Destiny Developed: Bungie Screwed over by: Activision

This is what happens, when a developer signs to activision, Activision gets a huge amount of creative control over all games produced by the developer. Meaning they can step in and force the developer to make and put things in the games because Activision tells them to. The same shit happened to the original Infinity Ward. They didn't have complete creative control and wanted that changed. Activision said no and when Infinity Ward wanted out, Activision fired over half the team. If Bungie doesn't do what Activision tells them to, they can fire the members of Bungie for "breach of contract". I believe that Activison told Bungie to take things out and make it DLC so they could make even more money. Makes me sick that this shit happens but that's what a big business does. They are only in it for money and nothing else.

Dude u got the game And then you need to buy it again waste of mony!
@charilkon10 жыл бұрын
Aaron Goman Lol No... Did you know that Activision went into a law suit with infinity ward? and Activision owed IW a lot of money and were going to be completely put under? Bungie stepped in and made a contract with Activision to pay off the debt to IW. There fore allowing Activision to step in and help create the game with Bungie. If you want to blame anyone for Activision... it's Bungie, but I like Bungie so I think what they did wasn't a bad idea.

Physically speaking, the substance that expels from the Fallen is Ether, which is their lifeblood. This leads me to believe that "restoring its soul" means infusing it with Ether, thus returning it from a near death state.

Heres another Dark Souls reference: Theres a Exotic helmet called the Achlyophage Symbiote where the description says "They told me it would eat my thoughts and leave me full of Light." This is a reference to how Solaire gets the Sunlight Maggot on his head and goes insane.

I find it hard to believe that people say Destiny has no story. If you actually played through the game, you will find that the game is as rich in lore as Skyrim.
@keegangates507310 жыл бұрын
Story and lore are two different things. Story is what actually happens in interactions between characters and the world, while lore is what happened before the story so that the context is more coherent. You can have a rich backstory yet no plot, which is what plagues destiny.
@VanpyroGaming010 жыл бұрын
Keegan Gates The plot is quite clear: You are revived from the dead to help stop the Darkness in any way shape or form. There is character development (although subtle). There is a load of background on where everything comes from. Look at Halo. That had no story until later on but did people bitch at that? No.
@keegangates507310 жыл бұрын
I never claimed that destiny has no story, only that it was lacking. I also acknowledged that destiny has an incredible backstory ( yes, I collected nearly all the dead ghosts and read the grimoire cards ). Also, Halo did have a story in the first game, and stuck with you throughout the game. You were the last super soldier from a devastating attack on a human world named "Reach", and obviously got our asses kicked since we were the only ship to make it out of there. Your ship, the "Pillar of Autumn", is engaged above an ancient alien relic of unknown origin, and you make an emergency landing- but most of the crew is captured or killed. You lead the spearhead of multiple strikes against the aliens, in an attempt to scrape together a formidable fighting force to combat the remaining covenant forces also on the alien artifact. You find out that the ring contains an even greater threat, the flood. You are told by a mysterious machine that Halo is a super-weapon capable of killing the flood, and almost fire it when your A.I. companion, Cortana, learns of Halo's true purpose and stops you from killing all sentient life in the galaxy. You try to disable halo, but eventually destroy it by overloading the core of the wreaked Pillar of Autumn. You narrowly escape, but you and Cortana are the only survivors ( although Sergeant Johnson makes it out too, somehow ). While you could argue destiny has some story elements, the actual events have little to no impact on the world. No matter how many times you kill off the Vex god, nothing happens. You don't feel accomplished, you only think, "Was that it?". You don't ever see the effects that this vex god has, or any of the huge bosses that you kill. They're all just kinda there. They seem like dudes who are just having some friends over for dinner until you show up and kill them all. There are no characters from the darkness, you never interact with them ( In Halo you do, guilty spark is one of them ) None of the characters have flaws ( dinklebot is just bland, the speaker is just like, "sup, I'm too lazy to tell you anything, and could you go kill these dudes who are just really killing the mood with there presence? I have some shiny things for you if you come back alive!" And the vendors don't exist outside of the tower, in fact no-one really does exist outside of the tower in the playable areas. ) So again, destiny's story has little to no weight to its events in the story, contrary to bungie's previous titles. In destiny, no-one does anything at all, not even the enemies who crippled humanity towards borderline extinction. They just wander around endlessly. Borders never change, new leadership never shows up, the city is never sieged, you never establish connections to any of the characters, everything just seems dead. Static. Weightless. Bland. Repetitive. The gameplay may be some fun, and some of the later level stuff actually a little challenging, but it is just too light hearted.

Keegan Gates I can see where you are coming from now. Thank you for enlightening me on Destiny's problem.

One last thing: don't let other people's opinions ruin the game for you. If you enjoy the game ( I still manage to have some giggles with the game ) then by all means, enjoy it. Nothing is perfect, especially when it is designed by imperfect beings and judged by imperfect beings and played by imperfect beings. So if you have fun, then go and have fun.

@tylerborntraeger944710 жыл бұрын
yeah but notice in slo-mo that the smoke went upwards, not splattered spherically like a clean headshot
@bluesdealer10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but we don't really understand Ether, yet. In development, Joe Staten described Fallen headshots as "souls ripping out of their bodies," and how it's better not to have a complicated scientific explanation for everything that happens. Lore-wise, Guardians and Ghosts are given life by the Traveler's Light, which could basically be considered a soul. Darkness (presumably) animates the Hive. Ether could possibly be a tangible form of spiritual essence for the Fallen. Notice how the Servitors, the giant mechanical one-eyed spheres, are considered sacred because they supply Ether.

Battlefield. For sure. I own(ed) all of the Battlefield games. Even 2142 for the PC was great. It's one of those games that you can play over and over again and still want to play it. Destiny? HAH. Once you have all the armor, the level, it turns into a pile of dust. PVP is the only reason I return to that game.

I believe the quote itself may be a quote from Eris describing Erianna-3's last moment, not specifically dark souls, however the perk itself must be. Of course, I am referring to the heart of the praxic fire. I think it refers to Erianna as the grimoire states she is a disciple of the praxic warlocks. The beginning of ghost fragment hellmouth confirms that she was bright at the end, so they may have been her robes. Love the videos by the way.

On the mission to rescue the shard of the Traveler from the Hive ritual, they are actually referred to as "Siphon Witches," so I'm not sure why the terminology changed... perhaps to differentiate them from Guardian Warlocks? Still, in the Grimoire, a Hive Wizard under interrogation by a Guardian Warlock claims "we are the same." Interesting.

Destiny is a pretty solid game, just feels sort of desolate. By that I mean, it lacks substance. It looks nice and plays nicely, but I don't really feel any emotion for the guardians of earth. Their struggle just isn't that gripping for me, and there's no real sense of urgency. The storyline is generally vague, and the character dialogue is somewhat cryptic and brief. That's a huge turnoff for me. Yet, I find myself playing it more and more so I can milk the shit out of this game. When I first started playing it, I thought to myself, hey this game is like if Halo and Call of Duty birthed a child, and Mass Effect sort of helped raise it a little. Though it lives up to none of those titles.

1.) the game is shit aside from the actual hype 2.) the actual story was removed for later DLC and we were given this half assed grind fest 3.)they must of been using $100 bills to smoke crack and weed if the game cost $500 million dollars and this is the shit we get 4.)The game does not excuse the lack a beginning middle and end of a functional story to justify a 10 year DLC and free update 5.)There was no design direction, hence the lazy and repetitive objective based horde mode 6.) Loot system should not of been based on a MMO 7.) The game is a first person shooter/adventure RPG not an mmo, don't treat it as such 8.) Sound design was lazy 9.) copy and paste boss fights 10.) lack of context in game, that should not require me to exit the game and go to bungie.net to look up background history and lore

I realized something too. Remember Halo Reach? Well they had things in there similar to everything else from all the spartans down to You and Emil being the only one's left, Army of Two as one had a skull hon his helmet. Gears, Cod references too. They were everywhere. I think this game is somewhat biblical in this way. Fallen are Demons possessing living bodies, just as you stated. Hive are the worshipers of dark ages from sorcerers to knights, and even ogres and cyclopes. Cabals are the heretics who are willing to fight and destroy anything in their paths using any might they possess. And the Vex are angels, with their halos and horns and multiple different classes of enemies, lots of different name types (Goblin, Hobgoblin, Hydra, Gorgon, Minotaur, Praetorean, Divisive, Protectorate, Corrective and Prohibitions), With Gate Keepers clearly being archangels who can open up doors to other worlds, With the Black Garden being the garden of eden, and the statues being the lives made of clay, how beating the three kings at the Black Garden is like killing god by killing his worshipers... or at least getting rid of him, And how the vault of glass is guarded by the first seen Praetorians, the three (cerberus) who guards the vaults door(Gate to Hell) with keys Going down a number of layers that gets worse as you progress, until you fight the Aethon, the most smartest, most beautiful and most powerful of all the Vex, who is a "traitor" who can trick you through time(Aku) and denies the god that all of his other kind worships, while his own particular army awaits below. You are the humans, elves and golems(machines created with a specific purpos; I say this because it could be homunculi or something else, but I don't have a clue what that something else would be), who have been enlightened with truth or purpose with their traveler(pilgrim) who bares many secrets that has helped people. All but the Vex I'm completely sure about. Cabal could just be Atheists, as I don't know if they are actually part of the dark rather than just live in it. The Grimiore isn't exactly clear on it. But that's just me.

The Cabal wear pressurized suits that match their homeworld environment. When you land a precision kill on a Cabal, you are releasing the pressure inside their suit, making that really loud exploding animation.

The "heart of the praxic fire" also references "Eriana-3" the warlock sunsinger in Eris Morn's fireteam that originally delved into the Hellmouth to fight crota. She supposedly sacrificed herself in an attempt to save Eris. Going radiance it would make sense in the reference "In that last moment she seemed as wholly luminescent as the Sun, and I wished to be so brave." as stated on the "Heart of the praxic fire"

the heart of the praxic fire bio is a refrence to a warlock in eris's fireteam in the abyss, right before she died she activated her radience. the bio is quoted in a grimore card

someone probably said this, but when you mentioned the 'praise the sun' thing, i realized the destiny logo kind of looks like that as well.

Nice video! I'm only just watching these now. Been playing since launch and love the game, so i know lots of these things but its always cool to hear new details, too. Keep it up! There's so many great details in the game and I feel Bungie doesn't get enough credit for the universe they created.

I believe the description of Heart of Praxic was said by Eris or someone in the fire team who raided the moon. I believe it's referring to Eriana-3.

What I also noticed in Halo 3 was that they made a reference to Aliens in the base level when the drones attack and the marines yelled "They're coming out of the vents!" And " Fire in short controlled bursts!"

To anyone that says it has no story: If you invest in Destiny it has plenty of story there for you to explore. If you just casually play it once in awhile you only going to see what is in the cinematics. There is tons of story in the environments alone. It's like Souls. You have to want it. You have to look for it. If you want to just sit back and watch a passive story that is what movies are for. Go watch a movie and stop whining about the lack of story in Destiny.

Did you know one of the warlocks helmates give a refrence to assassins creed "early warlocks rather keep to themselves but some prefer to walk around wearing a conceling hood" i think it was like that

I'm pretty sure that grimoire card excerpt isn't saying that not all Vex are part of the same hive mind. It's saying that even though they are all hive minded, not all of them are exactly the same, and that there are subtypes that have different objectives than others. So they ARE all part of a hive mind, but that doesn't necessarily mean they all are exactly the same in their exact missions.

This is a bit random, but at around 2:30 I started to hear in the very back of the music playing a very familiar tune. I Kept on listening to it and found out that it sounds incredibly like a dungeon theme from a game called Mabinogi. Specifically, it's the whistle like tune to the song that I hear. It's from the dungeon Fiodh. I have no idea why I think that it has anything to do with that game, or it's tune, but I can not seem to shake off it's similarity. Call me crazy. o _ o
