Man did i ever need this video! I was the drowning duck, panicking on the surface while paddling like hell under the water LOL Through people like yourself and the group, I learned to back it up, settle down, start again but start smarter, and this worked! After literally thousands of dollars, in a very short time with no resaults, I finally have functional candles That i can proceed with final testing and just about there with melts. It's so true to just settle down, start strong but not fast

Wade, I sure wish I could have seen your videos 2 years ago. My initial thought was to jump into candle making and “successfully” add candles to my soap and body products line. I was truly mistaken!!!! Everyone was so secretive back then. They would show their process, but wouldn’t help with wax types, or wick sizes. From that “conditioning”, I own every gadget, every wax type, every fragrance, every wick type and size, etc. I was truly just trying to figure it all out. A complete nightmare. I had to stop, and rethink this whole situation and start again from scratch. Then I found you! I’m getting much better results now, and with your help I have a better understanding of wicks, different waxes, and processes, and great examples that work. I can’t thank you enough!!! ❤️

Wade, this was a very good video for everyone! Even if you've been doing it awhile, lol! I always say to myself when I get out of bed, I'm going to have a productive day, I'm going to have a positive day, and I'm going to have a Patient day. My three "P's"! Being productive, Positive, and Patience in everything I do makes my business run smoothly. I implemented this fairly early on after my first big flop with wick testing. Mostly because I was clueless about what I was doing with candles. I screamed, pulled my hair out, kicked my own butt, screamed "I'm a formulator this should be easy!" And ended back at square one! Yep, that's when I put the three "P's" in place. I went to bed, got up the next day and repeated to myself how the day was going to go. Believe it or not it worked. I was patient, I wrote down everything and used one wick at a time, I kept a positive attitude, and because of the first two the day was productive! I hope some of your viewers see this and take something away with them. Candle making is one of those hobbies/business's that can eat you alive if you let it control you, instead of you controlling it! I'm sure you'd agree with that. Tbanks for keeping it real for old and new alike!

Hi! Is this is Jill? I absolutely agree with everything you said. The 3 Ps are spot on. I use something similar. I also agree and hope some of the viewers see your comment. Perhaps we can use it for a future short video. It is excellent advise! Thanks!

Thank you for this. I am in a loop of making, curing testing, waiting for new supplies, making, curing etc. I’m getting closer but it was feeling a bit overwhelming and slow. But once I get it right, that will be the key. No success without a good product.

You are so amazing Wade and generous. I just wish I saw this video 8 months ago when I first started selling. I did everything back the front. So now I have hit a wall and have to unravel everything start properly as I’ve spent over $16K which includes a website and a social media specialist to post content but I have not had any sales. Interestingly I sold really well before the website and the hire of social media specialist. So I have to regroup and try to turn it all around. One major thing I learnt from you over the last few months is testing. You are so correct how important testing is, which is something I did not do for each candle I made. Big and expensive lesson learnt. 👏👍

Thank you. I'm just retired, having been making candles on and off for 42 years - loved, loved doing it long before it became so fashionable and popular. Two questions: Do I need to register as a business before I start? Before having sold even one candle in this drive? I'm from South Africa, but maybe you have a general idea? Secondly, if I advertise on Instagram and social media, and somebody from say, the USA, orders one of my candles, won't the shipping cost drive the candle price up to unaffordable levels? I love your videos, Wade.
@BlackTieBarn Жыл бұрын
You don't have to have a business to make and sell but it has advantages, especially insurance. As far as costs to shop internationally.... yes it would but that's up to the customer to decide if they want it or not. You can't really control that

Amazing video!! I can watch it over and over, because there is so much good information in it., not to mention it gets you motivated to succeed. The one question I have started out is, what address should I use for my customers since I don't have a building. Right now I'm using shopify and my home address is showing up on my shipping label as the return address. Not sure if this is how most candle makers start out.
@BlackTieBarn2 жыл бұрын
First, thank you for the kind feedback. Regarding your question.... yes it is quite normal. Many also get a po box or something for official mail, etc. The problem is... it doesn't work for returns generally. So, to answer your question.....yes most starting out do what you are doing.

Awesome videos! Have you ever used apothecary jars? I started making candles as a hobby at the beginning of covid-19. Iv tried every wax, just to see what I like and alot of wicks. I like the look of the apothecary jars but it's hard getting a wick that doesn't soot. 6006, iv narrowed to lx 18 wick, htp 83, cd 12, and eco 10. Any advice would be appreciated. And would like to see a video with the apothecary jars of possible. Thanks in advance! ( My friends and neighbors keep asking for them ,I'm just not comfortable with the candles yet, they could be better
