The hair clippers is a legit idea. I'm a guy with an average haircut. During c***d I started cutting my own hair with electric clipper. It saves money of course but it's also saving time and aggravation of having to schedule and travel to the salon every week or every two weeks. You'll need a handheld mirror and a little practice but it's very doable. I do a fade all around and long on top. I get compliments all the time.

For sure! And my haircut takes even less skill 😅 Nothing better than saving money, time, and aggravation

Hey man, I like what you're trying to do. I have a couple of tips to help grow your operation, take whatever you can from them if you find it useful. First, see if you can find better stock backgrounds for thumbnails (the all white one didn't really make me want to click it). If you don't have it yet, YT has a thumbnail AB test feature it's rolling out over the next few weeks to all creators with access to advanced features. Second, find a way to get better audio quality. Whether that means a better mic or an indoor setup, I'm not sure, but the audio quality was noticeably lower than pretty much all of the educational style videos I've seen, which probably lowers retension and gets you fewer impressions. Last, keep working on finding a rhythm with the humor. Everyone has their own, and I noticed you tried to insert some (the laugh track was painful though... but I find all laugh tracks painful, that's a personal thing), but it felt more forced than organic. When you get that rhythm, I'm sure you'll see some more growth. Best of luck!

Hey, I really appreciate the feedback! I changed this video thumbnail, you're probably right. I had a video or two do well with that style but it's not always the best look. I've got a few more videos filmed in this location, but recently I've started making videos indoor with a 4x more expensive microphone. It's still not the quality I want, but I've had trouble finding a quality one that's compatible with my phone. And I don't think the laugh track is going to make it into another video 😅 I'm working hard to get better, there's more to learn than I realized! I really appreciate you dropping some feedback and giving tips; so much easier than trying to analyze it from my end! Much love - Charles

I mean I also think college is a good choice if you pick the right major and you're dedicated to your craft. I am that average guy that spends $200/yr on haircuts though lol. I'm pretty sure it's gone up recently too.

I don't disagree, but that claim has become more controversial lately 😅 but I'm definitely glad I have a college degree. Sounds like you've got some more savings to save if you want to!

I love saving and investing my money. I got all my financial knowledge, first through reading books at a local library, then through the blogs and finally through KZbin. I'm in my late 40s; I wish to have an earlier access to those sources in my early 20s ( back then, there was no KZbin). I'm an immigrant, and came to US in my early 20s and always knew how to save, but didn't know much about the investing ( like how the stock market operates etc.). Funny, because my first town was Mclean, VA when I came to USA, so I know how expensive this area is ( Northern Virginia). Anyhow, I did well enough for myself and I do save as much as I can from my paycheck. But you're right- having kids is like another level of insanity when it comes to cost. One thing that slows me down is the expense of kids- they cost a lot! We sold our smaller house and bought a bigger one in a better public school district just because of the kids. But would I be happy without the kids? I don't know. I didn't want any kids until late 30s. Those are decisions that everybody has make for themselses.

Blogs were my introduction! I stumbled across the Mr money mustache blog in high school and it changed my life. I totally hear you on kids. I was so fortunate that my father wanted to pass down all his financial lessons to me and my siblings, and I'm sure you're doing the same for yours.

I can't often cook at home due to time constraints. My solution is smth like TooGoodToGo or eating in the school canteen where the value is unmatched by restaurants. Also, me and my bf don't even need an electric shaver, we just use scissors to cut off a bit and let it grow. He has longer hair than me, lol

For sure, I might be one of the only people that misses my college cafeteria 😅 I just crank out my meal prep on weekends, but not everyone likes eating the same thing every meal. And if you like it long, scissors are the way to go! I needed a razor for my beard, and it works for my haircut lol. Sounds like y'all are saving good money!
