this Turtles movie. I mean the first scene Mikey can't use weapon so he uses sausages Raphael can't use his Sai's. Leonardo can't use his sword. Even when later in the movie when he and the rest of Turtles were suspended in a Net and his sword on visible on his back he doesn't use them to cut his way out. TMNT 3 do to fact that it was set in Feudal Japan compare to New York City it became a way to please hardcore fans who wanted to see the Turtles use weapons more but to make things less realistic by changing settings. Come to think of it maybe that was the idea behind costumes so younger viewers could tell the difference between real and fake?

OK, I'll try to explain Turtles in Time subtitle. When the arcade game came out in 1991 it was called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, but when SNES port came in 1992 it was released as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time. The number IV (4) stands as the forth TMNT title for home consoles. The others are: 1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989) - NES 2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (1990) - NES. Port of TMNT: The Arcade Game from 1989. 3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (1991) - NES 4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (1992) - SNES As for movie's Turtles in Time subtitle, at the time of movie's release, nowhere in the world was the movie called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time. The subtitle was added as a marketing gimmick on home video releases. Kinda like Die Hard 2: Die Harder.

Bingo. I was positive that there was no subtitle for the third movie when it was released but by the time I got my Blu-Ray set 10+ years ago, they were officially calling it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time. I've wondered if the relative popularity of the game - perhaps in conjunction with the lack of popularity of the film - led them to superficially tie the movie to the game in that way, perhaps to deliberately confuse people into thinking they were related.
@pentelegomenon1175
@pentelegomenon1175 2 жыл бұрын
@@WileECoyoder It was a common mistake, people (including me) often mistakenly called the movie "Turtles in Time," and I'm pretty sure that it was quite a while before any home video releases went along with that mistake, though I definitely agree that they really liked the idea of linking the movie to such a popular and cool game.

11:39 - Add my howling to the chorus, but you're showing the SNES game here which was called TMNT 4: Turtles in Time, but the *ARCADE* game of this was just TMNT: Turtles in Time (without the "4".) First: the Creature Shop didn't participate in the third entry because A; Henson's passing left them hesitant to take the job, B; they were simply too busy with other projects at the time, and C; the 3rd movie was working with a fraction of the budget the 1rst 2 had. They just couldn't afford Henson. But that being said, I actually like the premise of this one, and thought it made sense, but it was definitely executed wrong. Mostly likely for the reason you stated. =)

The crappy villains for this movie were the biggest problem. Everyone expected Krang for the third film... we didn't get that. Baxter Stockman in his FLY form would have been a good runner up... we didn't get that. Rat King would have been acceptable... we didn't get that. The Dimension X military rock guys like General Traag would have been good... we didn't get that. Hell, we didn't even get the mutated dinosaur warrior from the original comic's story... we got some lame normal dude dressed like a rejected musketeer instead. Not cool.

5:39 I'm not sure you understood Henson very well. He always wanted to push puppetry in more adult and darker works. Take a look at his films The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and The Storyteller. There were multiple reasons why the Henson Company didn't make the suits. The third film had a smaller budget and the Henson Comoany were too busy with other works at the time to take a lower rate.

To this day I never considered this movie a bad movie. Although yes, it ramps up the silliness to the max at the end. But dammit, they could make a 4th one today, and build from the past trilogy. I really think they should use the time travel adventure from the 3rd movie, to justify a Renet and Savanti Romero movie plot. Heck that could even lead to bringing back Shredder. The point is, with all sorts of ips going back to the original movie plots (Cobra Kai, Ghost Busters Afterlife, etc) they need to do the same with the original turtles movies.
