Idk if that's a thing for other intps as well, but I kinda feel bad for sharing my emotions - especially if they are negative. Like a good amount of times I was asked by some of my friends that I look sad or whatever (and yes I was, I mean a lot lol) but I've never admitted to it I guess 🤷♀️. Because 99% of the time it's because of my f up and I don't want to bother anyone with it - even though I should (as Fe users/unlike Fi users, we process our emotions by talking them out so yeah.. I should I guess but I just don't want to lol it's just weird). Also just telling people how I feel about something/what do I think about.. hmm let's say someone baked a cake or something, yeah it tastes good but I feel like it's weird to just say it even though I know they would appreciate it xD. Just some random thoughts to see if other intps can relate too

So the better to avoid feeling anything at all. If there ar no lows then no highs obviously, but neutral is still better than negative.

It's not that we don't feel. It's that, when we do, it can easily result in a journal filled with questionable poetry, several interesting but never-published youtube videos, a half-dozen half-completed projects, untold minutes of maniacal laughter, and eventually, a strange moment where we accept the emotion as part of ourselves and store it away as a reference point for the next human interaction.

Different for each person. As a more rational person, I know the general direction of an emotion (anger, joy, etc.) but the magnitude of it very mute and yet... I will have a very precise account of all of the events and thoughts that led me to experience that specific emotional state. "I am slightly frustrated with you, because we are talking about X, which is fine in itself as a subject, but you expressed your desire for me to do Y when you had previously refused to do Y yourself on Z date/circumstance. Comparing these 2 scenarios, you are currently asking for a much larger investment on my part than it had been asked of yourself, and that smaller investment had been refused by you in the past. Still, I will go ahead with your request, but it is important for you to know how I feel about it because there might be a time where I will not go ahead with such a request considering you have a pattern that communicates to me that you do not find me important enough to invest in, and by reciprocity, I should not be investing myself into your own requests. With that said... lets put that aside and execute on Y." And that's when I do not invoke some math in there.

I'm an INTP and here's my feedback. 1. This depends. If you can explain (logically) why something doesn't make logical sense, then it's fine. However, some things do not make logical sense and it's important that INTP's accept that. Example: feelings and emotions. However, how you deal with them is a different story. 2. Yes, you should, but don't be forceful. It's important that INTP's do not isolate themselves from the world, that's not healthy. 3. This one, I agree with. If an INTP feels something that they want to express, they will figure out a way to express it. Do not rush their process in this sense. 4. We might not agree, but we can accept different opinions and values. For example, I love math. Most people do not. I'm okay with that. 5. This is a skill that we need to develop, but if you just want to vent, it's better to go to an FJ. 6. Perhaps not this wording, but some amount of pushing is important to minimize analysis paralysis. 7. Okay, don't tell us this. We can't help it. Also, how do you know that it will never happen? 8. This just sounds like an interesting conversation. Also, you suggest that it is a fact that computers are better. This is not the case, as something being better is a value judgment that is subjective. Therefore, saying that computers are better than humans is an argument, not a fact. 9. We can't do this. You can tell me this as often as you want, but I won't do it. Instead, you could suggest focusing on one thing and place more time and effort to complete it, but we will also have side projects. 10. Fine if you have valuable criticism. If you're just being mean, then we don't need it.

@@willywonka6948 Look up Brooke Castillo’s work. She is able to explain it really well. But essentially theres a situation, the thought about the situation, the feeling/feelings that come from that thought, the actions that we take because of how we feel, and the result of those actions. Brooke calls it the model but she isn’t the creator of the concept, only of the model. So for example: My dog died and I ended up getting fired from my job for no call no show. Situation: dog died (say this was my dog but we want to take the actual facts only) Feeling: distraught Action: not eating, sleeping, and misses work without communication with boss. Result: boss fires me. Compare that to someone else’s view of the situation and they may not care. How can two different people feel completely different about the same situation? Because they have different thoughts about it. I understand that feelings like fight or flight and DNA programes fears are a different thing and may not fall into this category, but a majority of things that happen on a day to day basis can be broken down using the model. This is the easiest way I have found to process feelings that helps me understand them instead of getting wrapped up in them.

I'm an INTP and I do like to socialize, unfortunately I am constatly surrounded by toxic people, from my parents to my co-workers and most people I meet on the street or on the sub. I personally am more interested in arts, spirituality and philosophy. I used to like science as a child, that is why my parents forced me to enter medical school at first, but I never wanted to be there, so I quit half way through. My favorite things are japanese animation and asian languages. I would very much like to draw manga and write horror novels. I do have a lot of issues of interacting with people, but they all started in my adolecence when I started to feel more and more useless, after I was forced to quit the theatre club I was in and I shut myself in my room and fell into a deep depression and I kept gaining more and more weight, thing that made me feel even more hideous and useless (and my parents only drilled into me further the seeds of doubt and toxicity by gaslighting and guilt tripping me). I now regret giving up on martial arts and swimming. I have been thinking recently that it would be better if I were a machine because than I wouldn't need to feel, but this all comes from a feeling of hurt. It is excruciatingly hard to live with fuctional depression among your tormentors. I'm 30 and find it hard to walk away from a life with my parents and a job I do not like. I should stop complaining. I just need one friend, one friend I can bounce ideas off of. A friend that would accept any odd ideas I come up with without disregarding my thoughts and feeling and that can listen to me without judging. I used to have such friends at some point but along with adulthood came a distancing between us. I still talk to her, but I am too much for her, she has her own things to deal with. I'm saying way too much in a comment again.

INTPs do have feelings, and we can have very strong emotional reactions, but we don't always know quite how to express it, and sometimes we need a minute, or two, or longer to fully process and understand what it is we are feeling so that we don't express it 'wrong' so to speak. As an INTP this often happens to me. If I say I don't know it either means "I know why but do not want to interact at the moment, leave me in peace," or "I genuinely do not know." Like, what is the range of happiness to be truly happy, or am I just satisfied of it. Or what does it take for it to be disgusted in a scale? My feelings are mostly repressed so sometimes when I feel a certain feeling, I'm generally curious about it that I analyze it on why I have that certain feeling, use logic over it, and if I'm satisfied about it I can mostly understand why I'm feeling that certain way. But if anyone asks me on how I feel on a daily basis, my answer would either be I don't know or meh. Because that's how I feel. I won't say I'm fine, because why would I say I am? I also won't say I'm not, because that is something I would overanalyze and come to a disappointing conclusion, because cynicism. I'd say I don't know or not say something at all.

I think the best way for someone to try and get around our introversion and demand for logic is to appeal to our extroverted intuition and desire for balance. For instance, socialization is necessary for us to feed our Ne to give a wider pool of experience to feed our Ti. When someone says to just do something you can approach it as a science experiment and see how it works practically, even if it isn't natural. Even stupid things like people saying things that make no logical sense like "don't solve my problem can give us some knowledge into how different types think that we can process and store with our Si child for when we have to work with this type again. Patience is easy for an INTP if we can find a practical application to whatever experience we are going through even if the takeaway isn't the one the person who doesn't think rationally intends to give us.
@Mobuku3 жыл бұрын
Nah, I disagree with number 8. I don't know if I'm really an INTP or not, but since I consistently get it, I must say, becoming a cyborg is ridiculous. 1. Machines aren't perfect. Yes, they may calculate faster, but they're not immortal, they cannot live practically forever. If we cannot even make a vast majority of smartphones last for more than 10 years, what makes you think we can live forever being a cyborg? Although technically we can make a phone last for more than 10 years, there's no reason to, especially in our current system of exchange, accompanied with vested self-interests of various irrational reasons 2. Machines will always be vulnerable to hacking so long as we don't know Everything. And to actually trust other people that they will uphold your rights is insane. Not when psychopaths exist and run around. Meaning, if they can find the easiest way to control you, they will, and what better way to use machines with lots of system vulnerabilities? They could even manufacture these vulnerabilities themselves. What would stop them? Their consciousness? Oh dear, there's a reason why we call them psychopaths. So all in all, if we can't trust all people, why should we trust them converting people to cyborgs? Thus, machines should stay as an accompaniment as it should be to understand the Universe. It should never replace our already vulnerable bodies to an even more vulnerable one. Don't get me wrong, I like machines, particularly computers, as a student programmer myself. But knowing how humans always make mistakes, no matter how complex we make out our systems to be, so long as humans aren't perfect, so will our creations be.

The matter is the INTP’s thinking part is larger and more emphasized than their feeling. every individual can have different depths of feelings and emotions. I know I'm seeing it alot in the comments, but we do have emotions, though when we feel emotions we think about them ALOT and we don't necessarily like to show them. We just prefer being alone, but we will conversate heavily and almost without end on topics we are curious about and/or interested in. We may be rather detached from everyone else. Anyways, in the only way I can think of to accurately sum it up, we usually think similarly to a Naruto Character named "Shikamaru", Also known as the guy with the shadow paralysis move if you know of him but don't watch Naruto or Anime, and prefer to quote on quote, "Be just like a cloud, not a care in the world, just drifting wherever the wind takes me". What I enjoy even more is how they never notice what they did to cause me to cut them from my life, because more often then not, the people who say/do crap like that have no inner monolog/self reflection to have enough perspective to even attempt to ask "why did they stop interacting with me suddenly?" or even "maybe it was something I did? 7. "'Why worry about something that will never happen?' They should put that on our money." God, that show was brilliant. That final episode where you finally see this disaster and all the buildup to it play out, all while this perfect explanation of how every failsafe feature and protocol was ignored one by one by one... It actually STRENGTHENED my belief in nuclear energy. It didn't scare me, it just showed why you don't wanna build a reactor out of chicken wire and gum and let deranged sociopaths run it.

I am an INFP and I had an INTP boyfriend a long while ago. I kept breaking up with him because I just couldn't comprehend his way of looking at the world. I loved him so much and he taught me so much. My main argument with him was that he was looking for a wife and he had a time line. He was looking specifically for an INFP wife. Can we figure out what's wrong with that picture? lol. If you're looking for an INFP you can't put a timeline on your relationship. It made me feel backed into a corner and every time I would come back to him I would feel the pressure again then I just couldn't do it. He ended up finding a girl and he was getting ready to move to the other side of the country to be with her forever and he got in a motorcycle crash on the way back from seeing her off at the airport. It was two weeks before christmas. I heard about it through social media. And, of course, being the INFP that I am, I told myself that if I had only married him he would still be alive. Holy moly.

As an INTP I personally find that if a story world and the journey to the end of it makes no sense but it tells a great story and gets a point across, that it’s beautiful and the process of telling it doesn’t matter, there was a point, they got to it in a funky way but it’s what it was the weirdness meant that is important. One thing that make me go ballistic is when I am told: " this will never work". Because, by the time I propose an idea to anybody I have already thought of various ways to make it work. It really bugs me that I have to explain the solutions, why can't they think of it themselves? AND I know they will not listen to - or try to understand the explanation.

Intps certainly have feelings even they can feel more deeper emotions than others.As for me i don't understand my emotions well i can't apprehend sometimes what i feel so i avoid them but when i acknowledge that i do have emotions and try to channelize them what i feel then is a very deep,dense and strong emotions and i don't know what to do with them.People call us robots but frankly i will be very glad if we can become robots and just exclude the emotions.Life would be so much easier then. 👍

Many who say "INTP don't have feelings" are Data-Feelers, meaning TJ & FP types who process Data via introverted Feelings. Sarcastic ribbing aside, dismissing someone's humanity by claiming they "have no feelings" is just another Data-point to be processed for Data-Feelers (not anything cold-hearted or even rude! ). For INTP, the notion of processing Data (of all things!) via anything other than introverted Thinking seems unconscionable, but processing Data via Feelings (of any sort) seems patently absurd. Offhand, I'd suppose Data could be processed via Si, or Ni, or even Ne/Se, but fee-fee processed Data is a real thing out there.

Lmao number 8 a bit of a stretch, sure as an intp I can see how that’s the most logical answer but what about all the social aspects that will be lost due to looking like a cyborg assuming that isn’t the norm whenever this technology is around. Also how would it increase ur brain power and what not as if it could do that would it really still be ur brain at all and thirdly I don’t know if I would even want to live on outside of my body as a robot unless I could think and feel the same as I ain’t afraid of death any more and life isn’t a compelling enough reason for me to live on as a cyborg, especially after 90 years or so if I’m lucky rather then death which is just nothingness in the end so the only fear is the moments before ur death as after there is nothing and I don’t really fear things any more (as weird as that sounds but I ain’t explaining my self rn) so it’s not much of a problem for me. I would need a better reason then I do now to live on as an ai but I need more information to make an accurate decision

In regards to “5. I don’t want you to solve my problem, I just want you to listen.” Oh ok so someone has a deeply troubling issue because their child or spouse died and they needed to express themselves They shouldn’t tell any INTP about their problems with grief, a person a trusted and love because they turned to you Because INTPs believe it’s crazy, it’s too much trouble for you Because an INTP has to find a solution to their dead child What’s your solution? Get over it? That’s logical right But you or any other INTP don’t want to be bothered by that Sir have you no decency?
@Someone-ry1nh3 жыл бұрын
It isn’t that we willingly want you to suffer, it’s just us INTP’s are not good at emotional support, so don’t tell us your problems and also expect us to solve it. If you want to just get something off your shoulders, then you can, and should tell an INTP. Most of us will listen without interrupting, and will just listen, without judgement or comments, unless you want us to comment. If you want someone to solve your problem, and it doesn’t have a logical solution, then don’t ask us.

I don't think the guy means it in that context. if the problem is something basic like "I have a problem with time management" and we give you a solution and you disregard that solution, then of course we'll get annoyed. but if you're dealing with something like grief or the loss of a loved one then of course we'll hear you out and comfort you.
