Bit off topic, but Warrior's title win against Hogan and the subsequent reign is often cited as a bad business decision, similar to the Bret Hart and Diesel title reigns of the mid-90s, but I would argue - and this possibly ties back into Hogan's politicking - the reason why Warrior's title reign was underwhelming was down to the fact that there was literally no viable contenders for the title in 1990. Other than Earthquake (in a Hogan fued at the time), Warrior had to wait until Slaughter in 91 who, again, was being primed for Hogan.
@joshuasteward6097 Жыл бұрын
Guess it depends on how you define viable contenders: Santana, Perfect, Hogan, Piper, Roberts, Dibiase, Boss Man, Earthquake, Rude, Texas Tornado, Savage and Dusty Rhodes all would have qualified as viable and believable to me.

He got his win back against Kurt Angle on Smackdown. Also, in 2002, Vince McMahon in vindictive fashion, was turning Hogan into a jobber. By the time he lost to Brock Lesnar it meant nothing. He had already lost to The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, Kurt Angle ( I might be forgetting some), so nobody actually expected him to not lose to Brock Lesnar. Aside from the losses he wasn't allowed to get clean wins over Chris Jericho and William Regal, which made him look weak.
