It is interesting to remember all the different actors who appeared on the show. The one who most surprised me was Jack Nicholson, appearing in 2 episodes. So many others who had successful movie careers previous to the Andy Griffith show. Another I can think of who went on to TV greatness was Gavin MacLeod. Fun to remember all these people. I wasn't a huge fan of the Fun Girls. But one of their appearances was the only TAGS episode to feature both Gomer and Goober. Apparently their relationship with the Fun Girls was short-lived. Many classic TV series used the same actors many times as different characters. That was especially true of Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Have Gun Will Travel, and Dragnet. I remember when some actors made numerous appearances on The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. One difference is that most were better known. A lot of the earlier stock players might be considered character actors. Some would later get their own series. Thanks for another great video.

That was not Allan Melvin, although they did favor each other somewhat. Melvin was on about 4 episodes, one being the clerk at the meat market sweeping the street and he and Barney had a run in and Barney’s karaoke instructor took care of him.

The now late great Rene Auberjonois Played both The 1969 Movie Version and the 1972 TV Pilot Version of "MASH's" "Father Mulcahy."
