As a Wyoming native, it’s been an amazing 35+ years! It’s not for the weak but like the university of Wyoming’s tag line. The world needs more cowboys! Tells us that only the strong survive and let’s be real. The world needs a hell of a lot more people with a back bone!! Alisha Collins KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!! Yes we might be the least populated state and always will be due to how soft the country has become, rest assured Wyoming is the place to come as the toughest only survive!!! I'm watching this video because I'm moving to Laramie from Chicago next month. As a Carpenter that has built 100's of homes over 30+ years, I began to notice a lot more apprentices just couldn't hang. Lots of entitled kids since about 2008. 30 years ago I would've had no problem getting a handful of capable guys to help me move furniture, do any repairs, clean, etc for a few burgers and beers. Now I'm having to do it myself due to lack of capable guys that don't want $200+/day each. It's ok cuz it's the last time I'll ever do it. "Gonna build me a home where the buffalo roam"...

I worked in Wyoming for a number of years, and kept a fishing license for exactly that purpose, to catch my dinner. Catching and smoking trout was my favorite pastime in Wyoming. Sand burrs popped my bicycle tires in Casper, and that's when I learned of a product called "Slime," a green gloop that is put inside tubes and tires to seal holes. I currently live in Mexico, and am based in Texas. But I've been considering bringing my motorcycle and my Tahoe and setting up a little cabin in the woods as a base, to drive roads and see the parks. Once, many years ago, I visited Devil's Tower, which has it's own post office. I took hundreds of photographs of the sunrise from the roadside about a half mile before the actual landmark, between the sun and the tower. As the horizon shadow started at the top of the tower, and as the sun came up behind me, the line of light traveled down the tower until the tower was the only thing lit, no ground before me seeing direct sunlight yet. Then... Like magic... The sun's light finally reached me where I stationed myself, and a big beautiful mule deer was standing in the road, close to me, between me and the tower. I got lots of pictures of that. I then drove to the post office at the base of the tower... And met the lady postmaster. Her vehicle was 4 wheel drive, and she let me use her vehicle to drive to the top up the road that twisted around to the left to go up to the backside. I had given the lady my keys to help her feel more comfortable about her offer to me to let me drive her vehicle up to the tip. I passed the park ranger on my way up, and he knew whose vehicle that was... He was almost panicking. I thought "Oh crap. He's going to turn around and pull me out at gunpoint." But he was nowhere to be seen after I returned from taking my photos up there. The postmaster must have explained the deal, showed him my keys, and probably left without a worry. Maybe he searched my vehicle to see if I was ok. I mean... They had my keys. I don't know, don't care. Because, I did get to go up to the top of the road, which, doesn't actually go to the top of the tower. You can't climb to the top of the tower, unless you are a well outfitted rock climber. That tower comes straight out of the ground all the way around. After 15 minutes up at the back, I got my photos and came back down, and traded keys back with the postmaster. I kept gushing about how beautiful it was up there. She was smiling as if to say, "Yeah... I know..." Something else that happened, probably that same year... I went up a mountain highway, parked and got out to look out on the plains from my perch. A lady stopped to check on me to see if I was alright. "Yes, I'm ok! I'm just taking pictures." We got into a conversation about the elk hunting, and she invited me to come hunting at her big property. She and her husband owned an enormous spread, where they helped manage a herd of wild free range elk that preferred to stay on their property. She gave me her phone number and I hate that I never did take her up on that. I had my brother and his two sons all hankering for an elk hunt on her land... It just never materialized. In Laramie, I met a couple who owned a tack store. They were interested in the book I was writing at that time. They allowed me to take photos of their store for my book. I believe if I moved there, to SOMEWHERE in Wyoming, the creative juices would begin to flow again, and I'd be extremely happy and productive there. Mexico is sucking the life out of me. The outdoor life in Wyoming... That's what I'm interested in. And the people are so real, so nice. And protective of one another. And the food. Oh my God. Some of the best food in the country. Maybe even, the BEST food in the country. I've spent $400 at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, CA,, when I took 3 friends out to dinner... But those steaks pale in comparison to the $35 steaks in even the most modest family owned steakhouses in Wyoming. 🦌 🐃 🐟 Oh, forget it. Wyoming, here I come.

Yes Sir ! For real, I lived in Wyoming for over 25 years, loved it , but in the last 5 years the state has been on a steady down hill course, its turned into a Train Wreck, COVID did serious damage that they still havent recovered from, The State is in Economic Free Fall, lots of people moving out of the State, due to the lack of jobs, and the crazy high rents and prices of homes, double digit unemployment numbers are common in most of the towns, We moved to East Texas and absolutely love it here, its the opposite of Wyoming, and a much better place to live.

We have been visiting Colorado for years and out of NM, NV, AZ, it was still high on our list to move to from Illinois. We visited Wyoming last year and I personally love the lower population a lot and being tax friendly. My wife on the other hand wants to move to a warmer location like NV or AZ. She also doesn't like our humid hot Illinois summers. I pointed out that the summers in Wy are unlike Illinois are DRY and less hot and as far as I can tell, the winters aren't that different. We are about 40 miles from Chicago now.

I grew up on the south side f Chicago and came west to attend the Univ. of Wyoming. I have stayed in the west all these years and we have retired to Laramie. The record al time high in Laramie is 94 degrees. My wife is from FL and had a hard time realizing that she will never again have to deal with triple digit temperatures. The winters are not IMO, as miserable as those in IL when the wind comes off the lake. All in all, I much prefer WY To the midwest. Right now it is a red hot real estate market with people realizing that if they can work remotely from their present home they can work remotely from WY.

@@toddgittins5692 Whether you are in the heat island of Chicago, rural Illinois, Iowa, or anywhere else in the midwest the summers are HOT and humid and the terrain is FLAT. Only the upper midwest (northern MN, northern WI, and the UP of MI) are IMO possessed of a decent climate in the summer. Yes, Chicago is a large urban area and cannot be used to judge regional rural areas or smaller cities but the climate remains the same. I made my choice and am glad of it. Hey Alisha, there is an old Indian proverb that tells the story of a small bird that fly's south for the winter too late and gets caught in a snow storm, he falls to the earth and begins to freeze and die when a buffalo walks by and craps on top of him, soon he begins to warm and sing, a coyote hears this, unburies and eats him. There are several lessons to be learned here, 1. Not everyone that craps on you is your enemy. 2. Not everyone who gets you out of crap is your friend and 3. If you find your self in a warm, safe place in life.......Keep your damn mouth shut. I know your just trying to make money but the last thing we need in Wyoming is a bunch assholes moving here and ruining the place.

You don't have to worry. Wyoming will remain a place for only "some" people. Lots of folks think they love wide open spaces and the peace of their own thoughts (no people), but they usually only like those things as a momentary respite (vacation). Once it becomes 24/7, they tire of it and leave. Other than Cheyenne, Laramie, and perhaps Casper or Sheridan, Wyoming is simply far too sparsely populated (and no stores, restaurants, etc) for most people.

We drove for miles without passing any type of vehicle or seeing another human being when driving through Montana some 50 years ago (Great-grampa was a town marshal in Montana about 130 or so in Montana, a deputy sheriff and Indian agent in Idaho later). I'm guessing Wyoming has fewer life encounters? A friend uses the one word to express his feelings on Wyoming: bleak! I was last in Wyoming when I was . . . It was 61 years ago. It's nice to know nothing has changed. Between dad's people and mom's people every two to three and a half years we passed back and forth on furlough. Dad and mom were your typical clandestine operatives overseas, dad also big into gurilla warfare, mostly in Southeast Asia. Probably half the people that retired from the Federal Government who are in their 80'' and 90's would have known them. I'm still looking for a place to move after my wife passes. I really can't live in Virginia anymore. I hate Marxist governments! Which Virginia has now become!

From experience, you can’t be a Democrat and live in Wyoming! I had just moved there when President Obama was running for President the first term. I heard some of the worst hate speech I’ve ever heard in my life! The “n” word was used by some people regularly in their normal conversations. It occurred on my jobs, in restaurants, in bars; really, everywhere. The word that comes to mind for me of my almost 9:yeats in Wyoming is “disrespect”. By the time I left, I swore to never cross even a corner of that state again. BTW, it was not just bigotry, but misogyny, and homophobia, etc.

Currently living in a state that will tax my pension when I start receiving it next year. Wyoming is a state that does not tax pensions nor social security. Also the state does not tax 401K either. With the Federal Reserve jacking up interest rates, busting up the Real Estate Market, and destroying the portfolios of millions of stock investors, some proactive retirement moves need to be done. With the interest rates so high, this would be an awful time to buy. So, renting a house would be a high priority as long as rent is affordable.

Yeah but you're not explaining WHY. Don't just throw out random statistics. Give us the reasons as to WHY that is happening.

WY is a very White state, low minority population (except in Lander and Riverton near the Wind River Reservation) but most people are pretty color blind. If you wear your ethnicity on your sleeve and blame anything negative that happens to you on racism you won't get along. If you have a cooperate and treat everyone like you want to be treated you will do just fine.

@Be Real I've known plenty of Republicans, Democrats, and independents who are hyper aware of skin hues and race. IMO a racist is someone who then ascribes negative or positive personal attributes based on melanin. Unfortunately, sometimes that is unconscious since we all have our stereotypes and prejudices.

Nobody cares what you look like here. They will mirror your attitude. Nobody pulls out red carpets for any newcomer in any city I have ever lived in (Europe, Asia, US). I have always been a minority in every place I lived. No problem. Don’t be scared 😘

We don’t care about your skin color. We got semi-close to electing a black governor a few years back. But we do care about your politics. If you’re not a conservative we’d mostly rather you stay out

Draw a line from the northeast corner to the southwest corner. With a few exceptions, you can forget about anything on the southeast side of that line. That would include Casper and Cheyenne. BTW, they are called Pronghorns.
